Great spot

This was my first time camping in over 10 years and my first solo trip. I felt really safe. The bath house was cleaned regularly. The lake was beautiful. It's easy to find off the highway, and far enough from the next town to be quiet but not so far if you have a reason to go into town (like say,…

Gorgeous and quiet spot along the Shenandoah River

Normally we’re tent campers, but this time we opted for the climate controlled cabins of this state park. Cabins were wonderful. Essentially a little house off in its own little “cabin neighborhood.” Kitchen was fully stocked with just about anything you’d need. Only thing you need to bring are…

The big meadows campground

My wife and I love coming to the big meadows campground. They are awesome. They get full quickly so make sure you reserve your campground wayy in advance! I recommend the D loop campgrounds they’re more into the nature I would say. Very quiet at night and very relaxing.

Squeezing in a trailer

We made a decision to camp on the eve of a potential blizzard. The grounds have sites in close proximity to a toilet without running water. When we arrived, half of the sites were occupied, but only a few left notes on the board as was requested by the service. We were pulling a 15' trailer and…

Very Decent

My tent spot was #4. The picnic table was missing a board on top. The campground is basically one big circle. There was a couple arguing across the way. Didn't really bother me. But if your sensitive to noise at night just know there's that potential. There are lots of trees that provide some…

Tough night

It was raining… HEAVY… but that aside, it is a great little area along the river. You really need to be proficient at backing the RV into tight spaces… there is not a lot of room. There is a bizarre amount of traffic at the camp site, maybe due to the zip line adventures. It makes maneuvering…

Great stop for an overnight.

Well groomed sites split into three main sections. Several hammock friendly (we were in 121 in the dogwood loop). Flat motorcycle parking, but bring a puck for your kick stand. Firewood and ice for sale at the check-in point. Quiet with modern bathrooms. Drinking water available. Fire pits have…

Quiet easy access

This is our 3rd time staying here on our travels. Sites are nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. The Civil War history and sites are very interesting. And the Caverns right at the campground are very beautiful! Would recommend at least 3 nights to get it all in.

Good experience - skip the tour

We found this campground via a great YouTube video. Drove in shortly after Ida hit so it was washed out (gravel issues). Glad I had 4WD because I needed it to get my camper into the site. Site c35 was private but sloped. Many other sites looked bigger and flatter. Lots of pull throughs and big rigs…

Trains, trains, trains. And a river

Boy oh boy. Where to begin. Trains. Literally every half hour a train goes right behind the campground, waking everybody up. If you're in a tent, that's not so great. Also theres a one way tunnel to get to the campground, and all these cars seem to thinks its really necessary to honk at least five…

Fantastic primitive camping

Green Ridge is a great place to get into deep boonies and get away from other people. Be aware, many of the roads(trails?)are very rough and not very suited to large pull behinds or full RVs. Most of the sites are better to haul your tent and gear in with something 4WD. Camp sites are generally…

Enjoyed our time

Only there for 1 day but enjoyed the very well spaced sites. Parents had one site we had another. Quiet grounds and clean. Didn’t use bathhouse, laundry facilities. Fire pits and picnic tables in good shape. Sites themselves were level. My Younger kids loved the zero entry pool and the playground.

Free, quiet, cell service!

Tent sites are rough, some outside ring sites have tent pads.
