KOA Newbie

This was our first KOA experience. I liked the pool, camp shop, and proximity to Massanutten water park. I also liked the size of site.

My wife didn’t care for the lack of grass (mostly gravel) or the guy who took us to site that worked there talking over her when she was helping me back in.

Most people know this but if a couple is backing in just let them figure it out.

Other than price and backing in annoyance, I thought it was good place and would go back.

Excellent KOA! Nice people at the camp shop and camp sites were well kept. Layout is nice to navigate with a camper. Hope to come back soon!

Nice KOA

Nice park, lots are a little close together but the tree make it private. Very clean park, well maintained. They have kids activities on the weekend but not during the week we were there. Just 17 min from the Luray Caverns. Only issue for us was the the trash disposal situation. Only pick ups are from 9 - 12. Other wise you have to walk all the way to the entrance of the campground.

Very Nice Campground

We stopped here for one night so we could visit Shenandoah National Park. The campground was extremely pleasant, as were the staff on duty. The sites were more spaced out than is typical for a KOA. They were also spacious and shaded. Since we were there for such a short stay we didn’t take advantage of any of the amenities although the pool looked nice.

There are probably closer campgrounds to the entrance of the National Park, but this wasn’t too far away - maybe 45 minutes? Beautiful drive to get to the entrance.

Slightly above average

An average setting and location. Staff was above average and very nice. Our upgraded site came with a very nice propane grill and wooden deck/patio. (Paid upgrade) Not a ton of space between sites. Office/Store had some supplies and snacks. Restroom/Showers were clean but could use some updating. Nice hiking trail.

Good

Overall everything is good here. Site sizes, the staff, the layout. Everything is good. It’s tucked away at the base of the blue ridge so it’s a little tight on the road into the campground but it’s accessible. My only complaint is when you get here and try and navigate the grounds, it’s not very clear. A quick walk around solves that though.

Super nice management and facility

We stayed 3 days in the area for tents that had electricity. It was a pretty woodsy and spacious site. The manager was very accommodating and nice! A good, central location.

Typical KOA Primitive camping expensive

Nice tightly packed campground including tent camping. We sent up camp D22. Very tight spacing. Noisy neighbors with no consideration for other campers. No water/electricity. Over $100 for 2 nights. Nice staff. Bathrooms ok and clean. Camp store nice with decent pizza delivery possible. We mountain biked at Bryce ski resort 40 minutes away.

Great location KOA

This campground has an awesome location between Harrisonburg and Luray/Shenandoah. It has great amenities like a pool and playground, a camp store and lots of friendly and helpful employees. I love that they will pick up your trash and deliver firewood. We stayed in a non-electric grass tent site in loop D. The sites are great! Nice and flat and shady. They come with a huge fire pit and a picnic table. There is only one bath house in the campground that has plenty of bathrooms and showers. A very nice stay!

Nice, Clean and Well Staffed

This site is a bit off the road so no road noise. Sites are plenty although a little close together so hearing the neighbors alarm go off wasn't too pleasant. The store is well stocked and well staffed and will deliver ice, firewood or pizza to your site. Bathrooms and shower area large and clean. This is okay for an overnighter but with the number of RVs in close proximity I'd pass for a lengthy stay.

Clean & friendly

Very clean & lots of amenities. They are adding 80 more campsites for covid campers. Pool is closed rn (March 2021). Playground, basketball court, fire sites, small store, babbling creek, catch & release pond, trails. A little scary driving into- winding roads & tight turns. They have a easily accessible (for huge RVs) gas station right off the highway before turning in!

Took off a star bc this wasn't a "stay a while" campground. Most people came one night. We have a 38" camper and the site they gave us had such a steep grade it took us a LONG time to get level. We went and asked if we could have a new site as we checked in when they allowed & it was EMPTY. we paid for 5 days in advance and they "couldn't give us a new site". It seemed silly to me bc there were plenty of back in sites that we could have fit in.... and all rhe people who paid for 1 night could have been switched over? Although that customer service experience wasn't delightful, the staff was still helpful & friendly.

Quintessential KOA

Biggest KOA I’ve been to. 24 hr laundry, big camp store, office stays open later than other KOA’s. Convenient to the highway and easy to get to. Sites are well spaced. Hookups were well positioned. Walking trail starts at the campground. WiFi worked pretty well. Overall a great KOA.

We really enjoyed camping here. Took a great hike to Fridley’s Gap and went swimming in the water hole. The tent site was big and clean and the staff was super friendly. They have chickens and ducks roaming around and Our dog got to chase a chicken off the site. She loved that! Will definitely so back!

Very Clean Campsite convenient to I 80

This campground has incredibly clean bathroom and shower facilities along with an immaculate site. Each tent site is fairly large and has a flat mulch covered spot for a large tent with a picnic table and fire pit next to it. The site is about 8 minutes off the highway and makes a great stopping point. Would definitely stay here again.

For glamping not camping

Hot clean showers, all the tent sites platforms were covered with mushrooms and map is labeled completely wrong. 3 stars for the high quality amenities available but needs site maintenance.

Interesting place

My family visited this campground once and it was a great time. The most interesting part about it is that there are bunnies running around everywhere. There is also a river to play in, tube down, or fish in. The campground even has a small waterfall right on the river.

The place is also not that far from some great hiking in the area, such as Crab Tree Falls.

There are some campsites right on the river, which are beautiful.

The workers were very friendly.

It ok

Don't stay there if you have a large group of any more then 10 campers. We called ahead and asked if they had a group site and they said they did. Sites are hard to read where the boundaries are. Also quiet hour means bed time there. No quietly sitting around the fire chilling.
