Nickerson Park Campground operates seasonally from May through Columbus Day on 330 acres of forested terrain in Gilboa, with sites accommodating RVs up to 50 feet. The privately managed facility offers full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, plus amenities like showers, WiFi, and a dump station. Reservations are available for this paid campground that welcomes pets.
Sites sit on terraced levels that step down toward Schoharie Creek, with spacious layouts that impressed multiple visitors. Sarah S. notes that "groups of sites sit on level terraces stepped down toward the river" with common areas featuring playgrounds and additional parking between site clusters. The campground includes a pool with water slides and maintains daily trash pickup service. Most sites house seasonal RVs, creating a different camping atmosphere than transient-only facilities.
Water quality and management practices have drawn mixed feedback from recent visitors, with some reporting pressure issues and discoloration. Road access within the campground varies, and occupancy levels significantly affect the overall experience. Creek access provides opportunities for kayaking preparation, and staff can provide guidance for reservoir use. Campers exploring the broader region can find camping near Gilboa or visit nearby Gilboa KOA Holiday just a tenth of a mile east.
