    The campground was easy to find, located right off US-231. We parked at the office to check in and were escorted to pull-through site 16 with full hookups. A couple of turns required attention, and entry into the site was a bit tight, but the maneuver was manageable with our setup. This is an older campground with mature trees throughout, so satellite service could be challenging depending on site location. We chose not to deploy Starlink since T-Mobile Home Internet performed well. Cell service showed 3 bars on both Verizon and T-Mobile. Campground Wi-Fi tested at a respectable 40.1 Mbps download, which was sufficient for most online activities, though our T-Mobile Home Internet delivered faster speeds at 85.3 Mbps download. Some road and train noise was noticeable during our stay. Utilities were conveniently positioned near the middle of the long pad, and water pressure was solid at around 60 psi. The property features a large dog park and a pleasant pond with a walking path. The 1962 Nuclear Bomb Shelter, now used as a storm shelter, was an interesting feature worth checking out. Overall, this was a nice KOA stay, and we would return.

    This review was written as a short-stay versus destination campground. Our RV Life navigation and Waze took us off I-65 and about a mile to the campground, though both GPS units announced the destination as being on the right when the new campground entrance was actually on the left. Prior to arrival, we received an email directing us to go straight to back-in site B-1 with full hookups. With only 10 utility sites currently in service, maneuvering was easy, and the wide roadway along with the generous site opening made it simple to swing our 40-foot fifth wheel and F450 into position. The gravel pad was fairly level, as were the other sites, and utilities were centered and functioned well with water pressure around 60 psi. Sites were comfortably spaced, and our site included a nice paver patio with a picnic table. A convenient touch was trash pickup directly from the patio area. One of the owners, Joan, stopped by to make sure everything was satisfactory and mentioned additional parking areas at the front and back of the campground if needed, though we were able to park crosswise on our site without issue. There was currently no Wi-Fi, but the open layout with no obstructions made satellite connectivity easy. We had 3 bars on both Verizon and T-Mobile. The owners live in one of the cabins a few hundred yards from the campground, where a few dry camping sites are also located. There was no bathhouse or laundry facility at the time of our stay, though the owners indicated those amenities are planned. A nearby shooting range was active on the Sunday we visited, creating some daytime noise. Overall, we enjoyed the stay and would return.

    Pulled in after dark, got up here and through the wet terrain just fine in a 2010 toyota sienna camper build. I read someone else speak of hearing eerie sounds. So that peaked my interest to come out even more. Those sounds im lead to believe is what I too heard, at night, owls, bats, frogs. My whistlening steaming kettle to see what else would appear. To no avail, only a few pinecone on my rooftop solar and a branch that shattered itself next to the van. Wonderful free spot

    Chilton County Minooka Park

    ATV park

    Very clean, spacious, well built park. Its main claim to fame is the off roading trails for bikes or side by sides. They can be heard all over the campground so if you like peace and quiet not the park for you. They also don’t have laundry but do have nice three stall bath house and playground for kids.

    AMAZING!!!!  I love all the state parks that I have visited in Alabama but this one is really nice. I can't wait to come back. the campground is immaculately maintained, The trails are great, and the views are amazing. Keep your dogs on a leash because the gators are out even in January.

    Most of the state parks in Alabama are incredible and this one is no different. the facilities are clean and well maintained the campsites are large and level and the trails are great. Many waterfalls and rock structures. I will definitely stop here any time I'm in the area.

    Very nice large concrete pads with large gravel picnic area. Full hookups, picnic table, fire ring, fish table, pole for light. Our site was river front and saw lots of barrages go by each day. trees around but great views from most sites either of river or water. Can ride bikes down to the Lock and Dam areas. About 2 1/2 miles ride around campground. US Army Core of Engineer campground. Very well maintained! Demopolis, Alabama

    Peace between the trees

    I pulled into this spot on a rainy day, looking for a quiet place to camp. You will came across a dirt road off to the side not exactly where the pin said it would be, but close enough probably a good 1500ft difference . Right away, I noticed how peaceful it felt, tucked a good distance from the main road. Even with the rain coming down, it wasn’t too hard to get to the camping areas.

    As I drove in, I passed three camping spots, each with its own little pocket of space that felt private and calm. Eventually, once I got to the where I camped, It looked like I might be able to go further down, but between the wet terrain and the late hour, I decided to park and stay put.

    Even with the rain, it was a relaxing and easy spot to camp, quiet and tucked away from the hustle of the road.
