Sitting at the edge of Henrys Lake in Island Park, Idaho, this BLM-managed boat access area gives campers direct waterfront positioning with open sightlines toward the surrounding mountain ridgelines. The site operates as a drive-in, walk-in, and boat-in location, making it accessible to a range of setups including rigs up to 50 feet. Dispersed camping rules apply across the gravel and dirt areas, so expect a more open, self-directed stay rather than designated numbered sites.
Water access is the defining feature here. Most sites sit close enough to the lake that the view carries across the water from camp, and a boat launch on-site makes this a practical base for anglers and paddlers. Vault toilets are available on the property, though at least one reviewer noted the bathroom building sits some distance from certain sites. Verizon 4G has been confirmed by multiple visitors, a useful detail for those who need connectivity. The area is dog-friendly, though past reviews flag that off-leash dogs and waste left on the ground have been recurring issues.
The access road has some rough patches, but campers towing low-clearance trailers report no significant problems when driving slowly. Midweek visits tend to draw fewer people, giving the site a more open feel. Henry's Lake Boat Ramp sits just 0.2 miles northwest, and Henry's Lake BLM Dispersed is 0.3 miles southwest for those who want to compare nearby options. "Right on the lake and very few people on a Thursday," notes Chris. This spot works best for self-sufficient campers who prioritize lake access over developed amenities.
