Best RV Parks & Resorts near Navarro Mills Lake

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Navarro Mills Lake offers several RV campgrounds with varying amenities and access to lake recreation. Liberty Hill Park Campground provides water and 30-amp electric hookups with sites that back up to the lake. American RV Park in nearby Corsicana features concrete pull-through sites with 50-amp service and full hookups including sewer connections. The park accommodates big rigs and provides sanitary dump stations. Oak Cove Marina primarily serves RV campers, particularly on weekends when tent camping is restricted. "Our site was level and had some shade. Spacing between sites was fine. Not too close together."

RV parks in the region maintain different seasonal operations, with many open year-round despite hot Texas summers. Sites near the water at Liberty Hill Park may become swampy after heavy rains, requiring careful site selection. Ant infestations have been reported by multiple reviewers, particularly the invasive Argentine ant species that can quickly invade RVs. Most parks allow pets, though specific restrictions may apply. Highway noise impacts some locations, particularly those near Interstate 35 and Highway 31. Advance reservations are recommended during fishing season, as Navarro Mills Lake is known for excellent crappie fishing, drawing significant weekend traffic to lakeside RV sites.

    Airport Park - Waco Lake

    Airport Park COE, Lake Waco

Airport Park on Lake Waco, in Waco, TX. We really like this park. We were in site 27, which our camp side is shady during the afternoon and evening. Each site has a fire ring, bbq grill, & lantern post. The RV parking pad is asphalt and long. Big Rigs would have no problems here. When we arrived the gravel pad was raked all nice and neat. 50 amp sites are $26 a night. The loop we are in doesn't have the nice restrooms. We are in the loop that has sites 16 - 36. To me, these are the nicer RV sites, if only the restrooms were better. The other 2 loops have really nice restrooms, with private shower rooms. Site 24 looks to be the pick, as it has shade pretty much all day. We will definitely come back to this camp ground.

    Flat Creek RV Resort

Ideal Country Setting Only A Few Miles From Waco

There is nothing I like more than finding a nice place to retreat from a city which allows the comfort of the outdoors and relaxation with the convenience of the neighboring city amenities. It is the perfect blend of both worlds.

This can be a bit difficult for a tent camper however, so again I was able to find an ideal location for my RVing friends at this site. Normally that would instantly lower my rating because I cannot personally utilize the location at this time without a rig, however this site was so impressive I couldn't steer away!

Pulling up to the park the gate is grand. The park itself sits a short 5 minutes away from the city on a quiet road. The park is expansive and the accommodations rest several hundred yards away from the traffic of the small country road. It is so peaceful!!

Sites seemed to be spread nicely to have the sense of community but not being to close to form crowding. Each space is separated by a grassy area which accommodates a picnic table and has enough room for a little stretching room.

When I visited all of the units there seemed to be very well maintained and even though they do have both overnight and long term stay options, nothing seemed to have the "moved in" look (no underpinnings, no long sewage hoses typical of long term parks).

I was very excited to see the large area for walking your dogs, area which allowed space to play and roam, a pond to fish in or to enjoy, a fire pit for community use and very nice shower and laundry facilities.

The roads around the park were wide and well maintained, the green spaces were manicured well and as I visited people were all very friendly. It made me want an RV just so I could visit!

    Tips:

    • To stay at this park make sure you make reservations ahead of time. While there is plenty of space, they do fill up and reservations will ensure your stay especially during the more populated seasons.

    • Take advantage of the free wifi when here, just pulling in I checked it out and noticed it was pretty decent from all areas of the park.

    • Bring your fishing poles! This park has a variety of fish in the stocked pond perfect for a relaxing day at the park.

    Loyd Park

    Great place !!

Me and my wife loved this place. Great bike trails . Friendly staff and lovely sites, each pretty secluded from eachother. Also they have electric and water hookups. Dont know why it says no electric on this site . Would rate it a 5 star if it had full hookups but we had to use the dump station. But apparently they are creating some full hookup site so we will be back.

    Cedar Hill State Park Campground

Needs some TLC If I could give 3.5 stars I would

We stopped here with our 38’ travel trailer for an overnight on our way north. The ranger at the gate was very friendly and informed us that due to flooding and the lake being 7 feet above normal, all the trails and boat dock were closed.

We had a nice shady site, #224, in Loop G, which was easy to back in to and long enough to leave our rig hooked up. The pad was asphalt and oddly our trailer was perfectly level when we parked.

The park is very overgrown and perhaps due to flooding and recently heavy rains has not been mowed in quite some time. The sites are very private due to lots of overgrown brush between. There was a fire pit and picnic table which we did not use due to a large wet muddy area. There was lots of poison ivy around the trees.

The bathhouse could have used a good cleaning and I was glad we had full hookups and did not need to utilize it.

The park is close to DFW and convenient for a quick stop over.

We had 4 bars reception with AT&T and 2 with T-Mobile and were able to stream in the evening.

This is a very large spacious park, but seems run down and needs lots of attention.

