nice views

$14 a night, right by a lake! super pretty. mountain view’s as well. the only bad part is i think this is a local hot spot, and there was loud trucks coming in and out in the late hours blasting music. also 4 wheelers going crazy!! did not sleep good at all.

Hard to get reservations

Its qlmost impossible to get a spot here, but we got lucky on a Thursday early in the season. It was amazing! There were deer and marmots that were friendly (but not camp beggers) and trees the perfect distance for hammock sleeping.

Very Nice

Normally do dispersed camping, but figured I would do the campground thing. Very beautiful well kept supposedly it had just opened an hour or two before I arrived after being closed for two years. Great campground

Soo peaceful and very central

We really had no clue which campgrounds to choose on our Kings Canyon and Sequoia trip so this was a random choice! It seemed like popular crowded sites were all booked out. So I chose this one because it has a nice stream nearby, it's so nice to camp near water. It was sparsely crowded, very…

We will be back

Clean easy to get in sites. Water and electric sites with a dump station for when you leave. Bathrooms were very clean. Only complaint is that as a paying guest we still had to pay to dump ($5) and showers are $2/7mins. Great place for kids with playground, western town and store with ice cream…

Nice midweek stop

Only a few people here on Tuesday. Pretty stop on the 395. Already 90 degrees in May but some trees so nice in the shade.

Amazing getaway

Sentinel was the only campground available for a visit to Kings Canyon and Sequoia. Be prepared for a LONG drive to get anywhere.

The campsite was amazing!!! You are nestled by the river and under beautiful big trees. The site was spacious with a picnic table, fire pit and bear box.

1st come 1st serve w/ many pros

Am finding out that no free campground is con-free, but this one is great for the fact there are flushing toliets just across the street, there is a water source at the 10 spot campsite, garbage bins that are emptied regularly, and the people who fill up these spots daily seemed to all be courteous…

Not private but wonderful central location

Perfectly situated near all the best trailheads. No privacy at this campground. Lots of loud families. Walking distance to the store with firewood and ice. Creek runs through it and lots of big trees nearby.

Lovely stay

I really enjoyed my stay at this campground.  We had a spacious site, it was quiet, and I loved the hike to the waterfall from the campground.  In fact, the trail was right off our site.  There are some very curious and friendly deer when we were there!

  • Gorgeous view from the trail to the waterfall

Want to go back.

Only had a one night stay here prior to completing Rae Lakes Loop in King’s Canyon and got a first come first served spot. Parking at this site was crap and space for rent was limited but we were just happy to have scored a spot to rest before our backpack. Bear boxes available for each site. The…

Cozy spot on the edge of town

I stayed 2 nights here Sept 29 & 30, 2020 and I’m glad I did. First off, the price was great which was $28/night throw in a 7 minute hot shower for $2 more(you buy the tokens at the onsite general store) but the cold showers are free. Number 2, Bishop is a nice little town with AMAZING food…

Great Campsite

Very nice campsite with views of meadow. Lots of trees allow for many shaded sites. Most sites allow for privacy. Can get loud at night but mostly a chill campsite. Campfires allowed during time of visit which was great! Freeman Creek Trailhead nearby, hike ~8mi RT and see George Bush Sequoia.

Drawbacks: lack of shade and proximity of neighbors

We stayed over here one night during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Our site (#54) was next to the water spigot for our loop, which was super convenient, however, it had zero shade cover and was very hot and dusty (again it was the first week of July).

Another issue (especially in the…
