## Overview

Fry Creek Campground is situated in the heart of Cleveland National Forest, uniquely located down the road from the world-famous Palomar Observatory. The fresh, clean air of the campground provides a refreshing getaway for visitors from San Diego and Los Angeles. 

The observatory, atop Palomar Mountain, boasts five high-tech telescopes, among them, the massive 200-inch Hale Telescope, was the world's largest effective telescope for about 45 years. The observatory is owned by the California Institute of Technology and astronomical research includes near-Earth asteroids and the study of distant galaxies. 

## Recreation

At Observatory Campground, the site across from Fry Creek, there's a popular astronomy event called Explore the Stars.   
  
Amateur astronomers gather here with their telescopes and share views of planets and constellations with visitors. The event takes place one weekend each month, April through October.

## Facilities

A loop hike, great for exploring local flora and fauna, surrounds Fry Creek.   
  
The campground sits beneath a dense pine canopy, which is not ideal for stargazing, but Observatory Campground across the road has level cement platforms for telescopes and an amphitheater that's open to campers.

## Natural Features

Fry Creek is at a 4,900 ft. elevation on Palomar Mountain. The area is dense with evergreen and oak, and is usually cooler than the surrounding area. 

## Nearby Attractions

The visitor center at Palomar Observatory is 2.2 miles away and can be accessed by road or by hiking trail. A restaurant and gift shop are onsite.

Frye creek campground 

- Enjoy our quite, secluded property and get away from it all. Yet it’s only 15 to 20 min drive from the Temecula winery’s with many restaurants, shopping, and Casino options. We are right by a horseback riding tour company and an incredible metal art galley. Enjoy the panoramic views of MT Palomar. We have plenty of space for big RVS or for someone who just wants to pitch a tent. There is fresh water to fill your tanks but you must be able to boondock your rig as there is no electric hookups or sewage. No one lives on the property so you will only have other campers near by.





JMP RV

Camping with a view of river and mountains. Our property is connected to a trail head that leads to the Santa Margarita preserve and river. 1,384 Acre preserve. Lots of hiking and fishing straight off of the property. Far enough from the city to enjoy the outdoors but close enough for the convenience of shopping and restaurants.

Via Del Gavilan Camp

Located right off scenic Highway 79, Majestic Oaks Campground is an exclusive retreat above Sunshine Summit and Holcomb Village. This magnificent campground boasts 390 acres of space, housing six distinct campsites, each offering both privacy and spaciousness. Bordered by Cleveland National Forest and Public Land Preserves, Majestic Oaks Campground is wonderfully isolated, providing a serene escape from the bustle of everyday life.

The views from Majestic Oaks Campground are truly breathtaking. Watch the sun set over Palomar Mountain to the west, or take in the meadows of Warner Springs and Lake Henshaw to the south. To the east, you'll witness the sunrise over San Diego's highest point, Hot Springs Mountain, and to the north lies the stunning Beauty Mountain.

Just in the valley below, three boutique wineries - Sierra Robles Vineyards and Winery, Shadow Mountain Vineyards and Winery, and La Serenissima Vineyards and Winery - invite you to experience the local flavors. For any forgotten necessities, a gas station with a convenience store located at the foot of the hill in Sunshine Summit has you covered.

Just 10 minutes away, you'll find the renowned Warner Springs Ranch, complete with a restaurant, golf course, spa, mineral hot springs, Gliderport with sailplane rides, and horseback riding opportunities.

**Wilderness Lakes RV Resort** is a flat, 80-acre RV Resort in California with fishing canals that weave throughout the park. As a centrally-located RV camp, it is close to shopping, hospitals and freeways in California's Los Angeles region. The surrounding area has been changing quite dramatically with housing projects on two sides and dairy farms on the other. The temperatures are mild in the winter and warm to hot in the summer, making Wilderness Lakes a perfect RV campground no matter what time of year. At **Wilderness Lakes RV Resort** , our 523 sites include RV sites, rental cottages and cabins. The general store is open five days a week for all of your convenience needs. Plus, our on-site package delivery lockers allow guest to vacation with the assurance of receiving packages and deliveries in safety and ease. Locally, there are numerous golf courses within a 15-mile radius of Wilderness Lakes with one only two miles from the campground. Old Town Temecula is only 17 miles to the south of our RV campground and offers great dining and shopping in true California style. The Pechanga Resort and Casino is about 20 miles south of the resort and is the largest gambling casino in the state. It has weekend entertainment, seven restaurants and a non-smoking section for gambling. Diamond Valley Lakes is just 5 miles to the east of the resort and has boat rentals and fishing. Most of the major theme parks, such as Disneyland, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Wild Animal Park are all about 1 hours away. Sweet Oaks Winery Campgrounds amass nearly 25+ acres of our working equestrian ranch located in the heart of the Temecula Valley Equestrian and Wine Valley, with breath-taking mountainous views and rolling vineyards. Take in the beauty of the hot-air balloons taking flight in the mornings, sip on delicious Sweet Oaks Wine in the afternoon, take a hike or ride a mountain bike on our trails and then enjoy the sunset on a 90 minute guided horseback ride!

No Hookups although we do have a water hose which can be used if necessary. Luxury outdoor restrooms (no showers).

Sweet Oaks Winery - Temporarily Closed

These five remote camping sites offer locations for tent and car camping. There are some mature shade trees near the sites, but other than a metal fire ring for campfires, these sites do NOT contain the amenities found at developed campgrounds. There is no water, no picnic tables, no restrooms nearby, and no trash containers. Please pack it in - pack it out! All sites are first-come, first-served. 

