This is a no-nonsense, FHU RV park, not for long-term, really. It obviously makes its money during Sturgis M/C Rally in early August (a week long party). Rest assured that everything in the Black Hills is booked for that week. If you're not participating in the Rally that weekend, I recommend any other part of the country.
There is a LOT of tent capacity, and about 40 RV sites. Sites are well-maintained, level, power and water is good, sewer hookups work properly. Laundry is well-cared-for, and clean. Showers are good, Bathrooms are with the showers. No Wifi streaming, Verizon is pretty slow, but acceptable. All RV sites are pull-thru and well-spaced.
Cash only for Passport America, also accepts Good Sam and military veteran discounts.
The owner is no-nonsense, but thoroughly likeable, and very flexible. Highway noise is not a problem most of the night, and we weren't bothered by rail noise all night (which is rare in the West).
Park of gravel/grass mix, no real shade, but these are grasslands at the foot of the Black Hills, so almost no dust and dirt. Road in is well-upkept, but dirt. Do NOT wash your rig - water is scarce in these parts.
We paid $23/night Passport America for three nights, and $45 for another (military). Otherwise, this is marginally affordable for us.

Conveniently located, small-ish RV park in Hill City. Mosly level gravel pads with full hook up. Wifi was very spotty so a hot spot would be needed. However, cell service in this area is also very spotty. With that said, it’s a good place to disconnect. Showers and laundry were fine. The park itself is quiet, but there is road noise.

50amps full hookups are for those who are long term. No shower house. Sites are pull through our 32 ft 5th wheel and 250 had plenty of space in the spot. But sites are close to each other. 30amp I noticed all had full hookups. Sites are level. The place is quite, right off hwy 16, and a great shot of the mountains. It’s a good place to stay if you aren’t spending time at your camp site but visiting around.

So you're going to Mount Rushmore.... I discovered during my trip to the area June 2015 that hotel rates in the area are very high for what you get & hard to find availability. The solution is to camp! Make the most of your South Dakota vacation by spending it camping. My group tented and had a great time. Keep in mind though for those coming from other areas of the country, South Dakota does experience rain and thunderstorms. Pack and camp accordingly. This campground is nearby many SD attractions, within easy driving distance and minutes of Hill City, Custer, Keystone, Rapid City, Mount Rushmore. There are many options at the campground such as purchasing firewood to renting bikes. Check out KOA's campground map for campground layout. RV hookups, tent sites, heated pools, splash pad, and much more to keep everyone entertained. Remember that this area of South Dakota hosts high volumes of tourists each season, especially summer and during Sturgis Motorcyle Rally. I highly recommend making reservations far in advance!

Right off the highway so it’s nothing special, but not too close where noise was an issue. Good place for RVers you need a place near town, or if you are signing up/using the companies services (Like I was)

I'll definitely be staying at this campground on my next visit to the Black Hills. Very nice for tent camping or boondocking with a small trailer. If you are looking for full RV hookups, they do have them but the RV sites are a bit tighter than I might prefer.

I absolutely LOVE the Bulldog Creek Campground! Nestled against the Black Hills National Forest, it is scenic, relatively quiet, peaceful and entertaining! First, the Rates...$40-50 per night with full, 50a hookups,$30 for 30a full hookup,$10 for tent camping, if you're just going to stay a night or two. If you just want a safe, quiet place to dry camp overnight, it's$20.
Now the really good part; if you want a base camp for a month or more and enjoy exploring the Black Hills, Sturgis and Rapid City, you can get 50a full hookup, pull-through site for just$550 per month plus electric! That's a bargain in this area. I was at the Ellsworth AFB famcamp who had just raised their rates to a whopping$54 per day, with no discounts available for long-term stays.
The campground is just off I-90, but set back farther than most, so not a distraction. There is an active rail line along the highway, but so far, I've not seen more than two trains in a day, and none at night. So even if it's for just a week or two, and not a month.. call Aaron, the owner. I'm sure he'll work the numbers a bit, just to have your business!
And as for entertainment, on my first night here, there was a heard of at least 2 dozen deer grazing through the campground. Several of them came within a few feet of my door as I talked to them! This mornings sunrise, accompanied by a hot cup of coffee, was exceptional. You just have to come visit!

This place also has a pool and event center (though closed due to Covid). We stayed over Memorial Day as a last minute choice. Was very nice for an RV resort.

