Where the Salton Sea meets BLM desert land, Los Palmas Oasis occupies a medium-sized dirt lot that serves as a staging area before the entrance to Dos Palmas Reserve. Campers park on level ground with views extending toward the Salton Sea on one side and the reserve's vegetation on the other. The site accommodates big rigs and allows pets.
Palm trees require a thirty-minute walk from the camping area, while natural springs sit about an hour's walk away. Cell service reaches the area, and the Bureau of Land Management permits alcohol. The location works well for campers wanting dispersed camping with access to both desert landscapes and the unique ecosystem around California's largest lake.
