## Overview

Dewayne Hayes Campground is located on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, on Columbus Lake in Mississippi.   
  
The campground provides convenient access to the waterway. There is ample opportunity for visitors to fish, boat or spend the day sightseeing along the banks of the river.   
  
The recreation area was named in 1986 for Pfc. Loyd DeWayne Hayes, a member of the 145th Engineering Battalion of the Alabama National Guard.

## Recreation

With playgrounds, hiking trails, multi-use courts, picnic areas and educational programs, families have no shortage of activities to choose from at DeWayne Hayes.   
  
Anglers can fish from the shore in search of bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and sunfish.   
  
Additionally, hunters can seek out a diverse range of high quality habitats for upland game and waterfowl species along the Tenn-Tom lands.

## Facilities

Dewayne Hayes Campground features 110 campsites, including 100 standard sites with electric and water hookups and 10 tent-only primitive walk-in sites.   
  
The campground is partially shaded, and sites have picnic tables, fire rings with grills, pedestal grills and lantern posts.   
  
Visitors have the convenience of hot showers and laundry facilities, and anglers can make use of the fish cleaning station.

## Natural Features

The Tenn-Tom, as the waterway is known, extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama. The man-made waterway connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico.

## Overview

Blue Bluff Campground and Recreation Area, on the Aberdeen Lake section of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Mississippi, is one of the most scenic recreation areas on the waterway.   
  
The area is located just north of Aberdeen and boasts both a campground and day-use area. Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts visit the area each year for picnicking, fishing and swimming.

## Recreation

Families can swim at the facility's beach, play on the multi-use court and walk along the wooded waterfront.   
  
Anglers can try their luck on the accessible fishing dock or go off-shore in search of bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and sunfish.   
  
Additionally, hunters can seek out a diverse range of high quality habitats for upland game and waterfowl species at designated hunting areas along the waterway.

## Facilities

The campground offers 92 campsites with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, fire rings with grills, pedestal grills and lantern posts, making it perfect for parties and family functions.   
  
The facility is mostly shaded and has many scenic views of the waterway. Picnic areas and a beach are nearby.

## Natural Features

Blue Bluff is named for the beautiful clay and limestone cliffs that border the park on the eastern side. The bluff rises 80 feet above the water and provides a lofty view of Aberdeen Lake and the nearby lock and dam.   
  
The waterway extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama and connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico. 

## Nearby Attractions

A tour can be schedule at the Aberdeen Lock and Dam next door, which provides an opportunity to watch barges and other recreational boats go through the lock on the waterway. The town of Aberdeen, just from minutes from the campground, has various amenities, tours and events.   
  
Tupelo, Mississippi, known as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, is a 45-minute drive north.

## Overview

Pickensville Campground is located just west of Pickensville, Alabama, on Aliceville Lake on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.   
  
This campground boasts both a campground and day use area with many activities and amenities for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors enjoy hunting, fishing, picnicking, water sports and watching the barges go by on the waterway.

## Recreation

Families can swim at Pickensville's beach, play on the multi-use court, walk along the wooded waterfront and learn about the natural and cultural history of the area at the amphitheater.   
  
Anglers can try their luck on the accessible fishing dock or go off-shore in search of bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and sunfish.   
  
Additionally, hunters can seek out a diverse range of high quality habitats for upland game and waterfowl species along the lands surrounding the waterway.

## Facilities

This facility offers 176 campsites that provide picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, electric and water hookups and plenty of shade. Some sites also provide sewer hookups for RV campers. There are accessible sites and restrooms.   
  
Anglers can take advantage of an accessible fishing dock, boat ramp and fish cleaning station at the day use area just across the waterway from the campground. The day use facility also provides a swim beach, playground and picnic shelters.

