Best Campgrounds near Brookhaven, MS

Campgrounds surrounding Brookhaven, Mississippi provide a diverse range of overnight accommodations within the pine forests and lake environments of southwest Mississippi. Several established campgrounds like Lake Lincoln State Park, Percy Quin State Park, and Clear Springs Recreation Area in the Homochitto National Forest offer full-service campsites with tent areas, RV hookups, and cabin rentals. The region includes both state park facilities with developed amenities and more remote national forest sites where visitors can experience a quieter, more natural setting among the rolling hills and small lakes characteristic of this part of Mississippi.

Road conditions vary throughout the region, with some campgrounds accessible via paved highways while others require navigation along forest service roads. "This is a US Forest Service campground in the Homochitto Forest. It's definitely off the beaten track but worth the drive," noted one visitor about Clear Springs Lake Recreation Area. Summer temperatures typically range from hot and humid days to warm evenings, with insects being most prevalent during this season. Cell phone coverage can be spotty at more remote locations, particularly in the national forest areas. Most campgrounds offer water and electric hookups, though primitive tent-only sites are available at locations like Clear Springs. Seasonal considerations include potential flooding after heavy rains, which can affect low-lying campsites near water features.

Waterfront access represents a significant draw for campers in the region, with many sites offering views of small lakes or proximity to fishing areas. The Clear Springs Lake Recreation Area features scenic wooded campsites with a hiking trail around the lake. A visitor commented, "Some of the campsites border part of the lake and more are wooded. Our campsite had a pretty picnic area with a wooden rail all around it and wooden steps down from the campsite to the picnic/grill area." Campers frequently mention the peaceful, wooded environments as highlights of their stays. Public facilities like Percy Quin State Park offer additional recreational amenities including swimming areas, playgrounds, and fishing piers. Several campgrounds provide shower facilities and restrooms, though amenities vary significantly between developed state parks and more rustic forest service campgrounds. Wildlife viewing opportunities include deer, particularly at Paradise Ranch RV Resort where visitors can see and interact with red stag deer.

    DLo Water Park

Nice play areas easy access from highway

Easy to get too off of the highway- sites are nice and level with cement pads and picnic tables and grills. Two playgrounds for the kids

Only reason for three stars and not five is the bathroom and shower were not great.

    Wendy Oaks RV Resort

    Quiet and easy

Spacious park that’s easy to navigate and get parked and set up. We stop here on our way to FL each year ~ end of May. The grounds are peaceful and there’s a little lake and looks like you could rent a kayak.

    Natchez State Park Campground

    Disaster Area

The entry road is not really suited to most RVs The electric box has a wasp nest The concrete slab was partially covered in mud The picnic table area was covered in fire ants everywhere plus a huge ant hill Laundry is out of service The campground has no lawn care and you are basically camping in a mud jungle Mosquitoes were thick Leaves were deep There were two other campers 1 van, 1 motorcycle No on-site rangers or staff We never unhooked and left We will attempt to get our money back

    DLo Water Park

    Tents

Plenty of river to explore and shuttles to pick you up after a float too. Good fishing, and good river banks. Very scenic tent camping, with the river right behind you.

Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground

    Sadly disappointed

I went to visit Cleat Springs. It is run down, roads are narrow and broken up, there are water moccasins in the lake. Nothing like the beautiful place it was.

    Clear Springs Recreation Area

No primitive sites found. Small RVs can fit.

It has 2 separate areas, both have electric and water at the sites. $25. Smaller RVs and tents only. Dump site at the entrance. There are trials, large picnic areas, and an older bath house with hot showers. Big pond for fishing and swimming.

    Lake Mary Crawford

Small, clean campground on a small lake.

RV and primitive are separated. $25 for RV. $20 for primitive. There is a older bath house. Quiet and clean. Good bluegill fishing.

    Clear Springs Recreation Area

    Quiet, clean, $20

There's 2 separated campgrounds. The lower site is less accessible for longer campers. $20 per night includes water, power, gravelled site, fire ring, and day use. Lots of trails and a large pond to fish and swim. Picnic areas and well maintained banks. I read a review that stated free primitive camping, but I found no such location.

Natchez Trace Parkway - Rocky Springs

Looks like a very nice place

I drove through,  The sites are level, clean and about half a pull through.  Each site has a picnik bench fire pit.  However, I did not stay because it had absolutely no Tmobile cell service and being alone and full time.  I did not feel like camping without it.  I did fine another campground on the same road about 150 miles north east. which I stayed at.
