Quiet camp

We spent one night a Cattle Camp and enjoyed the stopover. The campground was empty compared to Fowler’s just down the road. Lots of space between sites, plenty of shade, and rather level. You can access the McCloud River trail from Camp which gave us the chance to stretch our legs and wear out…

We didn’t spend the night here, but were tempted. We pulled in to see if we could just pay to fill our fresh water tank. The owner wasn’t there, but the gentleman filling in for him was incredibly hospitable. He not only let us fill up, but offered to let us dump if we needed to (we didn’t).…

I can’t say enough good things about this campground. Fowler’s was 100% full but as of later on a Thursday in mid-May here we have an entire loop to ourselves. Rain/showers were in some forecasts so some may have cancelled trips. Sites are much larger & more spread out than Fowler’s. Only…

This state park is a gem

I stayed at this campsite after they opened from the pandemic while on a road trip home and I am so so happy I stayed here. The waterfall is like nothing I have ever seen before, and I was so blown away at it's size. The campground is a 5-10 min walk from the waterfall and while it is not private,…

Quiet campground next to busy day site

Where camped here just after they opened in April, 2021.  The daytime visitors made for a large crowded parking lot and line at the entrance station, but so far on 8 campers in the 64 sites that were open.

It is a wonderfully shaded park (i.e. no solar) and the sites are nicely separated. …

Great option when Fowler’s is full!!

was super impressed by this one. got in later than expected and fowler’s was full, cattle camp did not disappoint. short drive or medium walk to a cold shasta swimming hole, nice trails, some highway buzz but nothing too bothersome.

Northshore - Lake Britton

Unlike the other campground on Lake Bitton (Dusty Campground) this is a more developed campground. It can be reserved - through PGE.

There is water. There are showers.  And it is much larger - 20 plus sites. It can accomodate trailers. Lots of people here with boats as there is a boat…

So nice! 8 camp spots sites are super close to the river. Great fishing, swimming lagoon, picnic tables, fire rings ( no fires right now ), vault toilets, and quiet. We were literally the only people who were camping. Paved road and stunning views

Beautiful falls - Crowded Camping

The falls sell the place.  They are beautiful.  The PCT trail goes right by on the opposite bank. Great fishing upstream from the falls. Great fun at Lake Britton.

BUT this is one busy crowded campground.  It is large (many sites) has cabins, a visitor center and a store.  So for me a tent camper…

Nice Campground

Nice campground with a few fairly private sites. Some highway noise but not terrible. Family friendly campground for sure. Great swimming holes along the Mccloud river loop just turn left coming out of the campground and follow the paved road and signs. However swimming holes can get very crowded…

A nice place to stop....

Right off Hwy 299 & below the powerhouse at Fall River Mills. There in no cell service down at these 8 basic & 1 group camps. Clean pit toilets. 1 camp host, but never saw them. LOTS of poison oak surrounding area. Easy walk to a scenic river.

Good open camp area.

There are grest amounts of trees throughout the cam ground, fire pits are abundant and lots of space from you neighbors. We have stayed 3 nights, no hastles or pay was required.

Good Spot to be before the Climb!

Lots of Dispersed tent spots but can fill up fast. Bathroom not too far away. Most people camping here are climbers, so they could be trying to get some sleep before the big climb. So it wasn’t great timing when we were Celebrating our Summit! Oops
