Prince William Forest RV Campground — Prince William Forest Park

Prince William Forest RV Campground accommodates RVs up to 32 feet with full hookups across 79 sites, though campers should prepare for challenging access roads and uneven terrain. The campground sits within Prince William Forest Park and requires phone reservations through the National Park Service. Most sites offer pull-through access, but the back rows present steep grades that can make leveling difficult for larger rigs.

The campground's staggered site layout creates more privacy than typical RV parks, with substantial tree coverage providing natural separation between neighbors. Megan K. notes the "lots are really staggered/ set back from each other so feels like you have more space." The central bathhouse receives consistent praise for cleanliness, though the walk from back-row sites requires a few extra minutes. A small pool and playground serve families, while a dog park accommodates pet owners.

Cell service remains strong with Verizon and other major carriers, but WiFi proves unreliable for work calls or streaming. The campground stocks basic RV supplies and propane, with two dump stations available for convenient waste disposal. Fire rings and picnic tables equip each site, though campers report needing extra leveling blocks due to uneven ground conditions.

Located five minutes from major highways, the campground provides easy access to Washington DC area attractions while maintaining a forested setting. Thomas describes it as a "quiet stay" despite proximity to main roads. The surrounding area offers biking opportunities, though hikers need to drive to the main park entrance for trail access. Row E provides the most reliable full hookup service for those requiring all utilities.

Campers regularly cited friendly staff and clean facilities including restrooms and pool as highlights. Many mentioned leveling challenges and close site spacing, while wifi connectivity was frequently poor. The location offers convenient DC access.

Nice clean Campground

Stayed here for a week while working nearby. Easy to get to and set up. Office was closed when we arrived but arrival paperwork was posted outside office door. Even with busy road nearby, park was quiet and felt private. Sites were level and paved making setup easy. Sites had 1/2 site extra paved for vehicle with extra parking nearby. There was no litter in park, we observed a staff member daily making the rounds to keep everything clean. There was walking access into the park on wide private roads without traffic. With park access you are able to walk into national forest park from RV camp. National Forest visitor center close by, 1 exit away going south I95. Amenities in RV park included swimming pool, chess board with extra large pieces, playground and clean bath house. Firewood and ice on site.

Beautiful views - steep sites

caution though, the back row is steep. We were unable to get our Super C level.  The rain created red clay mud so the dogs were a mess - actually became sort of comical.  All in all it was a beautiful and clean location.  Try and reserve row E if you need full hook up

Decent Overnight Rest Stop

About 5 minutes off the highway, we stopped here for a night on our trip home. Close to plenty of amenities. Sites are paved and mostly level and pull through. HOWEVER, the sites are very small (short, so you will have to unhook)

Great Escape while still close to civilization

We loved the location of this RV park. We enjoyed our long-term stay. Laundry facilities need to be updated since a majority of the time they were out of commission and the wifi is almost non-existent. The staff is lovely and friendly. Grateful we were able to stay for as long as we did.

Good campground for overnight stay

Nothing too exciting going on here. Most sites do not have sewer access or decent access to Wi-Fi. Front office staff were cool and decent selection of RV supplies if you forget anything. There's a pool and playground. Family friendly location. Sites were close together. Quiet stay, great weather in April.

Great campsite close to DC.

3rd time we stayed here. Here to work in my office for a week in person during COVID telework. Convenient to the National Forest with great hiking. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores.

Great spot with hookups by PW park

If you, like me, hate making reservations over the phone, it was worth it! Quick, simple, painless process.

Restrooms/showers: very clean, spacious, centrally located. My spot was in the back row and I didn't mind the walk

Lots: lots are really staggered/ set back from each other so feels like you have more space. Average lot size in general, but the set back feels like you have more space. It wasn't crowded either way, especially given on a weekend

Small pool

Wifi: don't plan on being able to have work zoom calls or really much on it for that matter

Cell service: I can confirm Verizon and Google fi have great service. I would imagine any other carrier would work just as well.

Area: the surrounding area is really bikeable

Hookups: I had a 30amp hookup with no issues. They also have up to 50amp full hookups. All of them looked well maintained.

Staff: super friendly; great check in experience They have a dog park but didn't get a chance to check it out.

Overall: great experience, would recommend

Nice place

This is a small facility that is well maintained. The staff is amazing. The showers are clean/hot and the playground is in very good condition.

If the campground had better wifi and cable it would get five stars.

Diverse friendly RV campers!

Convenient

Campground is close (ish) to the DC area. It is easy and convenient to get to. Almost all sites are pull through and are close together. Most have some tree cover (and some of the trees could use a trim along the roads). Some long term guests occupy the back sites which have sewer.

Close to Prince William Forest which is a fantastic National Parks forest.

Att coverage is good.

Playground is nice.

Convenient Pull-through

Snug campground with nice, clean bathroom and pool. Adjacent to Prince William Forest, near shops and restaurants, and less than an hour away from Washington, DC. Good nature getaway from the city. The downside is that there are no trails accessible onsite and the campground is pretty close to main road. It is a slight drive to the main park entrance.

Quiet and clean

This is such a nice campground. Clean with great tree coverage. All sites are pull thru with the exception of about 6 sites in the far back. We tow a 34 foot RV and our tow vehicle is a Chevy Silverado 3500 HD dually. Anything wider and longer would have forced us to give up our site and boondock somewhere. Sites are nice but small and close together. Bring lots of leveling blocks too! Took our jack all the way down and we still weren’t entirely level. Overall, nice place. I would return knowing now what I do
