Worth it for Long Term Stays

Sam’s Family Spa offers a mixed experience with steep daily rates, decent weekly rates, and an unbeatable deal for monthly stays. The mineral-fed hot springs and heated pool area are highlights, though access requires wristbands and a bathroom code. Mail delivery is convenient, but the lack of security at the campground entrance feels like a gap. The west side of the park boasts stunning views, and the grounds feature a variety of interesting desert plants. However, the overall experience didn’t quite match the polished image portrayed on the website. Still, its proximity to Palm Springs and relaxing hot springs make it a worthwhile option for longer stays

Even better than expected!

We loved it here! The spa is great, the RV spots have electrical and water hookups + dump. Wifi is actually pretty good! Very friendly staff, clean toilets/spa/pools. We were there in a weekend late march and the spa/pools were not crowded in any time of the day. All in all a great place.

Under some construction

The spa area is great. The campground is a little torn up right now with fixes to water main, upgrades to infrastructure, etc. Quiet, relaxing. Great views of snow capped San Gorgonio and Idlewild mountains.

Nice pools!

One more star if they were open past 6pm! You go thru the office to get to pools and sauna, picnic area, bird enclosures. Office closes, no access. It's a shame... they need more help!

Four Hot Pools!

Monthly stays are very economical ($580/$605+electricity) which includes daily (9am-9pm) access to the four hot pools at different temperatures, the swimming pool, gym, dry sauna, wet sauna, etc. (Pre-Covid they had water aerobics class and yoga, but that’s been discontinued; I hope they bring these back someday.) The hot pools are not chlorinated: water flows through them and they are drained nightly. Verizon access is excellent; T-mobile not so much (1-2 dots).

Sam’s is one of the oldest Dillon Road RV Parks at the far end just as the road turns. It’s 10-15 minutes to Desert Hot Springs, 20 minutes to Palm Springs, 20-30 minutes to Cathedral City, Palm Desert and Indio.

Best Hot springs

We loved the spacious sites. With snow in the surrounding mountains. It seems to be surrounded by mountains in the winter months.

Great Mineral Spas!

Loved our visit here! We found that the park is under new ownership as of the summer of 2020. They are working on improving and updating the park facilities. They also offer discounts now. Good Sams, The Dyrt and Military. Weekly rates includes one night free (pay for 6 nights, the 7th is free). Monthly rate is an even better saving. All RV reservations include the use of the pool courtyard so that is an additional discount. You do not have to pay day use fees, access to the pools is part of the posted camping rate. Reservations are required now. Thanks to the front desk for providing the info on the rates.

Love the palms, pools and black swan! Nothing like having a warm soak before bed. And a soft-serve ice cream to cool off with (they have a soft-serve ice cream right in the office)! Recommend if you have a large, large rig to request a large site in the 'over-the-bridge' area. We had a nice experience with everyone there.

In The Middle Of The Desert With Hot Spring Pools

I visited Sam's Family Hot Springs Park in early April and I am eager to go back again. I was told on the phone that the RV park is never full, which makes checking in easy. All I had to do was show up find a good spot then register. I have only ever stayed in the RV park, not the hotel, but this place is exactly what a desert oasis should be like. As the name indicates, this is a"family" spa, filled with very active kids and their parents. This is not the place for a romantic getaway. However I personally really enjoyed my stay. The

Good: Four mineral water small pools set to different temperatures. The hottest is 104 degrees. These pools are powered by natural hot springs no added chemicals! There are also a dry sauna and a tiny steam sauna. There is a larger family pool filled with city water that has reclining beds and chairs and you can always find shaded areas. The park has its own lake with an abundance of wildlife. There are black swan and cranes, as well as plenty of ducks, fish, and turtles in the water in a beautiful setting. I found the bathroom to be clean, with keypad activated toilets and showers that are open 24 hours.

The sites have full hook-ups for water, electricity, and sewerage. There is a limit on only one sleeping unit per site. It had 110V and the 30AMP and 50AMP. The RV park check-out is pretty flexible and you can use the facilities all day on your check-out day. There is a VONS five miles away so it is best to load up there before you check-in. Alternatively, there are several dining options around in a few miles distance, a Thai place, some Mexican restaurants, and a Burger place that caters for breakfast through to dinner. If you plan to stay longer, you can visit Joshua Tree, Palm Springs, or even a casino. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and altogether it was a nice experience that I am more than happy to recommend.

The Bad: There is not much to do in the area. You will need to drive for everything. Joshua Tree is about an hour's drive away. It's a very family-friendly place. If you come on holidays or weekends it is packed and full of kids. They are basically taking over the large pool and screaming, jumping all day. I guess if you have young kids this is a place to bring them, but if you want peace and quiet, come during off-seasons and during school days.

The Ugly: What I didn't like that the nightly cost for an RV site is expensive and they offer no discounts. Nothing. No Good Sam, no Passport, no deals nothing. It's not really worth it for me to spend days here when the Golden Village Palms with more amenities, cleaner, and with less wind- offers awesome deals all the time. What I don't understand, the park is basically empty during off-seasons but still no discounts.

If they would offer weekly deals I would most definitely spend more time here. Internet: There is a Verizon tower in the park so Verizon is Awesome. I also had a good Sprint. AT&T is weak.

Will I Be Back? I will but only for a night here and there when I am in the area.
