Beautiful campground, great location

We stayed for five nights at the end June. We were extremely happy with our site and were tempted to stay through the following weekend. We were completely canopied by trees and our site was quite level. The power was stable and the water pressure was good. The amenities were all clean and in good working order. They even have a 1 ft deep kiddie pool that was great for our toddler! The staff was wonderful and the grounds were very well maintained. The location cannot be beat. There is a Harris Teeter close by and you can be at Colonial Williamsburg within 15 minutes. We are already talking about coming back in the fall when the leaves are changing.

Great Experience

We stayed for 2 nights while visiting Williamsburg. The campground was very clean, the staff was nice and very professional, and the views from our location were pretty good. We felt we had plenty of room and descent privacy, as the park was not at full capacity during our stay. There were plenty of activities for all to enjoy.  As advertised this campground is very close to many amenities and attractions in the area. We will definitely stay at this location again the next time we are in the area.

Really deserves 4.5 stars!

Couple nights

3⭐️ since I can’t give .5⭐️ if I could I would give 2.5⭐️. Rating mainly for vicinity to parks, customer service, and amenities. Lack of stars was more due to the site itself.

I normally like to try and stay at state campgrounds but due to the proximity to Busch Gardens & Colonial Williamsburg we decided to try out a KOA for the first time.

Customer service is very good. We had originally booked a tent only site but they asked if they could move us over to an alternative rv site due to flooding (I think that was the reason). I mentioned I didn’t want to be surrounded by rvs and the attendant assured us we wouldn’t be since it was pretty quiet this time of year and no one was booked in that area.

Campsite was an open piece of land with absolutely no barriers between. But like I said no one else was around us anyway. I definitely wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much if we had neighbors.

The site we stayed at did have a walking trail right behind us which a lot of people used. Wasn’t a big deal since we were barely there but I could see this might bother some people. There was also some short fenced in area for a ball game (forgot what it was called but the kids knew and played there for a bit). So you could potentially have people walking back and forth close to the site to access the trail and ball game area also some just used it to play with their dogs in the field.

There was this odd sewer-ish type of smell. It wasn’t overpowering but we could smell it. We couldn’t figure out where it was coming from and didn’t bother asking the attendants about it. Again wasn’t overpowering but it was there.

There did seem like a lot for the kids to do but we were so busy with our outings we never enjoyed the amenities.

Great Choice in Williamsburg

One of the best campgrounds we’ve stayed at. It’s our first experience with a KOA, and so far impressed. The whole campground is shady, and while some sites appear pretty on top of one another most, including ours, are are standard. Great amenities, including a pool and a small splash pad. The jumping pillows are awesome for the kids. The only criticisms are that the dog park is very small, and the sewer hook up for our site is nearly above the outlet (although this seems site specific). We are in Williamsburg a lot and will definitely be back.

Everything and Then Some

This is a great place if you have kids and are visiting the area for Bush Gardens, Water Country USA, and Colonial Williamsburg.  They are within a few miles of everything.  They offer a great deal to keep the kids busy even on site.  There is 80 acres of wooded space, a heated pool, splash pad, jumping pillow, gravity rail, 9 hole disc golf, cable tv, firewood, store, bike rentals, dogie bath.  I think they had me at the doggie bath.  The sites are close together but not as bad as some I have seen.  I felt the folks at check in were very friendly.  Call for rates and reservations.

KOA

Not much to speak of, they had a nice little pool and a kids playground.  Sites are a little close and everything is wide open with little to no privacy or cover just a little too open for me.   Close to Williamsburg which is the one positive I have to say.   Staff and store were okay the staff was not rude, friendly but didn't seem like they wanted to be there it was just a job kind of thing.  Facilities were clean, roads are crushed stone and level sites.   We stayed 3 nights.

Clean

It was a clean and well taken care of . However the spots are very close together, too close for my comfort. Kids likes the play ground area. Staff for the most part was friendly except for the guy in the white truck driving around questioning people. Plays into the comment below about Them making sure rules are followed. Some spots are more level than others. I was on a gravel base. If I were to go back, I would get a spot with the pavers to reduce the mud on my shoes.

Williamsburg Trip

My familiy and I just camped at Wiliamsburg KOA for 3 days. The campground was large and clean. We had a site at the end of a row that was spacious. The staff was nice and  courteous. They seemed to patrol through the campground periodically and were trying make sure that campers followed rules of the campground, pool, and other amenities. They did not go through very much at night, which resulted in us being woken up at 1am to a party a few sites away.

The wifi at the campground was great, best we have ever had at any campground. Cell service with ATT&T and Verizon was hit or miss. Major attractions are pretty close by, a well as numerous food options an breweries. Overal this was a great experience at a great KOA, we will go back in the future.

