Directions From New York City Take New York State Thruway I-87 North to Catskill Exit 21. Follow Rt. 23 West, approximately 38 miles or 50 minutes. Continue through the towns of Windham and Prattsville. In the town of Grand Gorge, at the blinking light, turn right onto Rt. 30 North. Go 6.5 miles, our sign will be on your left, turn right onto Stryker Road. Campground entrance is 1 mile on left. Directions from Albany Take Rt. 88 West to Schoharie Exit 23. Follow Rt. 30 South, approximately 25 miles or 35 minutes. Continue through the towns of Middleburgh and Blenheim. After you pass Mine Kill State Park, our sign will be on your right, turn left onto Stryker Road. Campground entrance is 1 mile on left. Directions from Oneonta Take Rt. 23 East, approximately 37 miles or 45 minutes. In the town of Grand Gorge, at the blinking light, turn left onto Rt. 30 North. Go 6.5 miles, our sign will be on your left, turn right onto Stryker Road. Campground entrance is 1 mile on left.

BRING YOUR OWN WATER !!!

Use to be a real nice family oriented campground. Since the new owners took over, the nicest thing is leaving! Wild, disrespectful adult adolescents get out of control and the park does nothing about it. Speed limits are not enforced! Some fly thru the park making it dangerous for everyone, especially children. Garbage used to be picked up at your site throughout the day and brought up by the entrance, but now there are overflowing dumpsters all over the place which have caused fly and rodent infestations. I had to hang nasty fly strips all around my canopies and caught mice in my camper constantly. THE WATER! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! I'm guessing the new owners didn't do as much as the previous owners as far as water treatments. It smelled like raw sewage, loaded with sediment and very discolored. Little to no pressure and a couple times no water at all. This was my 5th year camping at Nickerson and these issues were not there in the past. I have been camping for about 50 years and I've stayed in many campgrounds, this water was by far the worst I've ever experienced.

Nickerson Catskill mountain campground is amazing.

Absolutelylived this campground.  The sites were very spacious and clean. They had a pool and water slides for the kids. The owner and staff were so friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to go back. Highly recommend this place.  There are also a lot of places in the area to visit.  Minekill state park is only a 5 minute drive.

Private Early Season Camping

We stayed for two nights mid-week in June and had the entire loop to ourselves. That made the experience a 5/5, but after seeing the site layout, it seems like accessibility could be an issue with high occupancy. Check-in went very smoothly and we were greeted by the new owner of only 45 days. She was extremely pleasant. Most of the campground is filled with seasonal RVs which makes for a different experience. Our site was on top of the creek, close to the path down to the water and close to a hiking trail. During our visit we drove around the nearby towns and didn't find much to see or do with our time. I don't know if I would stay here again just for the visit to the campground given the higher cost, but we enjoyed the one time experience. Verizon cell service was decent, and enough to work remotely.

Horrible Mananagement

 I stayed at Nickerson Park Campground in August 2022 and unfortunately, my experience was far from positive. The campground's management and staff exhibited behaviors that were completely unacceptable and made for a very unpleasant stay. One of the main issues I encountered was the frequent drug use by the manager's husband, Geno. This created an unsafe and uncomfortable environment for guests, and it was clear that he was under the influence of drugs during my stay. Additionally, his attitude towards guests was extremely poor, which only made matters worse. It's concerning that the management and staff at Nickerson Park Campground allowed this behavior to continue unchecked. It's their responsibility to ensure that guests feel safe and comfortable during their stay, and they failed to do so in this case. The fact that they allowed a staff member's drug use to go unchecked is completely unacceptable. Overall, I would not recommend staying at Nickerson Park Campground due to the behavior of its management and staff. Their lack of accountability and failure to address these serious issues make for a completely unacceptable guest experience

Surprisingly lovely

It was a last minute decision for us to come here and we were so glad we did. We had reservations about being side by side with other RVs but the site we were in was so big and being in a valley with huge trees all around a large open grassy area in the middle made everything feel vast. We loved the pool, walking to the creek, and how wonderfully quiet it was most of the time. The staff was super helpful in explaining how to prepare our kayaks for use on the reservoir and with trash pick up and information about weekend activities. Super family and dog friendly campground. We appreciated the proximity of the compost toilets as there is only 1 bathhouse in the campground. We really loved our stay here.

Family owned and runned

Been going here since before the kids ....tented then later when the kiddies came a pop up was necessary the love of camping iwas definitely created here

Huge without crowded sites

Groups of sites sit on level terraces stepped down toward the river. The center area of each grouping of sites had a common use area with tether ball, playgrounds, privies, or additional parking. Each site itself was spacious, and though individual sites may not be separated by trees, there are plenty of trees around. The pool/water slides were a hit with the kids! Also, the staff come around to pick up your trash bags daily, which was a nice little perk.

Cozy

Campsite was cozy trees were amazingly huge. Camp tent sites better than trailer sites. Very quiet and perfect.
