Away from everything

It is an easy thirty or forty minutes to a gas station so fill up when you see the Circle K and Chevron next to each other if coming from Yuma.  If coming from the north Quartzsite is probably your last chance for gas.  It is in the middle of nothing and nowhere, a little oasis with little to no…

Hospitality on the river

Walter's Camp is a great launch point up the Colorado River. I don't own a boat but if I did this would be a regular spot. The drive in is a couple miles on dirt road. Take it slow if you have to but chances are you can get there just fine! You may get some excitement from other guests enjoying the…

Beautiful and remote

Once you leave I-8 it’s about 35-55 minutes back to major services. I hear Fischer’s Landing has a new convenience store. The office has beer, soft drinks and a few choices of hard stuff. The RV pads are cement and level. Our rig is 24 feet and we fit very well on the pad. This is a military…

New Campground Beautiful

We stayed in site 42 of New Campground. We had W/E (water pressure is really high) and the sites have plenty of rooms to spread out. A ramada, picnic table, large fire pit. Some sites have shade trees. Beautiful views of the Salton Sea (thats pretty much all its good for due to pollution and high…

Great no frills camping area!

This is a dispersed camping are. NO hook-ups. No water, sewer or electricity. Perfect. What does it have? Pit toilets and showers. Day Use is $7 Overnight camping is $10. I stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the near solitude with only four other campers in sight. Very interesting walks on the shore.…

Beautiful desert spaces

We enjoyed our 3 day stay here, but had a big dusty mess to clean up afterwards. Fishing revealed catfish and bass at the waters edge. A watercraft would be ideal; no swimming allowed. We parked on the lake near the road when gravel trucks worked weekdays. They did a good job of wetting down the…

Leave city life behind.

Come slow things down at this wonderfully secluded campground. About 6 miles off the main highway down a rough dirt road lies this hidden gem. Whether you’ve got a boat to launch, a travel trailer, or a good ol’ fashion tent, you’re welcome here! Located right on the beautiful Colorado River! Heads…

So much fun

We stayed here for a week and had a blast. We had a little trouble getting there and ended up taking a very strange road in, which wasn’t helped by the fact that we arrived around sundown, but as long as it’s not muddy there’s no problem. The road in seems like you’re about to arrive on someone’s…

I stay away from the crowds

Stayed north on Milltry Lake ( free camping area on Google ). Great. Zero amenities and small and quiet. Just a ( kind of ) boat dock. Plenty of amenities at the main lake area, that's not for me.

A whole lotta nothin' around

Which I loved!

Pit toilets, no water, a little cell service with ATT. Half the sites were full but with quiet folks. There's a little hike from the campground and an abandoned cabin to check out nearby.

2WD can make it just fine, but probably good to have a AWD/4WD after a heavy rain.

Nice and quiet during the night.

I didn't choose to park right next to the lake but was on the other side of the dirt road. Real nice place to relax, camp out, ride my bike, all for free. Felt very safe and had no issues during the stay. Its close to town if needed also. Never saw bugs and wind was pretty calm
