Perfect for our needs!

We were just traveling through since part of 1 is closed. Found this spot for $51 and it was great. It is hilly, which made it cool to walk around for views. The water is not potable, but bathrooms were very clean and the staff were so kind. There was not a race, but there were some cars running the track the next morning. Which was pretty cool!

Great place to watch races.

Many years ago, while stationed at DLI, I camped here. Lot 114, right about the raceway, which I thought was a great site(tenting area). If you ever get the chance, go stay.

Amazing staff

Jim on staff helped us out in the pouring rain when our car battery died. The campsite wasn't great in the constant rain and got quite muddy, but otherwise was great.

Perfect basecamp for exploring the Monterey Bay

I expected lined off spots on a blacktop parking lot…this was much nicer. Great views of lush green hills, and spaces generously sized. Friendly staff and an easy drive into Monterey.

Water is non-potable, but that wasn’t a problem for us.

Surprisingly private and scenic

As we were driving in we were baffled to be driving through a racetrack. As we rose above the track we found ourselves in a more remote and scenic space, one of the loveliest we’ve stayed in. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Showers, dumping, and WiFi were free

Laguna Seca

This is a beautifully maintained camping area. The campsites are arranged on the hills surrounding the Laguna Seca Racetrack. This enormous facility boasts of 800 campsites!! Checking in was easy, even though I arrived on a lark! The camp host was very helpful and friendly and full of interesting facts of the area. I would definitely recommend visiting here, even on off season when you can really enjoy how ginormous a facility it is. The steep hill up to the kiosk was a bit intimidating, but my 30’ Thor powered up it like a champ!

Site#99 is an easy pull through that has a spectacular up front and close vista of the speedway.

racetrack!

we stayed here for two days while camping in california- it was sweet! we had the whole tent/dry camping campground to ourselves this time of year.

i couldn't find anything about rates online, so if you are trying to figure that out--- it's not the cheapest. dry camping ranges from 40-50$ and full hookup from 50$-60$, though i do think they have discounts for off season (november-....march? not sure.) waking up and watching the open track was super fun. lots of cool trails and viewpoints.

> good thing to mention, we showered on the third morning. my (male) partners shower was hot, and my (female) shower was so freezing. so maybe showers in the male bathroom, although way grosser, are the move!

Very unique campground

I’m sure this space is different when there is a race going on. Without a race, it’s a very quiet campground that’s actually on the raceway. It’s very cool. Nothing is open, but it’s really beautiful, the bathrooms are clean, and people are friendly.

Laguna Seca Nights

This is a nice campground nestled in the hills between Monterey and Salinas along Hwy 68. It's drier and hotter than Monterey, but also more remote and quieter at night. During the day, there's lots of vehicle noise from the racetrack, as expected. There are 30 amp sites but all of the available water is non- potable due to the level of arsenic. There are hot showers, picnic benches at each site and some sites are pull-through. There is a guard at the gate during the day and security on- site at night.

Straight out of a video game

This is a world-class racetrack with a barebones campground attached. I was lucky enough to arrive while a Porsche club was lapping the track. I got to watch the cars coming down the "corkscrew" turn. It was just like Forza, but real. Phenomenal.

The campsites are on the expensive side, and you don't get much. There is barely any tree cover or privacy. The ground is dry, dusty, and hard packed. Difficult to drive tent stakes in some spots. The only bathrooms available are porta potties (the one I used was clean), and the water provided at spigots is non-potable (arsenic contaminated). So make sure to bring plenty of drinking water.

Also note that campsites are assigned by the attendent in a systematic way, so you will not be able to choose your site and you will probably have neighbors.

Way better than expected! Nice views!

We booked a few nights here just as a filler while we were in town. We got here and the gate staff was friendly. We got to our spot. Which had beautiful views, and got our Camper situated. The spots could be a bit updated in my opinion. The gravel was coming apart and the table and fir ring could use a bit of cleaning. When we got here there were cars racing around the track. Very interesting experience! It's a little loud during the day but they stop racing around 6pm and the evenings here are quiet and tranquil! The Park is well kept and the volunteers are helpful. The bathrooms were a bit dirty and out dated and unfortunately had the timed push buttons in the showers... The Park was nice to walk around, we took our dogs for a walk around the track as well. Overall, it was a very pleasant place to stay and we would stay again for sure. P.s. dogs are an additional 4 dollars per dog per night unfortunately!! But the campground has very reasonable rates!

Up, up, up

For reasons I can't fully explain, Laguna Seca is my favorite campground ever. It's a deep dive into Oak Chaparral and . . . race cars. Expect high winds, revving motors, and ticks. There is no drinking water up there at the moment but there are showers and restrooms. If you are riding your bike, you are not going to like this hill.

Pistol shooting during the day, fireworks at night & race car driving (road course) all day.

No potable water, only electricity & dump. Site dirty, so we cleaned it. Pretty mountain scenery. Great mountain biking & hiking. 20-30 minute access to Monterey Peninsula.

If you’re not sure, ask!

After traveling up the central coast, I was looking for a campground for the night. All the ones I wanted were full. Found this place but literature I read said that they will take first come first served up to until 6pm. Decided to drive by and see about 7pm. No real directions at the entrance but found the campground.

Pulled up and asked for a site, low and behold, they take walk ups 24/7. This worked out great! Got settled in and enjoyed the smoke filtered sunset with some friendly people.

Bathroom was clean, shower was ok. NO POTABLE WATER!!! View was nice. Would go again

Unique, no-frills campground close to Monterey

I had my doubts trying this campground out.  Right next to a race track? No potable water?  But it turns out my doubts were unfounded.  My daughter and I had a great time here!  A short list of things we liked and things we didn't.

Pros:

- Beautiful views!  Not every site has them, but most do.  Either of the race track or the valleys and hills on the other side.

- Close to Monterey.  Only a 20 min drive to Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, and the Aquarium.  Can't beat it for the price.

- Close to the hiking trails in the Laguna Seca Rec Area.

- Nice bathrooms and showers.

- A pretty decent playground.  My daughter spent most of her time here.

Cons:

- No potable water.  They mention this several times on their website but still people miss it.  Bring your own water.

- The sites are pretty small and close together.  This wasn't a problem for us, as our neighbors were kind and respectful.  But still, only a few feet away.

- You can't reserve a site; you can only make requests.  There are definitely sites that are better than others.  If you don't know, ask the host on the phone for a recommendation.

- Ok, I knew it was a racetrack when I made the reservation, but hours of loud cars kinda wears on you after a while.  They ran from 9-4 both days we were there.

- The bugs that crawled out from under my tent when putting things away gave me the creeps.

- 16% grade on the way up.  Trailers and RVs, its doable but be aware!

Overall, I recommend!

Sweet escape

Driving up to the main entrance  i already knew this place was going to be awesome. The sites are placed near /around a racetrack. The view from almost every site is like a dream, you have panoramic views  of hills and mountains to one side and a huge racetrack with sexy cars on the other side.  Each site has a fire pit with grill and a bench. There are portable bathrooms near the sites and  clean indoor restroom and showers. Hiking trails and free seats to the races (which started after 10am)  were a plus while staying at this spot. We stayed here as a pit stop to make our way into big sur which was less than an hour drive.

Amazing Views

Only about 20 min outside of Monterey, this was a great spot we ended up staying at for almost a week. Full or partial hookups are available. Many of the sites are at the top of the hill with some beautiful views around. We weren't there during an event weekend so it was pretty quiet.
