Awesome camping

It's a very nice place. It's small and have 4 showers and about 6 flushable toilets. To shower It's by coins and each coin is 2mins. I was there labor day weekend and was full and windy but great and quiet no issues at all.

Good T-Mobile Signal

Small campground, great for stargazing. As of 08/23/21, there are no potable water available. There are vault toilets available on site that's pretty descent w/ toilet paper provided.

The deduction is due to SO MANY FLIES! I have bug screens installed in the van and it could literally break…

Too small

The campsites are too close together. Beach access is across the hwy and not the safest to get too.

Nice place if you want quiet time

Every time I have gone I was there by myself or with friends. You can hunt fish hike horse back riding and wake up to the sound of birds. I have seen bears and mountain lions so be prepared for that. Never been attacked by them. Bring your own water.

Cheap and convient

Place is under change of ownership and under some minor construction. But for the price and location to food and interstate, a good deal.

Awesome camp near beach

Neat and clean campsite. They have pay showers which are decent. Less than 1/2 mile walk to the beach. Bike or hiking trails.

Cozy and close to beach

It was pretty busy and bustling when we stayed, but definitely a cozy spot. Great hikes nearby and the beach is just a short walk away! We saw lots of cute animals during our stay. The campsite pass also gets you free parking at pretty much any beach along the PCH.

  • Sycamore Cove Beach, right across from the campground
  • Point Mugu hike

Beautiful views, windy af

I drive up on Old Sierra Madre Road from hwy 166, and it took about an hour. The road gets increasingly rocky/washed out, with the top of the ridge the roughest going but I made it fine in a high clearance 2wd. Went on a Saturday night in the spring, and it was incredibly windy all day/night.…

Out in the middle of nowhere

Took a drive out there last week(Jan 24th) on a hunt to find new campsites and was a little disappointed when we drove up. Each site was pretty close to one another so not much privacy and the sites were a little small for my liking. KCL would be perfect for people who are going to be exploring all…

Infested with flies

Went in late October and the campground was absolutely infested with flies. Us and the three other campers that showed up around the same time ended up leaving and going to Selby up the road because the flies were so out of control. Not sure if this is a seasonal issue because there isn’t any…

Nice and quiet

Great spot to relax. There are some nice hiking options, as well.

Camping on Mount Pinos

It’s been awhile since I camped on Mt. Pinos but it was a very memorable experience. I went with a group to bird watch and hike .. gorgeous meadows and views, nice temps in summer, and astronomy groups set up in the peak that welcome you to look at Saturn. A great place to walk, mountain bike, camp…

Shady campground

We did not know it was hunting season... so it was surprising to see so many hunters gathered up at selby campground. We decided to stay at klc instead which was much more peaceful. Temperatures were well in the high 90s so to see some nice trees that provided shade at this site was the best. It…
