Galleta Meadows sits on the southern edge of Borrego Springs, within Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, where dispersed sites are spaced several hundred feet apart along a single access road. No permit is required, and stays of up to 30 days are allowed at no cost. Sites are not secluded, open to surrounding mountain views and wide sky. Large rigs, including 33-foot fifth wheels, have accessed the road without reported difficulty. Borrego Springs is a designated dark sky community, which reduces light interference for nighttime viewing. Iron sculptures are scattered throughout the area. Campers interested in camping near Anza-Borrego Desert State Park will find this a low-barrier entry point worth considering.