This is a great choice for a campground. Each site is spaced out where you don't feel like you are hanging out in your neighbor's campground! Each site backs up to wooded areas with a view. This campground has full hookup with laundry services that are nice. We didn't use the shower house but they looked well kept. Custer's Gulch RV park is tucked away from the highway so you don't hear any of the road noise. I would highly recommend this RV park to anyone traveling up that way.
ScoutSites are closer than the worst KOA. Very unlevel, site 20 had to raise front 8 inches from hitch position. $50 for full hook up that you can't use unless you have 3 sewer hoses and 50 ft water hose and electrical. Wifi is too weak to connect. If we hadn't paid before, we would've left.

The pricing for this campground is a little steep for what you get. There are vault toilets, but no showers. There is no rv dump, you'll have to drive about 5 miles back to town to dump at an rv resort, which will charge you. The campground is very nice, but the pricing is just too high.
The facilities are clean and well maintained, and the lake is beautiful.
RangerThis Park is kept very clean. Laundry room and machines are organized and in great operating condition. Bathrooms and showers are cleaned very often. RV spots are level. HRV spot has a picnic bench water and electric. And there are also quite a few with sewer as well. One downfall is the highway and the train. It's not a very busy part of the highway and the train only comes by once or twice a day nothing at night. No train horns and the trains are quite short. The staff are very friendly. I was extremely pleased with the RV park and everything about it.

Long term stay. Great rates. All staff very courteous. All facilities clean and well maintained. Level gravel pull through sites of varying sizes. Each site has grass area except on the new end. It is very close to the highway, so there is a lot of road noise. Other than that our stay here has been excellent. Good cell reception. Standard campground wifi, but good reception. Haven't used cable. Nice enclosed dog exercise area. Playground for kiddies. It is off season, so pool, tennis court and some other facilities closed right now. We will be leaving the end of November, but after having been at several campgrounds over the past 2 years, this will be our go to place in the Rapid City area from now on.

If you have an RPI membership, this place is a no-brainer. It’s a huge and well maintained RV resort with tons of family friendly amenities. Onsite restaurant and convenience store with gas station. Large pool with hot tubs. Tennis, basketball, pickleball, and shuffleboard courts. Mini golf and an activity center that will loan you a variety of sports gear and well as rent bikes and golf carts. A massive dog park. Our kids also attended a 2 day horse camp onsite which was very fun for them and very reasonably priced. The list of activities is endless. Tons of kids biking around and playing, so easy for kids to make friends. They also have cabin rentals and a few tent sites. There’s a weekly rodeo held onsite during peak season. It’s 15 minutes from Rapid City and close to the Black Hills. If you are looking for a base camp to explore this area, Hart Ranch is a great choice.

Unable to reserve online for same night. Called and assured space available never asked name, etc. Luckily the spot was near back of campground with very short walk to stunning view. All sites gravel with picnic tables. Sites are close together but due to early Oct, they tried to park RVs every other space in middle of campground. Many long term residents around outsides of park. 2 small Dog runs in front; grass dog walking area in back. Next to Fort Hays, home of $0.99 cowboy pancake breakfast and Dances with Wolves film set. Convenient as Mt Rushmore is only 20 miles & 36 miles to Crazy Horse Memorial. Extremely clean toilet and bath house!!

We had a full hook-up site here for our travel trailer. They assisted in parking the camper which was helpful since the quarters are quite close in this campground. The owners are very helpful and friendly, The campground is close to lots of great activities such as Spearfish Canyon, as well as Deadwood and Lead. I have stayed at Creekside 12 out of 13 years during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The owners do not gouge you for any supplies needed at the General Store. The have the best rates, customer service, and camping spots in the area. They have tent and full hook up RV sites and are close to the events. They cook a breakfast and a dinner if you wish to purchase and have other snacks sandwiches, ice, water, beer and a well kept shower house with hot water. I love this campground and plan to continue my Annual visits there.

I had been having trouble with my van so finding a campground with hookups, great showers, clean bathroom, and outdoor sink for washing camping dishes was great. It's basically an RV park with a few spaces for tents. But they each have electricity which was nice for me. The spaces are close together. My fee was around $44 for the smallest site but this is par for the course for KOAs I think. A great one-night respite if you just want something easy. Showers were really great.
RangerThis was a helpful stop during our family vacation Aug. 2019. We upgraded to the deluxe spot with full hook ups, which was nice. Spots are close together, but to be expected. Bummer, when we were there, the pool was closed. Kids loved the playground & we had a nice time at the pancake breakfast. People working there are very kind & made us smile with the fun pancakes!
