Acorn Campground

My experience has always been good ones for the few times I’ve been there. Always a good time with friends and also the rangers checking. Clean bathrooms and also the spots to camp.

  • Full moon at the lake was beautiful and the weather perfect. no mosquitoes too
  • My camping set up.

Pinecrest campground

Pinecrest was an amazing place at the edge of the Stanislaus national forest. The community is great, the campground and bathrooms were very well maintained. It was a 10min walk to the lake. If you’re into fishing, there are trout in the area with some nice fishing spots labeled on the paper map.…

Many years at Hogan

Our family has been here many times because it’s tradition since my husband was a kid. It’s gorgeous if we’ve had a year of rain. Usually pretty quiet but bathrooms are always a disaster.

I didn't stay. Can't believe it has 5 stars!

I guess if you stayed on the water it might be nice but the campground itself was pretty bad. 1st they have blocked any phone signal so even with my WeBoost I could not work from here. 2nd the flies were horrible. 3rd my site was across from overflowing trash can. 4th the hookups are on the wrong…

Little shade. Walk in sites

Campground is situated on a very long narrow dirt road. Besides the proximity to Yosemite this campground was not a favorite. 2 had the best shade and it gets hot.

Camping is not allowed

Beautiful day use area. Very close to the sweet water camp ground. Nice waterfall and swimming area.

Remember to pack out trash. There was a lot of trash when there is trash cans right in the parking lot)-:

Little bit of green along the river

Probably COVID related but this park is under utilized and under attended. The shower is of if you throw in quarters and close your eyes. It could use some TLC but was a quite place to stop for the night.

Not all spots have shade.

Everything you could want!

We visited on a Tuesday in late April and there was only one other couple on the opposite end of the campground. There's also a very nice attendant who lives on site who wen saw the next morning and recommended a hike that is accessible from the camp that hike is very nice but not very shaded. I…

Beautiful Crystal Clear Lake

Great campground. Came here July 2020 and it was amazing. Each campsite is pretty secluded and spaced out. Crystal clear lake, with waterfall and a rope swing. Definitely one of my favorite spots. Only drawback is you either have to hike down to the lake via a steep trail or drive 5 mins away to…

Smith Meadows Wilderness

We hiked up Smith Meadows trail about three miles and found a perfect spot for the night. Perfect solitude and wilderness. All uphill to get there but the views don’t disappoint. Just grab a permit on your way in and there is overnight parking and bear boxes.

Close to Yosemite on the cheep

Close to Yosemite, 45ish minutes to Yosemite Village. Campsites are super accessible for all vehicles. Sites are close together. We were there in early April no trash service or water and only one pit toilet open for all the campsites. Midweek lots of sites available. There are some fun…

Beautiful spot

Came here for a spontaneous family trip and was one of the only campgrounds with any availability. Though my bar was low, the campsite exceeded my expectations. The view was gorgeous, and there were a lot of hiking trails to choose from. The only setback was the closeness of the sites and some…

Secluded!

We drove into the campground on a Friday night and were surprised to see that the 5.5mi dirt road was on the side of the mountain and had a lot of ruts. We were driving a Prius Prime with low ground clearance, so it took us nearly an hour to get down to the campground from Hwy 120. Others driving…

Repeat Campers

I love the access to the beach, the hikes, the coffee shop for mornings when you don’t want to get a fire started.

Can be a lot of RV generator noise, even (especially?) in early October.

Hike-in sites are great

We stayed here for a weekend at one of the hike-in sites in the Chamise area.  We were the only ones in this area, and had a decent view of the lake.  We even managed to make a path down to the water from our site, so we could swim.  Lots of good trees around for hammocks.

The hike-in sites…
