Friendly and accommodating staff

They first put us by the road and we requested to change sites and they did so. The sites are not well maintained and small. Our picnic table was old and gives splinters if you’re not careful. The store is nice and bathrooms and showers are clean. Overall, it’s too pricey for conditions but doable for a short stay

Dumpy, overpriced

I rarely stay at KOA’s as I’ve found the sites poorly kept, usually muddy site, no grass and rv’s packed in like sardines. This one didn’t disappoint. Roads throughout the campground are rutted and in rough shape. They obviously hadn’t mowed and with all the staff driving around on golf carts seems they could have “tidied” up our space since it had dirt all over the patio. And does KOA ever invest in gravel to add to sites that obviously need it? I’ve seen state parks that only have volunteer hosts do a far better job of cleaning up campsites. We decided to splurge and got a “deluxe” patio site believing we would have no mud and more space. Hardly deluxe but definitely expensive. Very small patio with a sidewalk (which was not useful), muddy and absolutely nowhere to tie our dogs out without being disrespectful to campers on either side. The sewer h/u to the camper next to us was right in front of our “patio” and picnic table. Not nice to look at when eating/ sitting out. Especially with clear sewer hose. The perimeter around the campground was full of junk and unsightly. The entire place looked old and rundown. The camp store was not well stocked with food items. I would guess they close soon for the season so don’t bother to restock and the restaurant was closed. Bathroom near our site was old and in need of an update but was reasonably clean. To add to all of this the campers on one side of us felt they didn’t need to tie out there two dogs. So the dos of course kept trying to come over to greet our dogs which of course drove our dogs crazy. Yellowstone was on our bucket list and we drove across country to see it. Yellowstone did not disappoint but this KOA definite did.

It’s a KOA - nothing fancy

I mean it’s a KOA. It’s kinda what you expect. We needed a place to charge batteries, do laundry, and shower! It’s a nice KOA though. There is a mini golf area. There’s two little fenced off dog areas! It’s close to the town.

Clean. Well kept.

We enjoyed this campsite. They had great hot breakfast and grilled dinner options. The cook however was rather grumpy when one of our dogs pee’d on his lawn one morning. Rather rude.

Great KOA

Great place about 5miles west of park. Over 200 sites. Had nice laundry and restroom facilities. Playground for children and put put golf. Can ride bikes around all the sites. Beautiful indoor pool we used. Wanted to inside the park but you have to book those months early. Had great prices on gifts (40% off) when we were there.

My Home away from Home

Several years (10) ago I booked this KOA to travel with friends and visit Yellowstone.  They all backed out, and it ended up being an incredible trip with my Mom.  So much so that we are having our 11th trip this year.  I am also bringing my husband separately for his first time.

This KOA is well kept, clean, spacious, plenty of fun things to do, the staff is courteous.  And I love the different options that you have for staying there.  Tents, RV's, and Cabins.  The general store is great if you forget anything.  And the BBQ is wonderful for breakfast or dinner!

The accommodations are perfect.  We have stayed in tents and cabins.  I love that each site has a picnic table, and fire pit.  If you choose a cabin, it consists of beds, a porch swing, and a space heater.  Unless you choose to upgrade (which we have done in the past as well).  Then you have a kitchenette and bathroom/shower.

Tight spaces, removed from park a bit, but overall good amenities

This location offers some full hook-up locations, but they are generally pretty tight and some are fairly uneven.

The people running the KOA are nice and accommodating (We had to change spots because we felt that we could not safely level our trailer due to the site eroding on the low hill side- YIKES!) The cell service was good.

This is about 15 minutes from the West Yellowstone Gate and outside the town of West Yellowstone by roughly the same. We went in their last week of operation before they closed down for the season and it was... sparse. I'm sure during the summer it is much more lively and fun to be there.

To be truthful, we would maybe stay here again, but would MUCH prefer to stay in the park, even if we didn't have full hookups.

So many amenities!

I enjoy all the amenities, the only thing I wish it had was a sewer at the individual sites, but it’s ok because they have a couple within the park located towards the exits. They have a huge playground, miniature golf, cornhole, a cool view of some cows on a ranch, indoor pool, and several individual showers. Restrooms were clean. I also like the fact that you can rent some bikes and they have a restaurant which is helpful when you don’t feel like cooking! I liked our location near the store/restrooms/restaurant. We were told to keep an eye out for bears because we have small dogs but haven’t seen any yet. Also the cows graze so close to the campsite it’s beautiful to watch them. I would stay here again!

