    Road Runner Travel Resort

    Wonderful Park

We discovered this place on a vacation trip to see a friend on Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce FL. We are now camping here seasonally in a 35 ft Class A RV. There's a large pool, a good-sized general / convenience store with all the essentials you might need, and a full restaurant right on site. The RV sites vary in size and set-up, most are level, most have a concrete patio. most have full hook-ups. There are also a number of "villas" (short, single-wide manufactured homes) that people either rent for an extended stay, or own, interspersed throughout the park. Many people live here year-round, and even more live here for three or six months during winter. There are 3 rustic cabins and a few spaces for tents. While this is billed as a "family" resort, most of the longer-term campers are retired, or "digital nomads" that work remotely. There are a few families with kids, and a few people like us who don't have children but are younger than retirement age. It's a good mix. There are adult activities - Bingo, karaoke, jam sessions, trivia night, pickleball, tennis, shuffleboard, Pentaque, cornhole, basketball, crafts (for adults), and more. Short stays are not cheap, but longer stays are pretty affordable considering the great pool and all there is to do. Oh, there are fireplaces at the premium pull-through sites, fires are allowed on regular sites only in a raised, enclosed firepit. There is also community firepit. We love it here.

West Palm Beach-Lion Country Safari KOA

    5 summer months

So, we were here a bit long term in the summer. Staying here in the summer is as bad as being in Vermont in winter. You need a reason to be there and sadly we did.
First off, waking up to lions roaring and bonobos scream in the morning was freaking amazing! I will treasure this memory for the rest of my life. The facilities are aging but are clean. The ladies in the front office were awesome and accommodating. We purchased a new RV while there and they had no issues moving us and making sure we were good with moving up from a 30 Amp to a 50 Amp site. At $99/night it is expensive and by not having the facilities of a KOA Holiday and being so far away from the Highway as a KOA Journey I can't give it 5 stars but, it is damn close.

    Whispering Palms Resort

55 and over campground Snowbird haven !

Very clean, all sites are concrete and mostly level. A mix of 30 and 50 amp hookups with water and sewer as well. There are 2 swimming pools, one is designated for families traveling with children. There is a small lake for catch and release fishing. Shuffleboard, tennis, horseshoe, bocce ball, and pickle ball courts. There are a couple of community building, one for playing pool (4 tables) and a card room. Another building for larger community events. It is a dog friendly campground, dogs must always be on a leash and not left outside unattended. After a full COVID recovery more community events are being planned. About 85% of the campground are permanent residents. Short term camping in the front of the park with some pull through sites for the big rigs. Easy access off of US Hwy 1 Sebastian, Fl.

    St Lucie South

    Beautiful getaway

The staff at check-in was the best. I talk with several over my 5 day stay sharing ideas and stories. Very helpful. The spots are laid out perfect. Easy to backend. Concert pads, gravel fire pit and covered picnic tables. No bad views i was in 3 different sites during my stay. Grounds are kept clean, cut, trim and edged. Reception good on t.v. Antenna and dish satellite. No wifi on sites but free wifi at reception area. Great river views. 3 bars on T-mobile. Your right at the locks so watch the boats pass from the gulf to the Ocean. Horseshoe pits. Clean showerhouse. Tent camping is primitive m. All RV sites have water 30 and 50 amp service. Sites on river will hold 45’ class A. Close to shopping. All sites have 30/50 amp service and water. Sewer is not available. Dump station near exit on way out,  Because of the cleanest of the campground and the friendly staff I rate this a five. they make up for the only downfall of being allowed to dump once per week or there is a fee of $20.00.  there is no charge for a honey wagon dump.  I would assume the extra fee is to encourage water management since there has been issues with algae growth in the waterways.

    Long Point Park Campground

    First time camper’s opinion

This is the first time we have gone camping in our new travel trailer. Therefore, I don’t have the experience to compare to. For what it’s worth…The sites are clean and have a picnic table and fire ring. Although I believe there is a burn ban at the moment. The outer sites at the waters edge have only electric and water hookups. There are some sites that have sewer hookups as well but are not directly on water. Some sites have a larger opening through the brush than others. I appreciate that you can view a photo of site when booking on their website. There is a dump station in the campground if needed. Staff that checked me in was friendly. Dog friendly. Very nice experience.

Pine Grove Campground — Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Pleasant area. Book far in advance!

There are limited options for affordable camping in this part of Florida, so plan to book your stay here a while in advance as it fills up. We are lucky to snag two nights here on our way to Miami. Lots of hiking options and some really nice views. The RV park has full hookups and is almost completely filled with older adult campers high end big rigs. Clean facilities and level sites though.

    Fort Pierce-Port St. Lucie KOA

    Close to town and well-kept

General: Small family-run KOA campground (33 sites) located 1.5 miles north of Fort Pierce on Highway One. All sites are FHU with a combination of regular, premium, and extra-large sites. There is also a tent site area.

Site Quality: All sites are level and gravel with a fire pit and a brick patio area with a picnic table. Typical RV park layout with minimal to no privacy separating sites.

Bathhouse: Two unisex all-in-ones that were clean and air-conditioned. The shower had immediate hot water and good water pressure.

Activities/Amenities: There is a small playground and pet area plus a clean spacious laundry area. It is close to town. There is a manatee center and Navy Seal Museum (but we didn’t explore either one) close by in addition to shops and restaurants in Fort Pierce. I was able to enjoy a 3-mile run to town and back on sidewalks.