    Flat Creek RV Resort

A Nice Spot, Perfect Distance From Town

We stayed here long term for work, in our camper trailer. This is a great place, for long or short stays. All sorts of rigs, maybe not quite the place for tents. The owner is very kind. The property is well maintained. Gravel pads, with all the hook ups. It's great not having to move to drain the tanks. There is a community area called the scale house, indoor and outdoor chill spots to enjoy the scenery. A small shower/laundry house, and overflow parking for boats, extra vehicles, etc. The creek runs along side the campground, and herds of sheep roam across the creek with friendly and protective sheep dogs. You can fish in the creek and in the pond located within the sheep field. We really enjoyed this spot.

    McCown Valley Park

    Fantastic, scenic along Lake Whitney

Great COE campground on Lake Whitney with well spaced sites for trailers and tent camping. Includes a large section for equestrian campers that includes paddocks for your horse as well as trails to ride on. There are both 30 and 50 amp spots as well as tent camping sites. A boat launch, shallow swimming areas and 2 playgrounds round out this fantastic, family friendly campground!

Guide to Navarro Mills Lake

Navarro Mills Lake camping options extend beyond just RV accommodations, with multiple parks situated around the 5,070-acre reservoir. The lake sits at approximately 424 feet above sea level and features 43 miles of shoreline in Navarro County. Water levels can fluctuate seasonally, affecting site access during Texas' rainy spring months, particularly at campgrounds located on the southern shore.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Blue Sky Cedar Creek RV Park provides good lake access for anglers. "This space has all the amenities you could ask for! Enjoy the facilities and time with your friends and family," notes a reviewer who appreciated the convenience for fishing trips.

Boating and water sports: At Lake Whitney RV Campground, water activities are accessible via dedicated access points. "It's a short walk to the lake but the trail only takes you to an area where you would probably enjoy fishing off the bank," explains a camper who visited the park.

Hiking nearby trails: The trail system at Thousand Trails Lake Whitney offers multiple hiking options. "If you are interested in a quiet spot in the woods with plenty of hiking trails, then this is a great spot," says a visitor who enjoyed the natural setting despite noting the campground "is not fancy by any means."

What campers like

Quiet camping environments: Flat Creek RV Resort offers a peaceful setting away from urban areas. "East access to a quiet, beautiful place to stay in the country. Bring your fishing pole-both a creek and lake for guests to catch and release," writes one camper who appreciated the tranquil atmosphere.

Family-friendly amenities: Northside RV Resort includes features that appeal to families with children. "The park was very clean with four bathroom/shower rooms and laundry room as well. We visited in November and it was quiet with a nice view of the water," notes a reviewer who found the park well-maintained.

Convenient overnight stops: For travelers passing through, some parks offer specific overnight accommodations. "They were the only park to take our late call to stop for the night and the night watchman was extremely helpful. The sites were level cement pads," explains a visitor at Blue Sky I-35 RV Park who appreciated the ease of access for short stays.

What you should know

Weather impact on sites: Seasonal variations affect camping conditions differently than mentioned in the existing description. "We stayed in the month of November. It was cold and rainy but the park did not disappoint," reports a camper at Northside RV Resort, indicating winter camping can still be comfortable despite challenging conditions.

Highway noise considerations: American RV Park and other sites near major roads experience traffic noise. "The park is located just off a busy state highway so you do hear traffic, although this didn't bother us too much," explains a visitor who still found the experience satisfactory despite the ambient noise.

Security features: Some parks offer added security measures. "The park also has a gate with a code needed to enter," notes a visitor to Northside RV Resort, highlighting an amenity that provides peace of mind for campers concerned about safety.

Tips for camping with families

Recreation options for children: Parks with designated play areas provide important amenities for families. "There are 4 washer and dryers and showers for all 124 spots... Two dog parks and one small play ground for kids," reports a long-term visitor at Northside RV Resort.

Site selection strategy: When camping with children, choose sites away from busy areas. "Our site (532) was a little awkward to get in because of the corner and the speed bumps, but not impossible," notes a November visitor at Northside RV Resort who found the secure environment ideal for family camping despite access challenges.

Timing your visit: North Crest RV Park offers a different experience depending on when you visit. "We loved the trees and nice wide slips. Nice not to be within 5 feet from your neighbor," writes a camper who appreciated the spacious sites that give families room to spread out.

Tips from RVers

Level site considerations: At Flat Creek RV Resort, most sites require minimal adjustment. "Sites are gravel and pretty level. No WiFi. Bathhouse is clean and pretty new," notes a camper who stayed at the park, though they mentioned the bathhouse location might require a walk for some sites.

Hookup quality: Many RV parks in the area provide reliable full hookups. "Hook-ups are in good condition. Site is concrete," reports a visitor to American RV Park who found the infrastructure well-maintained during their overnight stay.

Winter RV camping: RV camping near Navarro Mills Lake remains viable in colder months. "We stayed here in November so didn't have any bug problems. It is a new park and very well laid out. The sites are large and easy to pull in and out," explains a visitor to Northside RV Resort who found off-season camping advantageous for avoiding common warm-weather issues.
