Away from everything

It is an easy thirty or forty minutes to a gas station so fill up when you see the Circle K and Chevron next to each other if coming from Yuma.  If coming from the north Quartzsite is probably your last chance for gas.  It is in the middle of nothing and nowhere, a little oasis with little to no…

Hospitality on the river

Walter's Camp is a great launch point up the Colorado River. I don't own a boat but if I did this would be a regular spot. The drive in is a couple miles on dirt road. Take it slow if you have to but chances are you can get there just fine! You may get some excitement from other guests enjoying the…

Beautiful and remote

Once you leave I-8 it’s about 35-55 minutes back to major services. I hear Fischer’s Landing has a new convenience store. The office has beer, soft drinks and a few choices of hard stuff. The RV pads are cement and level. Our rig is 24 feet and we fit very well on the pad. This is a military…

Leave city life behind.

Come slow things down at this wonderfully secluded campground. About 6 miles off the main highway down a rough dirt road lies this hidden gem. Whether you’ve got a boat to launch, a travel trailer, or a good ol’ fashion tent, you’re welcome here! Located right on the beautiful Colorado River! Heads…

“The last resort”

Interesting area, very artistic fallout apoliptic feel. This is a free dispersed area off the access dike of Bombay Beach along the Salton sea. This place is a man made disaster ghost town that has been mostly abandon with everything else that went to the wayside of the Salton sea situation. Bombay…

Wonderfull hidden gem.

About 6 miles off the paved road. Roads were graded last week and pretty decent drive, although its posted that 4x4 is sometimes recommended. Host Tabatha is very friendly and helpful. Sites with full hookup, and you can get at waters edge if you Have you Generator. Here on weekdays end of…

Great location, questionable staff

Quiet, clean, remote little military family camp on Lake Martinez with concrete RV sites and full hook ups, 50 amp electric only, but they have a loaner 30 amp adapter if they can find it. Park models and cabins available for those who do not tent camp or RV. Various types of water craft available…

Ideal camping experience. Just perfect. Will return.

I camped here with my wife and two children (6 and 7). It was awesome. Our site had a bunch of large rocks for the kids (and my wife and I) to climb around. With the river, the trails, and all the rocks, there is tons to explore. And, the whole area is just gorgeous. Ideal camping. Getting to the…

Squaw Lake boat-in Camping

We enjoyed this campground, but we were lucky to be able to boat-in. The sites are not accessible by vehicle and your gear must be carried in from the parking lot. More wildlife here than other similar desert areas. Protect your food from raccoons and Burros!

Remote,river ,hiking,nature.

It’s an 18 mile dirt road to the park. It is along the lower Colorado river with fishing, hiking, hunting, boating! Hidden gem!

Salton Sea looks bleak these days

There are a few long-term campers here that aren’t very friendly. They have tent sites and hookups.

Major plus is birding at the Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge.

Great river spot!

I always come back to this area because it's so laid back and open. Since we camp here with a canoe we have fun setting up right along the water. Some spots you can canoe out to with your gear and camp! I have had some critters get into my gear here, but all in all it's a quiet, laid back boat…

Red Hill Marina Imperial Valley

Very Primitive location but beautiful in its own right. Gets dusty, tons of birds, close to the Salton Sea and no complaints. $7 per night for a tent site, a little more for hookups. $2 day rate use fee.
