Beautiful new bath house

Two small loops. Enough space between sites you are not to crowded. Trails to explore. It has been quiet and the RV site area is mostly full.

Lots to do here!

The primitive campsite was very nice. Even though the park was a bit crowded we still had privacy. The dog park was perfect for our two large dog, very clean. My toddler had a very easy time walking around which was a huge plus!  The marsh trails were perfect for viewing wildlife. 10/10, would recommend!

Great for Teardrop camping

Sites are affordable and not too close together. The bathhouse was being renovated so there was only one unisex bathroom but it was very clean and nicely updated.  $8 bundles of firewood at the camp store. Fire rings and charcoal grills at every RV site.

There is a disc golf course, an archery range, and a large multi-use field as well as a small boat launch.

Adequate camping

The roads are gravel, sites are level, electric is strong and reliable (I haven’t tested the water yet). There is 1 dump station on at the entrance, and 1 large dumpster. The sites are spacious, have fire rings and decent picnic tables. There are several pull-through sites, but most are back-in. The staff are friendly. It seems like there are several long-time/permanent residents here.

The showers are adequate—no mold or mildew, tiled, nice benches, plenty of hooks and hot water. The rest of the bathroom is quite old and stained, but generally clean, if outdated/chipped/showing age.

There are several trails, lots of trees and underbrush, a playground. There is an archery range, and boat launch.

AT&T is 1 bar, Verizon is 2-3 bars.

Shepard State Park, Gautier MS

I love this park, camp sites are well spaced and private with some water fronting on the Pascagoula River. Water and electric at each site with dump station at the entrance. Can't beat the price at $18 a night, reservations available on their website.

Cool Wooded Park with Ample Primitive Camping

Pulled in here and initially thought it was full until I saw signs for two primitive camping areas.

One had a small boat launch area for fishing boats or personal watercraft.

The other was perfectly situated at a few of the park's trailheads.

I chose the latter. For $13, it was a chill overnight spot, although the buggiest of my trip so far.

Not sure if primitive campers can use restrooms and showers in RV park, but they are there!

Nice park

Nice campground set in the forest. The roads in the park could use a little attention. The bathroom next to my site was freshly remodeled, and clean. Campsites are not on top of each other. Lots of hiking trails, I didn't have a chance to explore much as I was only there over night.

Decent place

When considering this place, you have to remember the location. It isn’t the most convenient location to begin with.. my wife and I played disc golf there. It was also a decent course. Probably wouldn’t be my first place to itch to return to.

Wouldn't stay again

So, this is probably the worst state park we have stayed at yet. The bathrooms were pretty gross and there was absolutely nothing special about this place. They did have some trails and I enjoyed a walk on them, but it’s honestly not that much of an enjoyable stop! We definitely would not stay there again.
