Gem

My friend recommended New River Junction to me and I'm glad that I listened to him. The campground is not far from Virginia Tech and so there were several other campers staying a few nights with plans to go to the football game. The RV sites are along the river and two sites share an electical box…

Nice sites

Stayed here on a whim after hiking up to McAfee Knob. Showed up right at 10pm and luckily found an empty spot. Got a fire going and made some dinner. Not the best privacy but at night there were no issues. Nice level gravel pads that we just pitches a mosquito pop up and slept on the ground.

Fun Hike, easy parking

This was a fine place to park overnight. The trailhead connects to the Appalachian Trail, so there were several other cars parked overnight as well. It is a gravel lot, pretty level. There is a little road noise until about 1030 PM. Pretty little creek runs by the gravel lot, and there are also…

Nice spot but it’s a party zone

Lake Moomaw is nice though it has the distinctive bathtub ring of a reservoir. We had a “premium” campsite in loop 1 that was right off the water, which was very nice. The bathrooms in the main loop with showers were nice and clean, the pit toilet on the premium sites had a bad fly problem.

The…

Friendly place

Camped out for one night, great place. Owners are real friendly, they have a store as well. The trains though! My dog did not appreciate them, but overall nice place.

100% worth the trek

Beautiful quiet lake, not heavily trafficked. Campsite is only accessible via water, so we packed our gear up on paddle boards to get there. It’s a private little cove, sites are first come first serve, we had it to ourselves the whole night and next day. East water access, tables, fire pit,…

Quiet beautiful piece of nature

We camped here with our dogs for 3 nights. The campground is about 2 miles from the Babcock State Park visitor center and trails. When you enter the campground, there's a little check in station. They have maps and sell ice. There is a small loop with electrical sites, but it's absolutely not…

Beautiful scenery

Lovely campground. Not too noisy and gorgeous nature. Campsite 2 is across the path from the check in point and you are quite on display but on the other hand you have WiFi signal and are close to water and perfect distance from the campground.

Firewood and ice is available for purchase and there…

Great for a few nights

This place is really nice. Super clean bathrooms and flat platforms for tent camping. It’s a little pricey in my opinion but it’s easy to get to and close to lots of climbing.

Great primitive camping, with bathroom facilities

Very inexpensive (15 bucks for one night). Super close to new river gorge. Nice bathroom facilities, although I did not use the shower it looked decent enough. Would stay here again!

Fun and tasty!

Arrowhead bike farm is a great place to camp. It’s not super private so if that’s what your looking for then definitely don’t come here. But it is a great place. They have a big field for you to set up tents on along with RV camping areas and a place with individual sites in the back. It’s also a…

Unique Camping experience

We were lucky to get campsite 23, which had a tent platform high up on a boulder. The campsite was fairly quiet and cozy!

Only downsides were communal cammpfire (but we made friends anyways!) and coin operated showers for hot water.

Perfect lake camping

Our spot was right there on the water, there are bathrooms at the top of the hill. Campsites are drive up and can fit 2 vehicles. The spot also has a fire ring and picnic tables.

I didn’t have cell service and you are pretty close to a lot of other people and RVs, but still a great spot.

Camping on the Greenbrier River

The Greenbrier River RV Park campground was fine. It was right on the Greenbrier River and you could do float, kayak and canoe trips from the campground. There were full hook-up sites and tent sites (right on the river). The sites were pretty big and most were shaded. It was close (less than 15…
