2. Burlington Campground
This campground is situated alongside some of California’s most famous residents: colossal redwood trees. Located less than 50 miles southeast of Eureka, on the aptly-named Avenue of the Giants, this campground is open year round and is within walking distance of the Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center.

4. Elk Country RV Resort and Campground
This vast campground is less than 40 minutes north of Eureka by car, just off of the Redwood Highway. A number of local Elk regularly graze and mull around this rolling, coastal landscape. There’s something especially relaxing about watching them as they move lazily through the wildflower meadows and past quaint country barns.

Van Duzen County Park Campground, also known as Swimmer’s Delight Campground, is situated just over 30 miles southeast of Eureka. This property lies on the banks of the Van Duzen River, attracting anglers, watersports enthusiasts, and swimmers alike.
The campsites at Van Duzen County Park Campground are well-shaded and each comes equipped with a fire grill and a picnic table for meals. This privately-owned RV campground is located just over 50 miles southeast of Eureka. But it’s a straightforward route that should take less than an hour to get to, by car or van.

7. Big Lagoon County Park Campground

This beachside campground is seven miles north of Trinidad, which makes it about a 30-minute drive north of Eureka. Kids and adults alike love that it offers ramp access to the lagoon. You can go paddleboarding and kayaking across this large expanse of water.
The sites are well spaced out, allowing you to enjoy the freshwater breeze in private. Additionally, there are coin-operated showers and well-maintained restrooms for guests to use.