Big. Maybe to big

Large, convenient campground. Too few bath facilities. Last minute issues with registration after 5+ hour drive was the last thing we needed. Will definitely try another campground next time

Family Friendly

Nice campground for families. Lots of entertainment. Unfortunately most of them were closed due to COVID, but the options ARE there when they fully open. Some spaces are tight, and unfortunately the spot we booked was a bit different than the picture. We booked a concrete site with a patio and got a gravel spot with a brick patio. Also, the sewer hookup was uphill from the campsite so our tanks wouldn’t drain. Otherwise, the stay was great and the staff was wonderful!

Love!

Great amenities. We went in march during a hot weekend and were surprised how cool it was - a great breeze goes through the camp. Loved getting ice cream and playing in the splash pad and pool. Fun paths to hike and coffee in the morning with deer-friends around. Will return with some non-camping friends who will enjoy the cabins or yurts!

Very nice campground

The cabin we stayed in was very nice. It had a very large back deck with a picnic table. We chose one without a bathroom, and the bathhouse was a very short walk. They have plenty of recreational activities for the kids. The staff was friendly and helpful. The playgrounds and pool were very clean, and the store had everything we needed. It is a very short drive off the highway and an easy commute to all of Williamsburg’s attractions. My only complaint is that my dogs typically travel everywhere with me, but I was not allowed to bring them on this trip because pit bulls are the ONLY breed they don’t allow on the campgrounds. However, if you have other breeds there is a very small dog park for them to run around and play. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay at other KOAs when the dogs are not with us.

Nice, quiet, fun

We had a great time last weekend. The pool and splashpad are fun, the pad is slippery and a little dangerous though. The petting zoo activity was nice and my boys enjoyed it. I wish there were a few more activities. The park is large and lots of spots were open. Overall, we had a nice time and I'd recommend this campground.

Close to popular tourist destinations

This campground is family and dog friendly and close to Williamsburg tourist destinations.  It has multiple sites for rvs, tents, camping cabins, yurts, and nicer more fully equipped cabins with bathrooms.  They even have a fantastic dog bath and holding kennel in case you have more than one dog.  They have a pool with a sprayground and a grassy area with ping pong and corn hole.  Plus, they always have activities for the kids.  Love this place and can't wait to go back.

Well maintained campground

The staff was very helpful making sure the site we reserved would hold our large tent.  Bathrooms were well maintained, clean and offered plenty of hot water.  Campground store offered basics and a few extras.  The check in materials provide a good list of local resources (emergency care, pharmacies, etc.).

Good range of extras for kids - playground, bounce pillow, rec area with games, basketball area, game field and some extra events such as animals for petting one night.  The campground is pet friendly.

Close to everything

We stayed a week there in the Colonial section of the Campground. The sites are older and a bit tighter. Our site was pull through, not sure how we would get through if there was a full campground, luckily we had room to move around.

Your very close to Busch Gardens, Watercountry and Williamsburg.

The campground has a nice pool area and rec room.

Your about 5 Miles from Walmart and other shopping needs. This campground is good for the purpose of visiting outside places and then coming back to relax.

Misleading

The website to this campground is very misleading. There are 2 completely different campgrounds, although it says side: Colonial and Williamsburg (aka quiet side). We booked an extended stay reservation at this campground and was put on the quiet side. The website boasts an array of amenities but what they fail to tell you is that they are only available on the Colonial side. The Williamsburg side is awful. And you cannot go to the other side to enjoy the amenities...it is off limits! Although they advertise WiFi it is nonexistent unless you walk up to the store. The campsites are a mud pit when it rains. Cellular service is horrible...I have verizon and could only get 1 bar most of the time. And when I complained to the owner, I was asked to leave the premises within 24 hours. This was my first experience with a KOA and it will be my last. I would not recommend the Williamsburg side at this campground. We drove through the Colonial side and it was really nice. It's a shame that this owner chooses to do business this way. CAMPER BEWARE

Quiet side is real quiet...

Spent the week leading up to the 4th of July. Tight campground. Had a small 28 foot travel trailer and had trouble navigating the trees. Saw a large 5th wheel take out part of a split rail fence. If you have kids, stay in the family part. WiFi does not work. Very limited cell service. can make calls, but not much data. if I returned to the area, I would look for different options.

Great campground- 10 minutes from all attractions

We had a lovely time at this KOA! Great service, tons of amentities, shaded spots, lots of activities! Conveniently located 10 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, Outlet shopping, Busch Gardens, Jamestown, and close to Yorktown beaches and sailing. It’s very clean. The only things was a terrible connection but if you don’t reply on WiFi for a good camping trip you’ll be ok. The WiFi was better early morning for anyone needing to check on work stuff. Highly recommend!

Lots to do with kids..... planned activities like Petting zoo, hayrides, and movie night, and campground amenities like a pool (was chilly though), bounce pillows, bikes, short hiking trails, and ice cream shop. We stayed in one of the cabins for a "camping light" experience with our young kids and enjoyed it. Bathrooms and showers clean.

Fabulous base camp for williamsburg

We had a site near the back which were smaller. This was a good trade-off for the shade -- it was hot! Kids loved the pool and play structures. Dog enjoyed the small fenced run with agility equipment. Overall it was a great place to come back to relax after going through the historic sites in the area.
