Hidden Creek is nestled at the base of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. 64-acre park boasts Full Hook-Up; Water/Electric and tent sites; and cozy cabins. Guests can enjoy paddleboats, canoes and kayaks on the water, and then relax with 9 holes of miniature golf and gem mining onsite. A 300-foot waterslide, junior Olympic pool and kiddie pool help beat the summer heat, while fishing, crafts, bag toss, dances, swimming, s’more roasts, volleyball, bingo, and movies under the stars at the family theatre ensure the entire family enjoys their stay. The park is also a great home base for exploring the North Carolina mountains, with an easy drive to Chimney Rock, Grandfather Mountain Linville Caverns and the many gorgeous waterfalls in the area.



Hidden Creek Camping Resort

Lake James Camping offers a full menu of activities. Along with boating, swimming and fishing in the beautiful, clear waters of the 6,812-acre lake, there are 25 miles of trails, 15 of which are open to mountain biking. Trails vary from the short, educational Holly Discovery Trail with child-friendly activities, to the more adventurous, historic section of the Overmountain Victory Trail. There are three campgrounds. The Catawba River Area has 20 walk-in campsites, many of which offer lake views. The Paddy’s Creek Area has 33 drive-to, family-friendly campsites. The remote boat-in campground on the Long Arm Peninsula offers a true outdoor adventure for those willing to paddle or steer their canoes, kayaks or powerboats to their own slice of heaven. Boat ramps at Hidden Cove and Canal Bridge on NC 126 are located between the park’s two day-use areas. And, canoe, kayak and paddleboard rentals are available at the Paddy’s Creek Area concession stand from May through September.

What Makes Our Campground Special?

Grand View Campground & RV Park is a 56-acre property located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on Highway 226 in Casar, North Carolina. The campground is adjacent to the gorgeous First Broad River. In addition to providing a place where people can escape the rat race for a while, our goal is to extend a family-friendly atmosphere where people of all ages can enjoy themselves year round. We currently offer a fairly extensive list of amenities and activities, and we plan to lengthen that list as we grow. Our hope is that you’ll be right there with us every step of the way.

The big blue water slide is one of the main attractions to our campground for the kids – both young and old. Single-slide, hourly, and daily passes are available for purchase.Adults and Kids Coming Down the Slide

Another popular drawing card is our easy access to the First Broad River for fishing, wading, canoeing, kayaking, and tubing. Kids love to play in Mountain Creek too. And of course, both the river and the creek are wonderful for those of us who simply love observing or relaxing in nature. Additionally, we offer tubing rentals, which includes rental of a tube and transportation to the starting point of a 1.25-hour trip down the First Broad River back to the campground.

Throughout the year, we hold special events at Grand View. Those include live musical entertainment, holiday celebrations, and more. If you sign up on our website and follow our blog, you’ll be one of the first to know when the next special event gets scheduled. We post our special events on Facebook too.

Chilling Out Around the CampfireWe offer campsites for RVs, campers, and tents. We also rent campers with campsites. Some of our sites are full hook-up (water, power, septic), and others are basic. Most of our sites have picnic tables and grills. There’s a camping store on the premises that sells shaved ice, ice cream, snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and miscellaneous camping supplies. Adjacent to the camping store are bath houses, restrooms, and a laundry room.

We encourage our guests to enjoy other activities that we offer on site such as basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, hiking, biking, arts and crafts, bingo, Basic campsite by the creek with picnic table is one of the amenities at Grand Viewswinging, seesawing, and more. And there’s plenty of room for a game of softball, soccer, flag football, dodgeball, tag, etc. Or simply relax in one of the porch rocking chairs, or enjoy watching the kids play on the water slide from one of the patio picnic tables.

We love animals. Cats and dogs are welcome at Grand View provided they are kept on leashes and don’t cause problems for our other guests.

Grand View Campground & RV Park is far enough away from the hustle ‘n bustle that you can easily relax, sit back, and enjoy the serenity and beauty of nature. Yet it’s close enough to many towns, cities, and other nearby attractions that you can take a short day trip and enjoy most anything you want to enjoy: hiking, boating, biking, swimming, live music, movies, museums, theme park, history, science, racing, zoos, good food, shopping, and more. And that’s in addition to all the many fun things we have for you to do right here at Grand View Campground & RV Park!

This is a private piece of property in a quiet area of Buncombe County, just outside of Asheville but just before Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.  Many things to do , hike, climb, cycle or motorbikes.  A girlfriend of mine has about 30 horses and allows paid rides if you like.  Too much to list for the area but would love to discuss it with anyone.

Backcountry campers must make a reservation online or by calling 1-877-722-6762 before setting up at a campsite. Campers can make same-day reservations up until 9:00pm the day of your arrival. Upon arrival, use the self-check-in through the Reserve America Camping App.

*ATTENTION BACKCOUNTRY CAMPERS* Please be advised that these sites will ONLY accomodate a maximum of 6 people. If your group has more than 6 people, additional sites will need to be reserved.

Sink gratefully into your sleeping bag after a day of hiking at South Mountains and fall asleep in the stillness of the forest.

Twenty-four backpack camping sites are offered in seven areas of the park.

Permit and fees are required to camp overnight. Please visit the visitor center prior to hiking to your campsite to fill out the permit and pay the fees. A kiosk outside the visitor center allows campers to register and pay the fees if they arrive when the visitor center is closed.

These sites are designated on the park map, and hiking distances to each backpack camping site vary. Each camping area has a pit toilet located nearby.

All supplies, including water, must be packed to the sites. To drink water from nearby creeks and streams, use a filtration device or boil the water for at least five minutes.

Below is a listing of the backpack campsites and the distance between the campsites and the Jacob Fork parking area:

    Upper Falls – 1.4 miles

1.5 MILE HIKE TO CAMPSITES
Maximum group size of 6 people per site.
At the park office, back country campers must record the tag numbers of all vehicles left overnight.
Water can be found most of the year in a nearby stream. Water must be filtered prior to use.
Fires only in fire ring.
A North Carolina State fishing license (basic) and the special trout fishing license are required to fish. Licenses are not sold at the park.
Please arrive a minimum of 1 hour prior to sunset to allow time to get to the camping area before dark.
North Carolina State park rules and regulations are posted in each park and enforced by rangers. Violating these rules and regulations is a misdemeanor and may result in a fine and revocation of permit.
Alcoholic beverages, firearms (including fireworks) and other weapons are prohibited. Campers with a proper permit may possess a concealed handgun in permitted areas.
Park Hours: November -- 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM; December through February -- 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM; March, April and October -- 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM; May through September 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Pets are allowed except in park buildings. They must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
Posted quiet hours are enforced.
Building fires in undesignated areas is prohibited.
Unlicensed vehicles and motorcycles, golf carts, ATVs and mini-bikes are prohibited with the exception of mobility-aid devices used by a mobility-impaired person. All vehicles are prohibited from walkways, trails and other areas not designated for such purposes.
State vehicle and traffic laws are enforced, and the speed limit is 25 mph unless otherwise posted.
North Carolina State parks are wildlife sanctuaries. No hunting is allowed and collecting plants, minerals and artifacts is prohibited. State fishing regulations are enforced.
