## Overview

Badin Lake Campground borders the lakeshore and sits within a shaded forest, offering a year-round retreat for swimmers, boaters and anglers in central North Carolina's Uwharrie National Forest. Badin Lake Recreation Area is a hub for the area's outdoor activities, and the campground offers spacious, waterfront sites for both RV and tent campers.

## Recreation

Badin Lake Recreation Area offers many ways for campers to enjoy the lake. Popular activities include picnicking on the shore or swimming, boating or fishing for bass, bream, crappie and catfish on the water. Anglers and boaters have the convenience of a boat ramp 2 miles from the campground.   
  
About 40 miles of non-motorized trails are available for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking, as well as 17 miles of motorized trails for off-road vehicle riding. The surrounding land offers both big and small game hunting.

## Facilities

The campground has two loops of non-electric sites, some of which lie on the shore. Each site is near drinking water and is equipped with a table, grill, lantern post, campfire ring and tent pad. Flush toilets and showers are located in both loops. No dump station is available. **The upper loop sites #23-35 are unavailable from January 1 to March 12, 2020.**

## Natural Features

The campground lies in a dense forest of pines and hardwoods near the shore of 5,000-acre Badin Lake.   
  
Winter temperatures range from the low 30s to upper 50s, while summer brings temperatures in the upper 80s and 90s and high humidity. The weather is pleasant in spring and fall, with high temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

A theme park with a petting zoo, nature center and mini golf course lies just under an hour away and makes a fun day trip for families.

**Forest Lake RV Camping** is nestled on 306 acres of prime recreational land along the banks of the Yadkin River. You'll see much wildlife at our **Advance, NC RV campground** including deer, turkey, squirrel, many species of hawk, and lots of game fish including bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill. All RV sites have full hook-ups and there are 18 cozy cabins for rent. Many miles of trails are accessible from this Thousand Trails **Advance, NC RV campground** for hiking, biking and horseback riding and golf carting. Close to **Forest Lake RV Camping** , the town of Lexington is home to one of the South's largest food festivals, the Lexington Barbecue Festival, enjoyed by over 100,000 folks in late October. Book a stay to count our sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, chickens and geese; there should be about 100! And we offer "Animal Therapy" where you can sit quietly among our animals and just let them come to you!



We offer both tent and RV camping in an empty pasture adjacent to our grazing pasture where you can enjoy our animals in their natural habitat. Or, come up to the barn and get up close and personal with them during an "Animal Therapy" session!



Pitch your tent on the edge of the woods or close by the stream in the woods. If you enjoy quietly watching wildlife, you're in for a treat...this magical portion of the farm provides a forest cover for songbirds, owls, deer, red-tailed hawks, red fox and wild turkey.



We only allow check-ins Friday afternoons with a checkout on Saturday, or Sunday. Weekends are when we open the Farm to visitors (campers and non-campers alike) to visit our animals and our Farm Store with a variety of groceries, supplies, gifts, and critter food in .50/bags so you can feed your choice of animals!



Our farm is an agritourism farm which means we offer events, workshops, and tours to the public for a small fee. Our campers enjoy a reasonable camp fee of $25/night for a maximum of 2 nights. We don't have hookups, so bring a generator if you need it.



While we are dog-friendly, we also observe a dog-free zone, which is any area where we have our animals, so enjoy your leashed pet around the camping area, woods or along our driveway but please do not bring your dog past the gates that lead to our house, chicken yard, farm store, barn or petting zoo.



Our large grassy field can accommodate multiple tent campers, travel trailers and RVs and we have picnic tables, porta potties and fire rings for each camping party to have their own space.



Brookhaven Mill Farm

Disperse camping is allowed in the Birkhead Mountains Wilderness. Camp at least 200 feet from all streams, creeks, roads and wildlife fields. When using fire rings, please disperse the ring before leaving camp. Use of cook stoves is highly recommended. Firewood is available as dead and down in the forest, please do not cut live trees for firewood. Also hunting is allowed in this area, orange would be advisable to wear during the hunting seasons, when hiking the trails.

Please pack all trash out with you when you leave. No mountain bikes or ATV's are allowed within the Wilderness area.

No permenant camps are allowed in the Wilderness area. Camping is allowed for a 14 day period with in a 30 day time frame. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash and kept under control.

Animals are allowed in the park but are not allowed on attractions.

All of the sites and cabins at Dan Nicholas Park are in the woods. We do not have sewer hookups on sites. Pets are allowed on sites only, not in cabin areas. We have a two night minimum for reservations on the weekends. Payment in full must be made to hold reservations. We do not do refunds, but we will issue rain checks if notified 4 days prior to first reservation date. These will be good for one year.

We feature large campsites with full hook-ups, 30/50 Amp, upgraded cable and access to Wi-Fi. Amenities we have to offer: a bathhouse and laundry, pool, fishing pond, playground and walking trails. Big RVs find it easy to maneuver the grounds and clubs enjoy the heated and cooled Meeting/Rec. Room.

This is a secluded, standalone, pull-through camping spot for all types of RVs.



## Overview

Badin Lake Group Camp offers a fun, relaxing place for clubs, families and other groups to rest and play in the Uwharrie National Forest of central North Carolina. The recreation area is a hub for outdoor activities such as hiking, off-road vehicle riding, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing and boating. The group campground is open year-round and can accommodate groups of up to 50 people per site.

## Recreation

Groups have easy access to many recreational opportunities at Badin Lake Recreation Area. The lake shore is the perfect place to watch the sunset or enjoy an afternoon picnic. The lake has plenty of calm water for swimming, boating or fishing for bass, bream, crappie and catfish. King's Mountain Point, just 1 mile from the group camp, has four accessible fishing piers, miles of shoreline and a nice swimming area. A boat ramp is located 2 miles from the campground.   
  
Back on land, about 40 miles of non-motorized trails are available for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking, as well as 17 miles of motorized trails for off-road vehicle riding. The surrounding land offers both big and small game hunting.

Badin Lake Group Camp offers three campsites for up to 50 people each, organized around a single loop. Each site has tables, grills and tent pads. The facility is equipped with flush toilets, vault toilets, showers and drinking water. The facility does not offer electrical hookups or a dump station.
