What to do
**Missouri River fishing: Try early morning hours at Oacoma Flats where the fishing is particularly good for walleye. "Nice, quiet spot that is right on the banks of the Missouri. Easy access in and out, even in a 2WD. If you're in to birding there's some dead trees on the banks that attract woodpeckers," notes Robert G.
**Disc golf course: Located at Left Tailrace - Lake Sharpe, the 9-hole course offers recreation beyond typical camping activities. "The Campgrounds also offer fishing, fish cleaning station, boat ramp, biking, frisbee golf, a playground, horseshoes and bean bag toss. Something for everyone," says Amy C.
**Water recreation: Paddle or kayak from the boat ramps at several sites. "At the beach there is kayaks and paddle boards available for rent which is the perfect addition to a great campground," reports Darby A. about American Creek Campground.

What you should know

**Road conditions: Access to Dude Ranch and other dispersed areas can be challenging. "Rough road leading to boat landing lot but luckily not too long. There are a few picnic tables close to the vault toilet on the upper/north end of the lot," explains Shawn N.

Tips from RVers
**Site selection: RVers at Oasis Campground recommend specific areas. "Booked this campsite for an overnight. The location on the river is amazing, and the grounds are well-kept. Clean fishing pier, nice boat ramp. Site 36 is a shaded back-in sight ~80ft long with water and 50/30/20," advises Tyler Jensen.
**Dump station location: Several campgrounds offer RV services. "There is only water & electricity for hookups but the dump station on site is located right behind the office on your way out of the grounds," notes one camper about American Creek.
**Mud precautions: After rain, road conditions deteriorate quickly at pet-friendly campgrounds around Chamberlain. "Most of the spots where we could pitch a tent were muddy. I don't think I'd recommend this location for tent camping during recent rains," cautions Brianna F.