This campground was more expensive than we usually like to spend but it was a convenient location for us to have dinner with a family friend. We arrived after the office was closed so did not have any interaction with staff but our check-in paperwork was readily available. We appreciate that we were tucked in at the rear of the property which lessened the road noise (and we didn’t have neighbors on either side of us). I would rate this three stars for our purposes but as it was well-kept and for others may suit their needs, it merits four stars in general.

    Savannas Recreational Park

    Hidden Gem

I have done several reviews of this place each time I discover more. Full Hookups, 50amp at all sites, sewer/water and free wifi. Excellent cell service on T-mobile. Clean laundry facilities. Tennis, basketball, canoe rental. 2 dog parks one for over 30lbs and one for under 30 lbs. My biggest complaint has been the picnic tables so happy to see the were all replaced with new in the last 3 month. Great walking trails and wonderful wildlife and landscape for viewing. Great opportunities for some excellent photography shots why I keep coming back. Of course the friendly staff. Enjoy my video.

Guide to Stuart

RV camping near Stuart, Florida offers sites with varying pad types and spacing between neighboring campers. Several parks in the area sit near waterways or beaches, with most located within a 30-45 minute drive of downtown Stuart. Winter temperatures typically range from 60-75°F, while summer temperatures consistently reach the high 80s and 90s with frequent afternoon thunderstorms.

What to do

Fishing access: At Causeway Cove Marina and RV Park in Fort Pierce, the location provides easy access to both fresh and saltwater fishing. "It's a marina with RV sites, not your typical RV park with a marina," explains reviewer David S., highlighting the prime water access.

Beach proximity: Juno Ocean Walk RV Resort puts campers just across the street from the fishing pier and beach access. "Great location and just across the street from the fishing pier," reports reviewer deb K., who appreciated the convenience.

Water sports rentals: Multiple marinas near RV parks offer equipment rentals. "There are boat, jet ski, and kayak rentals available right on site," notes Doug B. about Causeway Cove Marina. The area's Intracoastal Waterway provides protected areas for beginners.

Nature viewing: Several campgrounds back up to nature preserves or waterways. "We stayed at a lot that backed up to the nature preserve it was fabulous to look out our back window and look at nature and not another RV," shares chad N. about Silver Palms RV Resort.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Causeway Cove Marina and RV Park offers significantly more space between sites than most Florida RV parks. "The sites are large, so you're not 10 feet from your neighbor. There's probably more like 40 to 50 feet between the sites," reports David S.

Water views: Several parks feature water views or waterfront access. Reviewer chad N. noted at Silver Palms, "Has gazebo to sit outside and enjoy" while looking out at the nature preserve.

Pool facilities: Most RV parks in the Stuart area maintain swimming pools, often heated during winter months. "The facilities are amazing. Beautiful large pool with a bar and very clean modern bathrooms and showers," notes Ransom J. about Ocean Breeze Resort.

Walking-distance amenities: Juno Ocean Walk RV Resort provides easy walking access to multiple amenities. "Close to beaches and great restaurants," notes Lisa H., who found the convenience added to their camping experience.

What you should know

Seasonal pricing variations: Winter season (December-April) prices can double or triple compared to summer rates at most parks. "We got lucky and landed a cancellation for a few weeks," shares Ari A. about Treasure Coast RV Park, indicating the challenge of securing winter reservations.

Road noise: Some parks experience traffic noise due to proximity to highways. "Location is a bit busy and there's road noise from the freeway depending on where your site is," notes Ari A., though they add it's "conveniently located between I95 and the Florida Turnpike."

Park rules: RV parks near Stuart often maintain strict rules to preserve the experience. "Some people have said they have a lot of rules, but that's what keeps the park so nice!" explains Ari A. about Treasure Coast RV Park.

Wind exposure: Waterfront locations can experience significant breeze. "The one downside is that there is very little shade and you probably won't be able to open your awning due to the breeze," warns Doug B. about coastal camping options.

Tips for camping with families

Beach options: Look for shallow, protected swimming areas suitable for children. "Across the street is a beautiful beach right on the Fort Pierce Inlet. Perfect for kids. Very shallow and no current. Beautiful clean blue water," recommends Doug B.

Pool alternatives: Vero Beach Kamp offers swimming options without beach travel. "The pool is clean and they have all types of camping available," notes John R., who found it ideal when visiting family in the area.

Activity access: Many parks offer organized recreation options. "Nice bike rides all around and friendly staff," shares Michael L. about Ocean Breeze Resort, describing the family-friendly atmosphere.

Entertainment options: Some parks provide on-site entertainment. "In a normal year, not 2020, there is always things going on like bingo, ice cream sundaes, seasonal dinners, and breakfasts," explains Nancy S. about Treasure Coast RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: When booking at Waters Edge Motor Coach & RV Resort, select sites strategically. "Nice paved sites with plenty of room. Owner is super nice," advises jamie, highlighting the importance of pad quality.

Cell service: Most RV parks near Stuart offer reliable connectivity. "Cell service is solid on T Mobile and Verizon. T Mobile bounces between 5G and LTE, Verizon stayed on LTE," reports Ari A., noting that "speed tests aren't always high but we've had no issues with work, including video calls."

Pad construction: Check what type of pad you'll have before booking. "Our site had pavers that were in disrepair and could be a tripping hazard," cautions Douglas T. about one park, while Treasure Coast RV Park has "newly poured concrete pads" according to reviewers.

Pet facilities: Pet owners should verify policies and facilities. "They have a huge dog park but the path to walk your dog I would never use as it had a lot of debris," warns Douglas T. about certain parks, suggesting researching designated pet areas before booking.
