We are in a quiet area with access to a town aprox. 18 miles away. We are about 45 minutes from the Alabama River and an hour from Millers Ferry. There is a Robert Trent Jones golf course near by and we are about 2 1/2 hours from the beaches. With a total of 265 acres, we have 2 ponds and a creek for fishing and recreation. The land consists of open fields and woodlands. Pitch your tent in one of our beautiful grass covered fields and enjoy access to 263 acres of pure nature. You can go fishing, swimming, hiking, or sit back and enjoy the sounds of nature on this farm out in the country. You can even go wading in a beautiful creek. Get off the beaten path! If you live in the city, you will see stars, in the night sky, that you never get to see where you live. 35 minutes from Millers Ferry on the Alabama River. 50 minutes from Montgomery, the state capital, and 30 minutes from Cambrian Ridge golf course on the Robert Trent Golf Trail. We are horse friendly and have a pen where you can keep your horses. Stalls are in the plans and hopefully should be completed sometimes late next year! We have made some major changes, that began this year! We Opened our Camping Season on March 1st and now extend it throughout the entire year! We have eliminated the hunting lease and are now a Wildlife Preserve! We are focused on a major effort to vastly increase our Wildflower populations as we have begun planting a minimum of 1 million new seeds, each year for the next 3 years! The colors should be awesome! We are planting strawberry patches, Blueberry bushes, and Fruit Trees, as well as improving existing stock! Now is the perfect time to come and enjoy exploratory hikes and leisurely walks along our many roads and trails! There are very few tall grassy areas and most of the ground is still visible, from this years controlled burns! The number of plants blossoming will steadily increase throughout this growing season, providing multi colored eye candy! If you have not been exposed to the Corona Virus, we also offer a secluded area to come and lay low, until the crisis has passed! We are not gouging prices and we ask that you not come, if you have been exposed to the Virus, until you have passed through adequate quarantine! &nbsp;IMPORTANT: &nbsp;In order to comply with Public Safety Guidelines, Murchison Farm's Primitive Campground will host no more than 5 groups of 4each, at any given time. Each group will be assigned an area and asked to not interact with other groups. If You are getting tired of those 4 walls yet, Murchison Farm's Wildlife Preserve and Primitive Campground offers a Great Place to take a break, and get Out into the Wide Open Outdoors! Don't waste time, make Your Social Distancing Experience exciting and full of new experiences! If you are interested in some of our current Blossoms catering to Pollinators. I caught some photos of a huge Green Moth, just shortly after it exited the cocoon. It's wings were mostly dried out, except for the very ends. They were still curling out. Would have been Nat. Geo. awesome if the full event had been videoed! If You look at the Photos, compare the Moth's size to the Pick-up Tire! I would love to see You add some of Your Own photos!! If You like to Fish, You might want to book early. We only have 2 areas with Bass, Brim, etc… And only 2 areas where You can Fish Ultra-Light. Each camping party will be assigned only one of these sites.​We will have very little interaction with guest, other than an occasional check to make sure all is well.​We Use several Booking Venues, so please remember bookings will be first come first served! Murchison Farm

An overnight campground in a quiet country setting. It includes a beautiful fishing pond filled with bass and bream. A clubhouse is available for guests to use; with bath areas, laundry mat, and an area for groups to gather. It is located a mile off of Exit 101 on I-65. Stop by and visit with us!

Millers Ferry Campground

Roland Cooper State Park is a beautiful, peaceful campground on the Alabama River in Southwest Alabama. It has 55 RV sites, 15 primitive sites, 12 fully furnished cabins, 2 primitive cabins run from a generator (between hours 6 am-12 pm) a pavilion, boat launch, and Day Use Area. All RV sites have water, electricity, and sewer. The river is well-known for the great fishing. It is also a great place to kayak and canoe. The roads leading to the campground are paved and all sites are level and on a paved pad. Each campsite has a fire pit and a picnic table. There are 4 bathrooms, all are heated, 2 bathrooms have showers with hot water and flush toilets. A dump station is located in the campground at no charge to those who are camping. There are two hiking and biking trails within the campground.

All RV sites come with full hookup, which includes water, electricity, and sewer. All campsites have a paved level pad, and a fire ring with grill top. Activities include, but are not limited to, basketball, fishing, picknicking, volleyball, and corn hole, which are free to all campers.

Please view further details regarding policies and rates upon selecting "Reserve Campground Now". All sites require a 2-night minimum stay. Please call the campground directly to request an exception if you wish to stay for just 1 night.

## Overview

Prairie Creek Campground is situated beneath moss-draped oaks on the banks of Woodruff Lake. The lake is part of the scenic Alabama River in the region's Black Prairie Belt.   
  
For sportsmen, the campground offers a wonderful opportunity to relax between fishing and hunting trips. Water sports and hiking are also popular activities.

## Recreation

Woodruff Lake offers excellent fishing for bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish.   
  
Boating, jet skiing and other water sports are big draws to the lake, and a boat ramp is provided for easy water access.   
  
The Lowndes Wildlife Management area, located nearby, covers 12,500 acres and provides prime hunting for whitetail deer, wild turkey, hogs and a variety of small game and waterfowl.
