There is so many spots back here! We stayed a bit closer to 395 and it was easy to navigate with a 26’ RV. We had initially looked for a spot on the Mammoth side of the highway but found this dirt roads more level and open for the RV. Lovely minus some sort of small critter kept waking me up in the night.

A long, 40-mile dirt road drive to get up here, but the road is decent gravel and I was able to drive it in 2WD the entire way. At the top, there’s a bathroom, several short hiking trails, fire pits, and a nice campground area with plenty of parking tucked under the pine trees. Picnic benches are available too.
It can get windy, but the trees provided good protection. We slept great with the wind creating a nice natural white noise. A great spot to get away and enjoy the quiet.

Quiet & Friendly
Friendly staff and a camp host selling firewood. Clean flush toilets and hot showers for 50 cents. A little difficult to find a level spot for a van in the dry camping area, and most spots were right on the side of the road. It would be more enjoyable if one could pull off into the dirt area for level spots out of the main drag.

This is an amazing spot! Close to the water, estuary, boardwalk, museum, food and town!!! The campground itself is obviously very old but they’ve done a great job with up keep. The shower was hot with good enough pressure. The camping spots are a little oddly configured, some are really cramped because of the picnic table and fire ring locations or feel invasive to other folks camps for the same reason.

Sacramento River RV Park
Cute RV park, clean showers, restrooms, and laundry area. The pool looks nice, but it is closed for the season right now. There’s a recreation area with a workout room. There’s some traffic noise from the highway, but it’s not too bad. Staff are very friendly. The campground is clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again.
