Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Navarro Mills Lake

Liberty hill is a very beautiful campground but there is a serius issue with the invasive Argentian ant. This is a great campground to spend a few days or weeks relaxing and catching fish. Lake Navarro Mills is well know as the best Crappie fishing lake in Texas. Navarro Mills Liberty Hill Park features a fantastic fishing barge that is covered allowing you to fish no matter the weather. Our visit to Liberty Hill Park at Navarro Mills Lake was a real treat with one minor exception, Argentine Ants, these can be a real issue when RV camping at Liberty Hill Park as this invasive species is out of control at Liberty Hill Park. Nice hard sites all with 20/30/50a, cable TV, and full hookups. There are 4 washer and dryers and showers for all 124 spots. So it’s iffy getting one - no place to hang your clothing in the bathrooms and or wash area. The bugs are bad here, we had ants in our trailer and lots of bites. When it rains stay on the pavement as the mud is nasty and gumbo. The road is very loud and there are train tracks with train horns blaring all night long - make sure your bedroom faces away from the road for the best sleep. The people are very friendly and responsive - while we were there the internet and water was off a lot. Management is not on site and so lots of things were going on at night. No security or patrols. Over all I would stay again for a short stay to visit family, but $55-65 a night was pretty high considering there is zero to do here , no pool, no meeting rooms, no grass to walk on. Two dog parks and one small play ground for kids.

Family and pet friendly. Wind off of the lake was amazing, bathrooms were clean and nice to use. Campground was clean.

pretty comfortable stay and the Rv park owner is super nice and straight with you. Pets are welco0med and all amenities are there for tenants. Not far from wort worth either! Definitely coming back!

ThisThis RV Park is so sad. You pull in and there is nothing but derelict broke down trailers leaking God knows what from underneath them. Several spots are empty and the people who do stay here are full-timers because their RVs and trailers are not movable. The laundry room stinks like a cat box the smell is overwhelming as soon as you open the door. Their showers are deplorable no locking doors and the doors are rotted halfway up. On Fridays the management sells hamburgers and beer without any licensing I'm sure and I bought a hamburger and it was terrible I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. While at there weekly hamburger cook I had to witness the manager beat his dog with a pool stick which broke while he was beating his dog. They set their own price on the electricity they provide you and your RV or trailer will be filled with ants and cockroaches when you leave. And they will not refund your deposit and they will nickel and dime you to death. This place is just sad and broken. If I had not paid money up front for my stay here I would have left immediately terrible sad place full of despair.

I've been camping here plenty of times as a kid growing up in Cedar Hill, TX. My family and I would camp in the spring, early/late summer, and fall months. Plenty of sites have a campfire grill and picnic table along with electrical outlets. Good camping sites for "glampers" who have to have Internet access and electronic use. Finding/reserving a campsite is super easy at the welcome center where you pay an entrance fee to the park. Plenty of lake to share with other people at this state park. My brother would go fishing at the smaller ponds here. At some campsites, you can here the traffic passing by on FM 1382, but if you can sleep through that noise, you'll be fine. Plenty of hiking/biking trails as well. Great to bring pets. Bathrooms are available as well near many of the campgrounds.

This park is located out in boonies and can be pretty difficult to find. Most people think they are lost trying to get to it, but if you follow North Speegleville road through all the cornfields you will eventually stumble upon it. Believe me, you're not going the wrong way.

Being lakefront property you would expect to see more water, however there is a lot of brush grown up around the lake and sites so it is hard to see. There are also limited places to get down to the water in the park.

There is a nice boat ramp and dock for fishing. It is also pet friendly and equestrian friendly. There is a nice little 1 mile hike were you can bird watch and view the lake Waco, it is very shaded and flat. Then there is a 20 mile hike/ equestrian trail that goes around Lacey point.

Bathrooms and showers need some work, but they do the job. There is no store at the campground, but there is a dollar general located in Speegleville about 4 minutes away. There are picnic tables at ever site along with a fire pit, and also a playground for kids.

The whole park is very secluded and away from street noise which is so lovely. Perfect place for viewing the stars over the water and listening to nature speak around you!

Decent little RV Park by Lake Waco. We stayed here during 20-degree weather in December, and it was½ vacant. It seems like it would be a happening lake party spot in the summer since it’s close to the marina with a bunch of docked house boats. Our indoor cats loved the birds and the deer that walked by our back window. You must use the gate code to both enter and leave the property. We had low water pressure during the freeze, and it came back normal after the temperatures came back up. We had a consistent issue with our electricity having high and low voltage. Our Watchdog surge protector was reading as high as 132 during the evening and drop below 110 during the day. The sign on the bathroom building says you can’t come and go after 11pm. That’s something that would be important for us to know since we travel for work and some of our contacts are night shifts.

We are a small family with dogs and camp primarily on weekends. The road to the campsite is full of potholes. Once there, the campsite was quiet and comfortable. No hiking nearby but nice views of the lake and a marina full of interesting houseboats; some boats in the morning are loud out on the lake. Not too many obvious long term people, neat campsites. Plenty of people fishing. We stayed in A68 but I think the sites at the end would be better so far as lake views. Bathrooms could be cleaner. Some fire ants but it’s Texas. Saw plenty of wildlife (raccoon, skunks, deer, toad, waterbirds). Short drive to Waco and the Mammoth National Monument (which has RV parking).

Coming here was so relaxing!! The lake was my favorite part! There are some great options for activities for the whole family. We enjoyed swimming, hiking, biking, and playing games on the grass area. One great trail is the DORBA Trail- this is a great biking trail!! So glad we brought out mountain bikes. Our dogs loved the lake- great place to cool off. The campground was also nice! Big spaces so you didn’t feel like you were right next to your neighbor. Enjoyed roasting marshmellows at night. There is a great burger joint down the road, also! Great burgers and shakes :). Highly recommend!!

We stayed here long term for work, in our camper trailer. This is a great place, for long or short stays. All sorts of rigs, maybe not quite the place for tents. The owner is very kind. The property is well maintained. Gravel pads, with all the hook ups. It's great not having to move to drain the tanks. There is a community area called the scale house, indoor and outdoor chill spots to enjoy the scenery. A small shower/laundry house, and overflow parking for boats, extra vehicles, etc. The creek runs along side the campground, and herds of sheep roam across the creek with friendly and protective sheep dogs. You can fish in the creek and in the pond located within the sheep field. We really enjoyed this spot.
