Ohmygoodness. This place is THE BEST. I couldn’t believe we found it in the middle of nowhere. Camping along both sides of road beside river inside small canyon. Walking distance to Balanced Rock. Lots of natural features. Kayakers paddle up and then float back down. Lots of fishing but little…
With some fire rings and in May, clean pit toilets. Lots of bugs, but then lots of birds! Right on the Bruneau arm of the snake. The sites are well spaced and not very defined. A local fishing favorite with several huge rigs and generators at one end and someone doing miserable rap karaoke at the…
Do not come here during spring! We found 6 ticks within an hour of being there. You might have better luck at black sands RV resort down the road but a local said it’s best to avoid bringing your pets there or camping at all there.
One of the coolest spots I’ve ever camped, and it was FREE! Definitely a hidden gem, pulled up late Sunday night around 830 and there was a few spots left. Bathroom out of TP but thankfully had our own. If you’re looking for a clean beautiful free spot, this is IT!
I went there with my family and it was great. The only thing was if you do not go as far in you are bound to see more people.
A large campground geared toward boating with a great location right on the reservoir. Not a lot of shade trees but a beautiful high desert setting.

I spent a couple nights here the weekend before Thanksgiving. It was quiet and clean. There wasn’t any cell or wifi service or reception in the canyon.

Several sites along reservoir with camping literally on the water's edge. Out of probably a dozen sites, most are rv friendly, even a couple of sites for big rigs. This campground is a utility operated natural area by Idaho Power and very well maintained. Fishing, kayaking and bird watching…

The place is beautiful and you have a hiking trail through the canyon and the balance rock is 5 min by car. Thegood: It’s free, has water, trash cans, and bathroom pits, roofed picnic tables, fire grills, fire rings. Can stay 7 days, tent on grass only Thursday through Sunday (sprinkles during…
One of the most gorgeous sunsets we’ve ever seen. Fairly quiet, even on a Friday night. Limited services, but all we needed, and decent privacy between sites. A little gem.

Campground was clean and well maintained. Unfortunately we went on the hottest day of the year and got cooked. The car said it was 111F! No real trees to speak of for shade so we spent the entire day in the water. It cooled off at night but got a bit gusty.
We had to cut our trip a day early but…
About 8 spots right on the shore of the lake - each site has a cutout “step” down through the weeds and into the lake. Ideal for fishing or wading. Water is cleaner in some sites than other depending on winds/currents, but never goes up very far above the knees. One vault toilet, very clean. Sites…
Campground was pretty clean and easily accessible. Close-ish to Wild Horse for fishing or boating. Nice views on the drive in. Nice and shady spots! Will come back for sure.
This was the best find of our trip from San Francisco to Yellowstone. It’s a little off the beaten path and seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
Room for about 12-15 camping sites, many having fire pits, a few with tables. All are along a grassy area and river front.
We showed up at 4pm on a…
We camped just outside of Cottonwood Campground. There is an access road to the West that follows the shoreline. Beautiful area and it was great to camp right on the water. The fishing was also good with lots of smallmouth in the lake. Be sure to watch out for the ticks though!
