ScoutGuideGreat spot for us as we travel westward , free one night stay. Nice mowed grass park maintained by Kennebec. There are 6 sites with power.You call the city and get a key to open the power box cover and also to reserve reserve your stay. You can also boondock for free, there was only one other boondocker here with us on a beautiful sunny day. Bathrooms are cinder block pit toilets , dirty floor dirty ceiling. No water. Small boat launch, fishing dock and swim beach. There are also horseshoes and poles for a volleyball net. Two dumpsters, two picnic shelters.
GuideCute, quiet little area with direct access to a lake. About a mile and a half dirt road to get to campground. About 8 electric hookup sites, but also space for dispersed campers with no hookups. We ended up parking in one of the electric spots, but didn’t call to unlock the box or turn on electricity. We just needed a place to park and didn’t need hookups. You can call (605) 869-2263 to reserve a site and get electric hookups. Cost is $40/night.
GuideScenic grassland area, very pretty, but just an open field by the lake, so no real privacy if there are other campers. Also lots of little cacti growing in the grass, and it’s not obvious, they’re clearly used to getting mowed down so grow very close to the ground and hidden in the grass, so be careful where you step and when choosing where to set up your tent. But given the lack of options in the area I was quite happy to find this site. Nice place to spend the night while traveling. Maybe even some fishing opportunities, although I didn’t try.
