Rifrafters Campground provides tent and RV camping and economy cabins in the woodlands near Fayetteville, West Virginia (WV) -- only two-miles south of the New River Gorge Bridge. Our cleanliness, accessibility, and quiet family atmosphere have earned us a place among West Virginia's most-popular camping areas. You'll also find a friendly full-time staff, exceptionally clean showers and restrooms, and plenty of space for small gatherings and walks in the woods behind the campground. Rifrafters Campground

Take Gatewood Road to the Cunard turnoff, between Oak Hill and Fayetteville. Turn, then go 1.8 miles, then follow signs to Cunard River Access. Bear right through the boat launch parking lot and continue upstream for a mile. Sites are on the left. There are four shaded walk-in sites and one drive-in site for tents only.

5 acres of hilltop fields dotted with trees, bath house, fire rings and other on-site amenities. Pet-friendly, but you're responsible for care and clean-up. Kids under 18 are free. Only minutes from Beckley/Tamarack or Fayetteville, officially one of the coolest small towns in America.

Our RV accommodations include both pull-through and back-in spaces, electric, water, and sewer hook-ups. We also provide a bath house, laundry facilities, and 16 acres to stretch out and make use of picnic tables, fire pits, corn hole boards, and the on-site soda machine.

Our rustic studio cabin provides a quiet getaway on the hilltop, only steps away from our rafting departures. The cabin provides 2 queen beds, mini-frig, bathroom, sitting porch, and all linens.

The best camping near New River Gorge National River is anywhere you can find it. All campsites are primitive, first-come, first-served, and, best of all, free. Backcountry camping works the same way. You can park your van down by the river for free, as long as you’re self-sustaining. Amenities will be minimal at any of the nine campgrounds. Not all campgrounds are drive-in or RV accessible, so verify ahead of time. As long as you follow the park’s ordinances, you can camp here for up to 14 days. If you want more traditional lodging, there are a handful of cities nearby, but the main one is Beckley, WV.
