ScoutWe were initially going to only spend a night, but ended up staying 2. The 360 Mountain View’s are stunning, easy walking distance to everything Silverton has to offer. Cleanest bathrooms we’ve seen in a campground, and staff was super friendly. There is a stream behind the campground, and I’m told there’s a beaver that lives 100 yds away. Other campers report seeing moose and bears wandering through. We will definitely return!
RangerLooks to be a nice place! There’s a couple spots on the road to the kiosk area that might be a bit daunting unless you have a rig that can handle it AND depending on the weather that year…. This was a VERY dry winter, summer, and lining up to be a dry fall! Even with this dry weather the road had some full on mud puddles and some areas that were just getting to a damp state. If you go past the kiosk area, you’ll find few more areas to camp but enter at your own risk as the road doesn’t get any better. In fact it gets rougher…. I only spotted three spots that were used before and they looked really nice. One reviewer mention water at the kiosk but I didn’t see it so they’ve either removed it or I’m blind…. It looks to be just a few miles from Meeker and it ended up being 20 miles from Rifle, where I was visiting family….
GuideCame a few days before the ground closes for winter so it was nice and mostly empty. Some sites are very close to a road, country road so not tons of traffic but not super private.
ScoutWe visited Cold Springs campground several times this summer to beat the heat in Denver. Each time we stayed on a different site, one prettier than the next. Everything is clean and well-maintained. We saw a moose! The camp host, Gary, was helpful and friendly. He kept an eye on the entire campground and we felt safe. Got great connection on TMobile.

Jill the host was amazing. Dereck and Jill do a phenomenal job keeping this campground in great shape. The vault toilets are impeccable, clean and smelled better than any other.
Site 18 was raked clear on our arrival, a slight slope and wide enough to accommodate two vehicles.
The picnic table and fire pit were clean and level. The stream that flows through the campground is refreshing and offers a relaxing sound. You will hear some road noise, but not much.
Firewood was $10 bundle at the host site, it seemed dry but took a while to get burning even using a cheater log.
There are several hand pump water stations that offer a means to wash and or put out the fires. Bring a filter to help remove some iron or use a gravity bag system to filter.
T-Mobile was spotty at best. We saw deer come through and four moose one evening near the entrance. Two moose walked through our site Sunday morning while cooking breakfast.
The Milky Way was out every night, amazing views.
ScoutPulled in Friday afternoon of Labor Day weekend and only 2 of the 5 spots were taken. We are a family of 4 that came all the way from Kansas. We chose site one. It’s small and not very level but the most private. Site number 4 is the biggest and would be great for a couple tents. We stayed 3 nights and the campground was never full. 23/night is pretty steep in my opinion but all campgrounds are these days. Lower cataract lake is roughly 1/2 mile away and is absolutely beautiful. There are multiple hikes you can do from the same area. We loved our stay and will be back.
