Remeber to check in at Days Inn

Our stay was for one night on a travel day to another location. Campground is clean and well-maintained. My wife read a review that mentioned check-in is in the Days Inn signage is small and if we didn’t know we needed to check-in at the hotel we would have missed it. This campground is labeled as a journey but with the addition of amenities at the Days Inn this is a great place for a couple of days. Very dog friendly.

Besides the price, this place was great

Everything the other comments say about the price is true, but that aside this KOA is great. It is set back behind the hotel and far from the interstate. Our site was very large. The entire place was full of trees! So different from other KOAs!

The showers each had their own private door, and there was a hotel free ice machine at the bathrooms! It was super quiet during the week.

Sitein the same area as the cabin?

Great resort!

I gave this a three star and they removed my review.

So even though I went to super detailed information in my last review I'm just going to say do not believe the five star that I put on this because this is indeed a three star resort it is a journey not a holiday and it is overpriced he would be better to stay at a budget hotel that I will not name the name because maybe that's why they deleted this review

Ok for a KOA

We prefer state parks but had to stay here at a KOA because of availability (Labor Day Weekend). My biggest complaint with KOAs is the tightness of the sites - this one was not bad. They had concert pads for the picnic tables (loved that). But we were in the first loop and we were far from the shower house - only one for the whole campground. Now we did have full hookup - but there are 6 of us that need showers after a day of hiking.
We went to New River Gorge and hiked all day. The Rim and the Bridge were only 1 hour away. One of the hiked we did was 1.5 hours away - but we enjoyed it. Go see the Flatwoods monster and the Dam. Nice small town in beautiful West Virginia.

Away but close

This site is tied to the hotel and you must park at hotel prior to entry. There are pull-in sites with full site hook ups at location. The views once hooked up are gorgeous but this is a tight fit especially for those with slides.

Two things I loved:

  1. Very clean well maintained site with beautiful views

  2. Nice scenic place to walk

One thing I didn’t like:

  1. You have to go in the hotel to get in? So parking could be challenging on a busy day to get in.

Quiet mountainside camping

Great little campground in the middle of WV. Just off Highway 79 but far enough away you feel like you are in the wilderness. The campground has 4 distinct areas for rigs which keeps it from feeling it is a RV parking lot. Most sites are pull through with full hook ups. You check in at the hotel and proceed up the hills to your site. Because it is associated with the hotel, most hotel amenities are available for campers. Very quiet and peaceful site. The section for sites 1-10 is the shadiest section. You are minutes drive to lake Sutton. Easy site has a table, a grill and a fire ring. I enjoyed my stay.

Easy to find

Clean grounds and easy to find from the interstate. Small park and outdoor pool. The laundry rooms and washhouse were extremely warm but otherwise okay. Free ice machine.

Good Verizon signal but WIFI at grounds is pretty much not existent. Pull through sites with a cement slab, picnic table, and a small grill.

Clean and quiet

This campground was perfect. It’s up on a hill and the sites are spaced out pretty well. It’s behind a hotel. Our site had room for our 26’ hybrid with 3 beds, plus two cars, chairs, and our two dog tie outs. I loved that it was near the main highway but up on a hill so you didn’t hear the traffic. The pool is part of the hotel property and the campground is allowed to use it anytime it’s open. There is a grocery store and a Walmart within a mile. There is also a small dog park on site. Sutton lake was about ten minutes away. I definitely recommend this campground.

Parking Lot

This "campground" has all the atmosphere of a Walmart parking lot, except that you have to pay $50 (not a typo) for the privilege.  It is right next to the hotel (Holiday Inn or something?), where you have to go to check in and out, and where there's a restaurant if you don't feel like cooking.

I've given it two stars instead of one because it is near the highway.

Quiet, Enjoyable

We visited this park for the 4th of July, which made it very busy, but it was still very quiet. Be ready to tow up steep hills throughout this park. You enter the park through a Chevrolet dealership lot and then check in at the Days Inn Hotel. We had never been to an RV Park run by a hotel before but there were some nice features to this as well- discussed later.

Once you get checked in you head to your spot. Make sure you run the water lines to clear them out before hooking up. The water quality is very poor. We filled up a jug of water for travel day without the filters- when leaving and it was completely contaminated. We have a 4 filter system and this was after the 4 filters - they had been changed at the previous park about 10 days prior too.

The grounds are clean and the view is excellent. The staff was very responsive. One of the nights our neighbor decided to play super loud music between our rigs, loud like you can’t hear your tv on max, at 11pm. The staff was very responsive in asking them to turn it down or off so we could sleep.

All in all this was a nice park. They had decent cellular for AT&T and TMobile/US Cellular. The campground also has WiFi for a fee. They pick up your trash several times a day most days. You leave it on the hook at your site. The sites were decent spacing and plenty long enough. Our site was flat but pretty unlevel, wasn’t a huge concern. They had a nice play ground for kids and a large amphitheater. We didn’t see any KOA employees while we were there but this could have been because of COVID19. I didn’t see a pool or bathrooms/showers for guests.

Gorgeous Place

Love this KOA! Great grounds, lots of shade down in a valley. Great cell phone service for Verizon. Wide RV spots. Full hookup with e/w/s. Nice pool area. Pool area is at the hotel. Hotel/KOA same owner. FREE ICE at the arena area.

They do have shower house and laundry facilities in the arena building. They have a nice play ground for kids and a kamp k-9 for the dogs.

Lots of pull through sites for big rigs.

Staff was nice. Ran into the cleaning lady at the bathroom.

Kids loves the pool. It was nice to during the hottest week of the year so far!

Plenty of sites

This is a big campground, but they still get you in there pretty close. You have to go into the hotel to check in. We only stayed over night, but they seemed to have several activities for the family.
