Within Boise National Forest, Banks operates as a US Forest Service day-use area rather than an overnight campground. Located along Highway 55 between Boise and McCall, the site provides toilets, picnic tables, and allows pets for visitors seeking a roadside stop. One reviewer noted the spot works well for swimming or spending the day, though overnight camping is not permitted here.

The site serves as a convenient waypoint for travelers, though some campers prefer other campgrounds around Banks along the Highway 55 corridor. For actual overnight stays, nearby options include Swinging Bridge 6.7 miles north and River Pond Campground 7.5 miles east.
