Amazing primitive sites!

We love the primitive sites at Nathan Bedford Forest! Each site is along the River banks, so you get the best views! Fire pits and picnic tables included. The bathhouse is very old though and does not have a shower. That is the only reason I couldn’t give this one 5 stars!

Packed in like sardines

We like state parks because they offer lots to do and sites are usually a little spread out. That is not the case there! These sites are packed in like sardines!! We were lucky to have a site that backed up to the creek, so that made the stay a little more enjoyable. We are at the lodge for dinner…

On the lake

Stayed in lot 18. Shade was great. Lake is beautiful spots are gravel pads with fire ring. On vault toilet, good but not totally maintained. Busy on weekends. Some lots traffic due to boat ramp. Far corner fairly good

Closest access to Nashville attractions

Overall this is a good campground. It is right on the lake and probably the best access to downtown Nashville and other attractions. It is part of a water park which was closed when we were there, which might change things. Sites are spaced out well and easy to access. WiFi and cell were both…

Best place I’ve been on the water

Great place for backcountry though you can drive right to the spot. The gravel road back can be rough especially right after a big rain but you can avoid most of the holes. The site is right on the water with a gravel opening beside it. We were able to setup 4 tents with lots of room to spare. We…

On my list of go-backs

Primitive and out of the way. Great for what it is.

Beautiful

This was our first stay here, and we had heard great things about it. It is a beautiful state park known as the"Queen of Tennessee's State Parks". There are 4,000 acres with mountain biking, fishing, hiking, picnic areas, kayaking/canoeing, and a golf course. Nashville is only 45 minutes away. The…

Neville Bay is A-OK

Ok, that's cheesy but true. Several groups there when we went. Very clean, well maintained primitive campground on the south end of LBL. Four stars, for what it is. If there was electric and water it would be a solid 5. Secluded but still accessible.

One of our favorites!

We’ve been tent camping for years and try to find places somewhat close to home because we bring our bulldogs with us. This campground is absolutely one of our favorites.

It is relatively small, but the bathhouses are super clean, and the staff are amazing. I’m hesitant to let our secret out, but…

Awesome! Incredible views

Bring your atv, dirt bike or sidexside and cruise the trails right along Lake Barkley. They have over 100 miles of trails. They also have bathrooms and showers to rinse off after a day of enjoying hiking or riding. Pull a camper, drive an RV or pitch a tent. Swimming in the summer and fishing year…

A Good Boondocking Spot!

About four miles of winding hills off the paved road. Cleared and not too rough. The site has 18 designed spots, all tiered into the wooded hillside. There is a natural boat launch into Bards Lake. A single Vault toilet and Dumpster as well. The gravel camping pads are reasonably level, each with a…

Nice hidden gem

We are on the river side. Spaces are nicely spaced. Views are perfect. Staff is very nice. The non river side is the same as most rv spots.

If you like a quiet place, this is for you

We camped in off-season and the place was quite empty. Camp host told us it was always pretty quiet. Sites are close together, most with a pitch. We had a water view- a finger of Barkley Lake. The park has a restaurant, stables & marina (unsure if both were closed due to covid, or off-season).…
