Saviors

This place rocked and saved our honeymoon when no one else would. Unfortunately during peak Covid, everything was fcfs or absolute expensive or closed, and we were losing daylight heading up the coast. Made it just before dusk and we were able to get a tent camping spot for about 70 a night which…

Flat Site in a Beautiful Area, But RV Noise

I snagged a last-minute cancelation in Pinnacles during peak time in May. We were in site 82 of Loop D, which is the RV area. The campground recently renumbered its sites, so that can be confusing if you're researching sites.

Very open and flat. We pitched out tent where you'd normally park…

  • View from hike above campground.
  • Our campsite. Very flat. Shade provided by one big tree next to the site, so in midday, this is hot and sunny. This is the land of RV's in this loop, but we also knew that going into it.

Lake San Antonio

I love this lake it has something for everyone. Like swimming, boating, camping, going on a picnic, and fishing in some areas. I would consider this one of the best campsites I’ve been to

Magical spot

We don’t usually take our RV to place that are $70-$80 a night but this one was worth it. There is no phone reception at all, so you could fully disconnect. It feels so secluded, like you are miles away. Each site is semi private, surrounded with big redwood trees. We originally booked a site with…

Gorgeous location- but come early in the morning to get a spot

This is one of my favorite campsites due to iats relatively small size and gorgeous views of Big Sur. There is a cute, rocky private beach with access from the campground and a long hiking trail across the street that is dog friendly (just be aware of poison oak).

Just note that if planning…

Very RV park feeling

I stayed in the RV loop and did not enjoy my time there. The sites had no private cu and were crammed in together, most people seems to be there to party and the bathrooms were far and gross.

Coastal beauty at its finest

If you are driving up from the south and going to Big Sur this is a great place to camp for the night. It captures the beauty of the coastline and has some hiking trails down to the water. They had firewood for sale when we were there which was super convenient. There isn’t much more that needs to…

Cold NorCal Beach

The beach is socked in with mist even on sunny days most of the year. Little ones might not like the 1 mile flat hike in, but it’s easy and feels very short on the way out. There is a fee but it’s waived if you are staying at pfieffer state park. You do need to cross a small river (knee deep in…

This park is not closed

Gorgeous, quite and peaceful. This place felt half empty on Memorial Weekend. No mosquitos or ticks which was unusual. The river is running very low but it’s still gorgeous. We had a premium river site and a larger open site. I would stay closer to the river or in an open meadow for sunshine. The…

Hard to believe that it is free

We towed our 30' travel trailer up to this dispersed campground that is located along a ridge line on the west side of the 101.  When we went, of the (7) formal sites that are up there, only 3 of them were taken and that was off and on.   We didn't need 4x4 getting up there or even a high clearance…

Long walk to the toilets

I love this park so much! But the campground is privately run and I have mixed feelings about it.

There are over 100 sites, but only 3 bathrooms (they do have flush toilets and running water) so its a long walk. My child is not quite independent enough to make that walk on her own without getting…

Expansive views and peaceful

I spent two nights at this BLM property. It was very quiet except for relatively far off gunfire one morning. I think there are eight campsites here, Each one with a covered picnic table. There is a well-maintained pit toilet relatively close to all sites. The campers were respectful of each…
