Great Campground

Stayed at the campground 7/4/21-7/6/21. Had an amazing time. Bath houses were clean and close to the campsites. Had plenty of activities for the family to do. Staff was super helpful and very friendly. Will definitely be going back.

Being from Missouri and moved to North Carolina I spent a week here and it has been so far one of the best places for fishing.

Huge Lake, nice sites

We visited Kerr Lake State Rec Area, JC Cooper Campground, Loop 1, at Satterwhite Point in April and it was fully booked for the weekend.  The sites are beautiful. Many have direct views of Kerr Lake. Water and electric were good, maintenance was good.  There are State Park quality toilets and…

IDA (IDSP) The Stars Come Out at Night

My gkids and I stayed here one night because they wanted to earn a winter camping badge and it was so worth it! We were there on a beautiful chilly clear night and the sky and stars were amazing! If you love stargazing this is the park for you. It is an International Dark Sky Park. There is a…

We loved this VA State park!

Our family loved this park and its amenities. The campground was nice but some of the sites are a little small so definitely pay attention to the camper length per individual site. The bathhouse is in the center of the loop so that makes it convenient to most of the sites. The swimming lake has…

Wooded Sites

Tent sites are shady, although some can be VERY close to one another. There’s a nice beach area and the park seems to offer boat rentals (unsure of COVID policies at the moment, though). 🛶

The playgrounds and amenities for kids are cute, and the bathrooms are clean. The park sells wood and has a…

Starry skies!

We got a non-electric site and in November is was in the 30's at night - pretty cold for tent camping! But we bundled up and made lots of fires! Fire wood is available at the visitors center for a fee. The campsites come with a fire ring, picnic table, room for two cars. We have a pretty large tent…

  • Parking for two cars
  • Smaller campsite, but will fit two larger tents
  • Hiking trail adjacent to the campground - beautiful sunset!

Love State Parks

Smaller campground. 33 sites, only a handful for larger rigs. Mostly level. E/W only. Dump station. Two lakes, lots of places to walk/hike, explore.

Absolutely wonderful place!!

We so enjoyed camping here. The swimming area is so amazing. Great area for the kids to enjoy a safe and fun swimming experience.

They have boat rentals and a fishing pier. The camp sites are of nice size and are mostly well shaded. They have a large playground for the kids and the roads are good…

Small. Basic. Not super up to date.

It's a campground if you arent looking for big views or to get away from it all, it's a bit noisy. The bathrooms were not very tidy and at any point seemed like there was debris or water laying around every time I went in. The picnic area is basically bare earth with little attention paid to basic…

Can’t wait to go again!

Love it! Small campground but they take great care of it and have a lot of activities for kids. Staff there were very helpful and friendly. Bathhouses were updated and meticulously looked after.

Campground with Roomy Sites by the Lake

Our campsite was roomy and by the lake although we did not have running water or electricity. However, we knew that in advance and were prepared for it. Since we were by a sandy beach, we could put our kayaks in right there at the campsite. The bath house was quite a walk from our campsite, but it…

  • Our campsite was beside the water.
  • Kerr Lake offers great opportunities for water activities, including kayaking.
  • With our campsite being beside the water, we didn't have to spend much time putting kayaks into the water.

Ranger Review: Leatherman Charge ALX at Twin Lakes State Park, VA

Campground Review

The staff at this campground really went above and beyond to make sure I had all the correct information needed for my stay. They truly run like a well-oiled machine. They are the reason for the 3-stars. This was actually my second time at the park, but I didn't remember…
