Kayaking on marsh waterways: Savannas Recreational Park offers affordable kayak rentals at $5 per hour. "If you like kayaking and uniquely Florida nature, this is it. This is paradise. List marshlands with twists and cuts for paddling. Birds you never knew existed. Great fishing," writes Amanda K. The park's waterways wind through protected wetland habitats.
Mountain biking for all skill levels: Pine Grove Campground — Jonathan Dickinson State Park features diverse trail systems. "This is an awesome campground for family's. Tons to do. Waterfront camping views: St Lucie South receives praise for its canal-side sites. "The tent sites all are on the St. Lucie canal and do not have water to the sites although, water is available from the tap just across the street," explains Dean. Clean facilities: Campgrounds throughout the area maintain well-kept bathrooms and grounds. At Savannas Recreation Area, "Very clean, dog friendly and spacious site. Paved walking path. Lots of birds & gaters. The staff is very friendly. Free bike rental & kayaks were $5 per hour," reports Lisa R.
Swimming pools for heat relief: Many campers appreciate pool access during warmer months. "Pool was wonderful with a snack bar and bar. We used the gym everyday. It was very clean. The bathrooms were very nice and clean," notes Karen M. about Ocean Breeze Resort.
What you should know
Train noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience railroad noise. "The campsite is right by the train tracks to Miami, and it feels like the train is barreling through your van. This goes on all night, thanks to a few railroad crossings with plenty of honking!" warns Wolfram B. about Ocean Breeze Resort.
Wildlife awareness: Alligators are common throughout local waterways. "We were warned against paddle boarding the canal due to alligators. Swimming is not permitted. Out last morning at the site, we saw a 3-5 foot alligator trolling around just off our site," reports Dean from St Lucie South.
Hot, sunny sites: Many campgrounds have limited shade. "The campground is amazing, but due to not having many trees we don't have shade in the campsites. Just one another have trees, unfortunately. Coming in the summer was a bit tough staying here without an RV with air conditioning," notes Arnaldo N. about Pine Grove Campground.

Look for educational opportunities: Jonathan Dickinson State Park offers ranger programs and discovery centers. "Great park with miles of paved and off road trails for biking and hiking. Lots to do, horse back riding, boat tours, discovery center, bird watching, off road bike challenge course. We've seen otter, tortoise, birds, eagles so far," shares janet H.
Choose campgrounds with playgrounds: Treasure Coast RV Park provides family-friendly amenities. "You can tell that they love their lifestyle & job. The park/campsite is so beautiful. Everything is lush and green and the rv sites themselves are fully equipped with everything. Also, it's very quiet and peaceful here. Pool, pond, bingo, ice cream night, free breakfast Tuesdays and Friday night band by the pool," writes Whit J.
Consider glamping options: Platform tents offer camping without equipment. "The canvas tents at Phipps Park, Martin County are perfect for group rentals and ideal for beginners. All in all, this is a well kept property, worthy of staying awhile if you are passing through," explains Breezy and Max R.

Site selection matters: At St. Lucie Lock campground, "The sites are laid out perfect. Easy to backend. Concert pads, gravel fire pit and covered picnic tables. No bad views i was in 3 different sites during my stay," shares Mike Y.
Amenities vary significantly: Research facility options before booking. "All sites have 30/50 amp service and water. Sewer is not available. Dump station near exit on way out, Because of the cleanest of the campground and the friendly staff I rate this a five. they make up for the only downfall of being allowed to dump once per week or there is a fee of $20.00," adds Mike Y. about St. Lucie Lock.
Book well in advance: The best places to camp near Jensen Beach fill quickly, especially during winter. "Make your reservations early as it books up a year ahead of time," advises Edward R. about Jonathan Dickinson State Park.
