Camp Creek State Park sits just two miles off I-77 at Exit 20, making this West Virginia state park campground one of the more accessible options for travelers moving along the corridor. The modern campground provides a mix of site types: nine full hookup sites with water and electric, nine electric-only sites, and eight water and electric sites, with paved pads and flat ground throughout. A separate primitive area, Blue Jay Campground, runs along a creek with 12 sites and pit toilets, positioned on the road toward one of the park's two waterfalls.
Water is a consistent theme across visitor accounts. Sites 8 through 10 and 13 through 18 sit directly beside a creek, and the walk down to the water from the Blue Jay sites is described as short and easy. Both Campbell Falls and Mash Fork Creek Falls are accessible on foot or by bike, though campers should note the rocks at both falls carry brown algae and are extremely slick regardless of footwear. Trails and gravel roads fan out across the park, including a climb to Neely Knob that mountain bikers have found to be a serious workout.
Firewood sells at the campground office, and stocking up early is worth the effort since the nearest stores are a significant drive away. The campground has a bathhouse with showers, fire pits at each site, and a dump station on the road out. A military discount is available. Campers interested in campgrounds around Camp Creek State Park will find a few options in the surrounding area, including Sunny Glen RV Park just to the north. This campground works well for RV travelers wanting hookups with quick highway access, as well as tent campers who want creek-side sites and short trails to waterfalls.