 Campfire permits are required for any type of fire use - campfires, charcoal BBQ's, or stoves. Campfires may not be allowed certain times of the year. Contact the Mill Creek Ranger Station for current fire restriction information and road conditions. (909) 382-2882 (closed Tues/Wed)



Thomas Mountain Campsites 

MT SOMEWHERE, a 10 acre private mountain retreat is nestled high above the Temecula Valley, yet only 3 miles to Old Town and Pechanga Casino.

We offer a variety of ways for you to enjoy your stay, from private rooms in the main.house to hike in only dispersed camping. We welcome you to come to the country and experience the untamed natural beauty and rustic vibe of this hidden rural property. Hear the roosters in the morning, watch the hummingbirds on the deck at the main.house or relax with a cup of coffee under the giant birds of paradise. Or you can choose to scale the 60 foot \*movie rock\* to take in the 360 views; from Pala Valley, to Oceanside and Corona to San Diego, there is no better place to watch the Sunset (or sunrise). You are surrounded by 300 year old oak trees and granite boulders which makes you feel worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet a $10 UBER puts you right in the middle of Old Town.

Even though you are only paying to stay in one site, we provide full access to the rest of the property, outdoor areas and the horse flat. Have a drink with friends, sit around the fire (tbd fire ban) or grab a bite to eat as travelers swap stories and tips over smores and a shot of jager.

∴**Primitive Freedom** is a private boondocking site [0.2 Acres and 9' entrance clearance ] set in the tranquil enclave of San Jacinto Cove, nicknamed Windy Point. Framed by the majestic north face of San Jacinto Mountain and other nearby peaks, this site is designed for nature and adventure aficionados.

While the site lacks amenities such as electricity, water, or trash service, Windy Cove Market—a small convenience store and gas station—is within the community. For more extensive RV facilities, Morongo Casino [Cabazon - 13 mi.], Pilot [Palm Springs - 8 mi.], and Flying J [Thousand Palms - 15 mi.] are accessible.

Though isolated, Palm Springs' lively scene is within reach, offering a perfect blend of solitude and activity. Nearby attractions include the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Palm Springs Art Museum, and Acrisure Arena, while a variety of trails, canyons, and National parks are just short drives away.

The site's terrain comprises rocky desert sand and is securely fenced for privacy. While the site offers a serene natural setting, it's worth noting that the area can experience extraordinary winds at times, adding an element of raw nature to your outdoor experience. When you think Napa Valley, you think of wine, not camping. But you can plan a wine vacation from behind the flap of your tent. Set up in one of the valley’s campgrounds then visit the many casual tasting rooms that won't mind dirt under your fingernails.  When you tire of drinking wine, hike Mt. St Helena, a dormant volcano. Or walk through the Petrified Forest, a forest that was turned to stone by the last eruption of the volcano. Or visit California’s Old Faithful, a nearby geyser.


Once you have found camping in California’s Half Dome in Yosemite Valley, center yourself in Tuolumne Meadows, a more remote section of the park with its own collection of charming granite domes. Here's a secret: Instead of joining the crowds of day hikers on the meadow's most popular trails, follow the backpackers north on the famed John Muir Trail. The trail meanders through meadows, along a river below alpine peaks. And best of all, the first 8 miles of this trail out of Tuolumne are flat. Hike until you find a spot to watch the marmots, then return to your campsite. For more, backpack another 23 miles to Reds Meadow where you can catch a shuttle back up to Tuolumne.

Climb 700 feet up a dirt road in only 1.5 miles to a secluded Mountainous camping with a view of the Regenerative Organic Avocado and Citrus grove and views of the city lights at night. The farm has over 700 avocados trees with 9 varieties of avocados and 20 various citrus and nut trees. We have chickens, ducks, and Guinea Fowl and plenty of wildlife including: hawks, Owls, bunnies and more which all contribute to Regenerative Organic and offer viewing pleasure. The local area provides hiking, wildlife mountain biking, lakes and 35 minutes to the nearest wine tasting in Temecula. We are an hour from the beach and roughly an hour and half to Skiing and Snowboarding at Mt. High. The property sits roughly 2000 ft above sea level and 800 ft above the city below. The 21 acre property provides amazing views as well as biking and hiking along the local fire roads and farm roads. Minutes away from Santa Rosa Plateau for hiking. You are also a 20-30 minute drive to explore the amenities of the local cities, wine country and 45 minutes to the beach.. We offer Camping supplies such as tents or chairs if needed for a small rental fee as well as the ability to purchase fresh avocados, citrus or Farm fresh eggs from the grove. The Green Ravine in De Luz

The reimagined Native Falls Campground (formerly Indian Oaks) is conveniently located only minutes from Temecula Valley wine country, yet offers a totally unique lodging experience unlike anything in the area. The campground includes a lake with waterfall and fishing, beach area, pickleball court, shuffle board, fire pits, picnic tables, hiking trails, and more!

Please excuse our dust as the revamp is an ongoing project. There are currently 13 various cabins available, along with \~30 RV spaces with 30 and 50 amp service.

Campers will have their own area with full hook ups. A beautiful view of surrounding mountains including San Gorgonio, Idylwild, and Cahuilla mountain. To the west is the Diamond Valley Lake. Beautiful place to enjoy for a getaway. Full playground for the kids. Wildlife galore. Conveniently located off of Batz rd. on the southern edge of Hemet. Easy access from the freeways and Domenigoni Parkway. Within an hour drive you have your choice of the Mountains, desert, and the beach. Enjoy some fishing for world record size bass at Diamond Valley Lake. Our camp is located just outside of Temecula wine country. Many wineries to spend the day exploring. Take a walk on our property and enjoy the horses and goats.
