Right on the River

A lovely county campground and picnic area on the Colorado. Dry sites are closest to the water. Super clear restrooms and showers. Dry sites have picnic tables, BBQ grills, but no fire pit. Lots of green grass. Large open grassy area with day picnic sites. RV sites are separated from dry sites.…

A nice scenic BLM campground close to the town of Quartzite

This BLM is a great place to camp because of its close proximity to Quartzite. There is a deionized water station just down the road I was there in December 2020 and January of 2021 Covid 19 had a big effect on the crowd but I had a very good time not having to negotiate. The RV vendors tent was…

Free RVing

Can’t really complain when something is free... but along this road you have so many places to Pull in and pull Over for a night or two. This isn’t a hidden gem, a lot of ATVs and dirt bikes are out here and it’s crowded at more spots more than others but overall it’s a cool place to camp out if…

Good Place with Few Other Campers

My brother and I camped in this general area for several days. At the end of January I was meeting up with campers I have met in prior years in this area.  I took several photos of the landscape while we camped there. It was cold and windy most nights. It rained a couple days and we were blessed…

  • Rock art with mountains in the background.
  • I have no idea what this is but it looks like a mini Joshua tress. I like these cacti.
  • I was out for a hike and this patch of reddish grass looked very nice with the mountains behind it.

Great views , not too crowded

This area is becoming more popular, but not crowded yet. Solome is just down the road with propane, laundry and a small grocery store. At the junction of 72 & 60 you can dump for $20 (Ramblin Roads RV Resort) or head down the road on the other side of Solome to the county park, Centennial Park…

Really nice location.

I don't care for densely populated campsites, but don't want to be off in the middle of nowhere alone either. Feel safer when there are some others near by.

That said, I started today at the Plomosa Road Campsite which had a host on site, required registration, but was free. Quite a lot of RV's…

Good dispersed camping, close to town

Free BLM dispersed camping with plenty of open flat areas with trees and bushes to allow for a sense of privacy to choose from. Saw a few other campers along the road but were able to easily find a private space for the night at 33.749426,-113.731680.

There were multiple spots with rock fire…

Clean and refreshing...

Zesty...maybe ... Irish kick id say, cause that spring type weather filtered your lungs like nothing You can imagine. And alil bit chilly in the morning to enjoy your warm coffee then the tables flip to enjoy something chilled on ice as the sun warms the day.

Nice place for short stay.

Very close to highway and noise. Large camp area, but can feel a little crowded for a BLM site. I only stayed over night, so it was a convenient place for a rest without going far out of my way for my next stop.

It was really cool to come here and see a part of WWII. There’s not much to see, it is all completely flat dessert. It’s more of an emotional experience than anything. Highly recommend.

Large Concrete pad left over from WWll.

Gen. George Patton trained troops here for the African Campaign back in the 40's. It's a large flat concrete pad that was once part of an air base. No amenities, just a place to park. Interesting history if you research it.

  • Desert around the pad.
  • Just a large flat pad.

Boondocker's Dream

Quartzsite is a Boondocker's dream. There are countless BLM camping options all around the area. The scaddan wash is located off mitchell mine road which is a dirt road. To get there you have to drive on a Dome Rock Rd (terrible) that hasn't been maintained in a very long time. Most people actually…
