Beach Area

I haven’t camped here yet but I love their beach area. It’s small and easy to keep track of small children. The scenery is beautiful as well

Free!

Loud road noise, but for free electric hookup, it’s worth it.

Secluded, woodsy

This is my fiance and I's favorite spot. The tent area I stay in Is very spacious and often you cant see any neighbors unless traveling to the shower house, with regular toilets electric and more. If you need amenities like a shower but like a private, primitive, woodsy feel this is the place. …

Great overnight or weekend spot

We stayed here for a weekend as a parking spot to explore WV. Turned out to be a great location. No frills with pull thru 30/50 amp spots. Emailed to reserve spot in the evening and heard back right away. They have an honesty box to leave payment. Great views and not a lot of road noise. If you…

Small, simple, right by the river

I stayed 3 nights, and first two were fantastic. On the 3rd night a vehicle parked in the boat ramp lot and blasted music started at 2am, lots of yelling. I heard from several people that the walk-in spots can get pretty rowdy with locals. The pull-in spots were fine. Picnic table, fire ring,…

Off the beaten path but worth it

There are only six drive up primitive sites, and if you can nab one on a weekend consider yourself fortunate. Also available are walk up sites, and in a pinch you can park your camper van in the boat launch parking lot overnight (which we did without problem until a site opened up) Spacious and…

Limited Space but Nice

Beautiful but small campground. There are probably only 10 spaces, one is handicap only. Spaces are relatively close together and the drive down the valley to it is relatively steep - our sprinter van still made it. If the camping areas are full you could stay in the adjacent parking lot beside the…

quiet spot in/on the river

Tent spots have the best access to and views of the river, which is glorious. Car spots lack the view, but they're quiet. Trains passing in the night are oddly soothing. Lots of damp in and after a rain.

Quiet campground in a scenic state park

This park is known for its iconic grist mill images, esp. in autumn.. There is a moderate sized campground with water and electric hookups available. A central bathroom serves all 51 campsites. I was here in late April and never saw anyone in the bathroom when I was there, but probably only¼ of the…

Primitive riverfront camping for free

In the New River Gorge National Park, you will not find the sprawling campgrounds found in many other national parks. In general, you're dependent on private and state campgrounds in the area or primitive gems offering limited walk-in or drive-in sites. This is one of those gems. It's farther down…

Remote campground for fishing

I was visiting New River Gorge National Park and saw this on the park map. I was looking to relocate, so decided to check it out; I couldn't find much information online at all. I didn't move here because it was too far out of the way for my purposes, but that may have been because I came from the…

Beautiful isolated campsite

Location was amazing. Sites are first come first served, no reservation needed. Plenty of parking with 6+ isolated camp sites, all with view of river. There is a great trail nearby that runs along the river. Trash bins and restroom located nearby. No cell phone service.