Whitten Park Campground attracts thousands of outdoor enthusiasts for picnicking, fishing and swimming on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Easy access to three boat docks, nature trails and a sandy swimming beach with a gazebo overlooking the waterway, make Whitten Park a welcoming destination for campers. Whitten Park is also referred to as Fulton Campground because of its location in Fulton, Mississippi. Recreation Anglers can try their luck on the fishing dock or go off-shore in search of bass and crappie. Hikers will enjoy many nature trails, which weave through wooded wildlife habitats. Facilities The campground offers 60 sites with electric and water hookups. The three camp loops provide easy access to playgrounds, laundry facilities and showers. Natural Features The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama. The man-made waterway connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico. Features include ten lock and dams, Gainesville Lake, Aliceville Lake, Columbus Lake and Aberdeen Lake. Nearby Attractions Tupelo, Mississippi, known as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, is 15 miles west. ADA Access: N WHITTEN PARK CAMPGROUND, also known as the Fulton Campground, is a Class “A” facility. Each site has an impact pad, grill, picnic table, lantern post, and electric and water hookups. Each is conveniently located near restroom, shower, and laundry facilities, playgrounds, and nature trails. The campground also contains a sanitary dump station, numerous boat docks, and a beach area complete with overlooking gazebo. Some of the campsites are handicapped-accessible. In addition, there is a day-use area providing multi-purpose game courts, a playground, three picnic shelters that can be reserved, restrooms, and an open picnic area. The boat ramp is open 24 hours for your convenience. Registered campers may use any day-use facility on the Waterway without charge. CAMPGROUND RESERVATIONS Information on campground reservations may be obtained by calling the Whitten Historical Center at (662)862-5414. To contact Whitten Park Campground, call the gatehouse at (662) 862-7070. Whitten Park Campground is administered by Bay Springs Site Office, Corps of Engineers. The Corps is continually striving to meet the needs and desires of our visitors, and we welcome any comments about our parks or camping policies. Our office hours are 7:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Davis Lake Recreation Area is home to beautiful Davis Lake, Campground and Day Use Area, popular for all kinds of recreational opportunities, including swimming, fishing, boating, birding and wildlife viewing. The surrounding scenic forests make Davis Lake a picturesque place to spend quality time outdoors. Recreation Davis Lake covers 200 acres and provides multiple recreational opportunities. A grassy swimming beach is situated on the shore, where many anglers cast for largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, catfish and bream. The campground has 14 sites on the lake, many of them with space to anchor a boat. A 2-mile trail wanders along the north edge of the lake to several earthen fishing piers. Visitors can also spend time birding, watching for a variety of geese and ducks that migrate through the area. Hawks, herons, bluebirds and doves are also plentiful, among many other species. Wildlife viewing is also available, as foxes and bobcats call the area home. The Chickasaw OHV Trail is a newly renovated 12-mile motorized trail that is within three miles of the campground. The trailhead lies between the Davis Lake recreation area and the Natchez Trace Parkway. It is within a mile of the Owl Creek Mounds archaeological interpretive site. It is open between April 1 and Oct. 31, for hunting. The trail accommodates off-road vehicles 48-inches in width or less. Cyclists and hikers will enjoy the Tanglefoot Trail. This multiple-use Rails-to-Trails path is located 5 miles west of Davis Lake. It runs 43.5 miles from Houston to New Albany, MS through Houlka, Algoma, Pontotoc, Ecru, and Ingomar. Facilities The recreation area offers more than two dozen campsites, a picnic area, a group shelter, accessible flush toilet facilities and a dump station. Davis Lake has multiple fishing docks, including some that are accessible. Campsites are equipped with tables, lantern posts and campfire rings with grills. Drinking water is provided. A picnic shelter can also be reserved on-site, for an additional $40 per day fee. Natural Features The campground is situated in a hilly, mixed hardwood and pine forest that stretches along the eastern shore of the lake. It is located within 4 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway, a 444-mile drive through exceptional scenery and 10,000 years of North American history. Nearby Attractions The recreation area is located 21 miles south of Tupelo, Mississippi, and 12 miles north of Houston. The Owl Creek Mounds, an archaeological interpretive site containing Native American ruins, is about 50 miles away. The Witchdance Horsetrail is an 18-mile horseback riding trail that can be accessed from both the Payamatha Trailhead (on Highway 32, west of the Natchez Trace and east of Highway 15), or the Witchdance trailhead, that lies on the Natchez Trace Parkway (approximately 5 miles east of Houston). Located just six miles south of Tupelo, Mississippi - Tombigbee State Park offers the finest in outdoor recreation opportunities minutes from one of Mississippi's premier shopping, dining, and entertainment areas. Tupelo is the site of the bi-annual Tupelo Furniture Market, home of the Elvis Presley Birthplace, and the headquarters of the Natchez Trace Parkway.

There are several options to stay the night. The park offers 20 developed campsites for RVs or tents, a primitive camping area, 7 cabins, 1 cottage, and a group camp facility.
