Divided into nine sections named after nearby cities and towns, the Natchez Trace is the ideal place to explore Mississippi’s Native American history. Pharr Mounds, located on the Tishomingo-Belmont section of the Natchez Trace, is an ancient burial ground used by nomadic tribes between 100 and 1200 A.D.  Another section—Donivan Slough—displays the wonders of Mississippi’s tulip poplars, sycamores and water oaks among the state’s swampy bottomlands.

Other amenities include boat ramps, multi-purpose trails, beaches and playgrounds.

Wallace Creek is a quiet, family-oriented campground situated along the banks of Enid Lake in the forests of northern Mississippi.

## Recreation

Enid Lake has been recognized as one of America's Top 10 Fishing Spots, with white crappie, bass and catfish available in abundance. The lake is the home of the world record white crappie, which weighed an impressive 5 pounds, 3 ounces. Fishing tournaments are held annually at the lake.   
  
Hiking trails wind along the lakeshore and throughout the surrounding landscape, offering hiking, biking and horseback riding opportunities.   
  
Boating is a popular pastime on the lake, and boat ramps are provided at the campground. 

## Facilities

Wallace Creek Campground offers 101 campsites, along with one large group picnic shelters. Modern amenities like full hookups and flush toilets are provided, and a playground and interpretive trail offer additional recreation opportunities.   
  
Picnic areas complete with grills and picnic tables make the area perfect for parties or family trips.

## Natural Features

Enid Lake is part of a dam project on the Yocona River. The dam creates almost 16,000 acres of water for the millions of annual visitors to enjoy. An additional 44,000 acres of thick, green forests surround the lake, offering countless recreational opportunities for campers, equestrians, hikers and more.

Memphis, Tennessee, located about an hour away, offers plenty of famous tourist attractions.

Wallace Creek

The 625-acre Bear Creek Lake Recreation Area has 30 miles of shore line and offers the following recreational opportunities: camping, picnicking, swimming, canoeing, fishing and hiking. Sitting atop Crowley’s Ridge, the recreation area offers three campgrounds, two picnic areas, a mile-long nature trail, a swim beach and a handicap-accessible fishing pier which all provide visitors a variety of recreational experiences. Bear Creek Nature Trail provides a one-mile loop winding through a forested area. There are excellent scenic views of the lake shoreline, including Beech Point, and interpretive posts that highlight ecology in action. Trophy Largemouth Bass, Red-eyed Bream and Channel Catfish are just a few of the many species of fish that you’ll find in the lakes and streams in the area.
