Too windy for a tent!

We’ve got a 9 person tent and it was impossible to set up at Jumbo Rocks in July. Beautiful campground!!

One of the most unique sites

We camped here middle of august and it was empty, mostly because it’s unbearable during the day with 100+ degrees during the day. We only stayed from dusk til the early morning but it was so beautiful! Just be sure to bring enough water with you cause there’s no spigots.

Nestled into rocks, surrounded by Joshua trees

We got lucky enough to find a FCFS spot that was away from other groups and in between some big rocks. Great spot with nice amenities

Will stay again

Loved the ease of after hours entry and the live music we could listen to at our camp site. Quick drive to Joshua tree park entry and town.

Good campground!

A lot of the sites were very private, and you can sometimes get a shady spot. I did have a scorpion burrow under the tarp I had under my tent during the night, so just be careful when putting everything away!

Good for beginning boondocking

Pure Review:

Stayed here on the 29th of May 2021. Was a little warm during the day but hella cool at night. The campground is kinda remote, way better than "Hole in The Wall." You can get there in a 2wd car during dry conditions. Nice sites with a table and fire pit. Room for trailer or tent…

Beautiful rock formations including Arch Rock

We camped here in February for two nights and it was gorgeous. The stars illuminated the sky every night until the moon rose up from behind the rock formations. We loved that our site was less than 0.5 miles to Arch Rock.

Beautiful and Serene

We stayed here in mid-March. It was beautiful. Good hiking nearby, great star gazing and over all very peaceful and relaxing. It was cold in March at night so be prepared. Zero cell service so you are certainly unplugged!! Don’t miss other hikes near this camp spot, Kelso Depot is great along with…

Awesome, private, great stars and great views!

This was was one of the favorite spots I stayed at during a cross-country road trip from California to Florida in February 2021. It's quite a long drive once you get into Mojave to reach this site, and it's a bit of a bumpy drive. I was in a two-wheel drive van and it was totally fine, but…

Stinky yet secluded

I loved Group Site#7. I stayed for two nights in mid-April and enjoyed it. It was secluded enough that I felt comfortable changing our clothes out in the open. A variety of critters casually passed through our campsite, like rabbits, a garter snake, chipmunks, a family of quails, and a hummingbird…

  • Group Site #7: Creosote bushes here and there paired with giant sandstones.
  • Group Site #7: Tables with a fire pit and grill.
  • Group Site #7: Facing the back of the campsite.

Sites are close together but worth it to be so close to the rocks. Very clean vault toilet. Picnic table, fire ring, and grate.

Sites are close together

Jumbo Rocks gives great convenience to trails like Skull Rock, but the sites are pretty close together, especially if you are car camping. I snagged a 1st come 1st serve spot at Hidden Valley the night before and preferred that.

Sleeping amongst the giants

This has been our favorite Joshua Tree campground so far. If you come in from the west side of the park you get to drive through most of the park before arriving to camp. You know when you are coming up to it when you see the giant boulders on the horizon. The campground definitely live up to it’s…
