If you like busy...

I came to a coworker who has a seasonal site. This was a social visit with our grandkids. They had a blast feedlots the rain but this place is very busy with lots of sites that are very close. It reminds me of an ant farm there are so many golf carts whizzing around. Los of things to do for kids,…

Very relaxed atmosphere.

I enjoyed our stay. Electric only, so be prepared to transport water from available spigots. Lots of things to do from paddling and fishing to hiking trails or learning about the dam. There is an observation deck and ball fields available.

Unexpected Surroundings

In most states, those without falls like Niagara, this state park would be the pride of the land. With three serious drops in as many miles, the Genesse River winds it’s way through what locals call the “Grand Canyon of the East.” Many states try to make such claims, but this might be the closest…

  • Campsites are a bit close together but enough space for our small rig.
  • Upper Falls area.
  • Standard sites, nothing extra special.

Best if you want a summer rental

Place is filled with campers which don’t move all summer. There are decks, low fences, and stuff around their campers. Clearly they visit annually for the season. We had a lake front spot but our electricity didn’t work. When I called they said someone would come check it “later”. We didn’t have…

Wow

Just got the pop up this year and have already done 4 trips this was by far the best. So much for the kids to do with splash pad, pool, playground and Rec room. Worth every penny ty.

Wet and Soggy 4th

Sites here were very wet and really didn't dry out after a warm sunny day. Seems to be a spot for locals. Very loud and noisy. The recreation area was cool. Playgrounds were nice in both camping and Rec areas. Bathrooms/showers were on par for a state park. Sites need some maintenance and some are…

Allegany, Quaker Lake

Went in June, they were basically just opening. Grass wasn’t cut, got nasty bites from chiggers. Quaker store had essential gear but it was left over from last season. Just wouldn’t recommend going in June. Save it for July or August.

  • We saw fire flies and listening to an American Woodcock which is a very rare bird

Nice lake

We stopped for 2 nights and felt so comfortable we added another 2 nights. Nice lake for kayaking and fishing. The finger lakes trail runs through the campground. Did a 5.5 mile hike up Pennsylvania Hill today. A little road noice and no water hookups.

Really cool, remote spot

Arrived to a nearly empty campground. Only a few people on a weekday.

No firewood on site, so bring it with ya. Really good, cold water from the well!

Little bit of Verizon coverage.

Bad news - Gypsy moths are everywhere!!!!

Hidden gem

My husband and I just got our first camping setup (tent). Letchworth was a wonderful first experience together. The campground can be almost 15 miles from the entrance of the park at points, but we just asked someone at the visitors center and found it easily after that. The restrooms are all well…

Beautiful lake site, infested with Gyspy Moth caterpillars.

We booked this campsite in February and we were not told of the Spray block to be used to treat that part of the forest for Gyspy Moth caterpillars that filled our campsite. We were pelted for 4 days with droppings and leaf particles from them eating the oak trees. Other than that, the site was…

Retired campers

This is a beautiful place! Monday thru Friday the campground is quite and mostly empty. Friday brings the weekend families and their dogs, still very enjoyable and definitely entertaining!

Campground in Allegheny National Forest

Nice location near the water. Campground has three sections to it. Once you come in the main enterance, off to your right are nice walk in tent sites. Off to the left are two loops for tent and RV camping. There are two bath houses, one near each loop. They each have three hot water showers,…