Cool indoor pool & best fudge

We stayed here one night. We had a pull in site for our RV and saw cows from our site. We had an upgraded patio site with a tree. There were trees throughout the campground. My grandsons and I loved the indoor pool. It was different and we didn’t have to worry about burning during this heat wave.

The fudge was the best I’ve ever had and I consider myself a good judge from decades of testing.

All hookups were good. We also had dinner here. It was quality. We each had something different. The corn was sweet and tasted distinct to me as farm sourced. The trout was fresh and meaty. I tasted the ribs, which were also good.

Pretty standard

Pretty typical for a KOA, from what I’ve experienced. The little store has a TON of stuff, food, RV related, backpacking, souvenirs. It was clean it was well maintained. It was a little jam-packed. It did feel like half the camp arrived and set up camp after 9PM and half were breaking camp and leaving before 7AM. Just makes for a pretty noisy corrosion, but it’s the life of being so close to YNP, I suppose.

Clean and cramped

We had a pull thru site with patio. Our fire ring was right next to our neighbors sewage drain, and the way our site slopped we couldn’t put chairs around it.

Almost all of the sites have shade. The laundry facility was clean and the Yellowstone Park entrance is nearby.

They do not enforce the quiet hours, our neighbors were playing loud music and slamming doors until 11:30pm.

An all time favorite!

I come to this campground every single year and have for the past 9 years in a row (14 trips total).  This campground has all the amenities you may need or want!  Tent camping, cabin, RV, etc.  And I have done them all there.  There is a laundry room, showers, outdoor activities like biking, ice cream, mini-golf, playground, etc.  I typically rent a cabin nowadays.  I have stayed in the one-bedroom, and the two-bedroom deluxe with kitchen and bathroom/shower.  Both are great!  I highly recommend coming to this campground and cannot wait until I am there again this year!

This campground is only 6 miles from the West Entrance.

Nothing special.

Great if you have kids and need a pool. But it’s nothing special. I probably wouldn’t stay here again because there is no view. The sites are close together and all you can see is other people’s sites. Also, it’s been disappointing how many people won’t where their masks during this pandemic. The pool was super crowded and not policed. The positive it is close to the park and the sites are clean. We have a trailer so I can’t comment on the bathrooms.

Ugh, yucky customer service

I don’t like to leave bad reviews where I have not stayed. But, any review of a place should start with customer service.

I emailed this KOA requesting a tent say. I half-hour later I received an email back saying there were two sites but that I needed to call to reserve. I called promptly spoke to a person named Judy, her demeanor was less than encouraging. I relayed to her what the email had said and she barked at me and said we don’t send emails concerning availability. I said but I have one right here saying that you do have two tent sites. She said maybe we do have two tent sites but we don’t take emails, then she promptly slam the phone down and hung up on me. I emailed back and explain the situation at which point I was told sorry all tent sites are now unavailable.

Times like this I wonder, was it me? But I also realize that the year 2020, social distancing, pandemic, is also causing a rush on outdoor tent sites. There is stress all around. But, common courtesy should always prevail when you are customer facing.

Close to West Yellowstone

9/6/19 Conveniently located, 6 miles from west entrance of park. We had a pull thru site, 45,. Level gravel site. I didn't like that our electric and water are on site 44 grass area right next to their firepit. Our picnic area not level. Table very worn. They have a lot of different sites including ones with patio and porch swing, tent sites, cottage. Sites that back up to highway get a lot of road noise. Bathhouse attached to store was average quality, clean, good water pressure. The bathhouse attached to the indoor pool/spa smelled really moldy. Nice play area with mini golf. Small fenced dog area. Good size laundry facilities and store.

There is a tour bus that can pick you up at KOA's office for a ride to the park, if you don’t want to drive yourself. There is also horseback riding, fly-fishing, and whitewater rafting nearby. indoor pool, laundry/shower dump station. They have pancakes in the morning. Crowded and overpriced

We booked a deluxe site here because that’s all they had left. You could easily have paid the same for a decent hotel room. The patio for the deluxe sites was tiny, basically the size of a small sidewalk. The sites were really close together and didn’t provide any privacy. Bathrooms were ok. If you get a tent site or cabin along the edges of the campground then this could be a great place to stay. The store was really nice as were the staff. If you are a KOA diehard or have a huge rig then this might be a good option. Otherwise try to get a site inside Yellowstone to be closer to nature.
