The Outpost New River Gorge

First the good: Reservation with Map and Site assignment easy pick up. Bathrooms clean and extremely modern. Quiet and very few mosquitos. Then, the not so great. Sites really tight, all large gravel, clean but really ugly. Right on road. Some Sites no shade.

Good location, Lots of fun!

We spent July 4th weekend here and really enjoyed it.

Bathrooms are nicer than our bathrooms at home.

Friendly and helpful staff.  There was low key live music Friday and a band/party Saturday night that was super fun.

Good central location to all the fun stuff in the area.

We stayed in partial hookup site #3 and the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because these sites are right on top of each other and there's not a lot of room to back into the space. We have a small travel trailer and it was a tight fit. Our site also overlooked a gravel parking lot and the heat reflecting up off the gravel made our location very HOT during the day.

Overall, however, I liked this campground and would stay here again.

Loved it here!

As a car camper I was initially hesitant about paying for a partial hookup RV spot knowing that I wouldn’t be fully utilizing what I was paying for, but man am I glad I chose to stay here.

The location is great for getting in and out of town and the park alike, and it was the ideal location for a hike base. In terms of the campground itself, I think it set a new standard for me that’ll be pretty hard to beat. The bathrooms were incredible, and the shower was so good that it was almost annoying (I’m jealous and want it at home now too).

Checking in and out was easy, and the staff was very kind in accommodating me extending my stay another day on two separate occasions. I’d been most in and out in the dark, but finally on the last day got to check out the rest of the place and it really is super nice with a great aesthetic to match.

The big kicker for me was the lodge/Wi-Fi situation. As someone camping in a Prius, it can get pretty tight at times, so having a nice big space with great internet to get some work done was a huge bonus. Even in my car, the WiFi was plenty good enough to use, albeit not quite as snappy fast as the lodge.

All in all, I’d happily come back here again and again if I were to find myself back in the area. Could not more highly recommend.

Super cute w/ lots of options🚐

The Outpost was a great place to camp. We stayed in a full service RV spot, but the camp offered a variety of accommodations. Power had been knocked out the few days prior to our visit but luckily came back on soon after we checked in. They have a large community center w/ clean bathrooms, a large green area w/ fire pits and a ton of space for a dog to run around in. Our site was right on a little creek, had a picnic table and fire pit. The bathhouse was clean, big and heated. On our way in, we stopped at The New River Gorge which was beautiful and then for a beer at Bridge Works Beer. We met Barley the brewery dog who became fast friends with our pup. The beer was great and there were plenty of heaters on the patio to keep us warm in the rain and cold. 🍻
